Rooms large and comfortably appointed. Much choice in what to do. Decent location. Choice of beds were first come first serve. Horrible amount of smoke. Food was mediocre at buffet for the money. Very noisy outside until after 12:00 PM
Cleanliness, staff are very polite, good amenities, all the services they offer. I did'nt like the kind of fruits they placed in the hallway near the elevator is not of good quality ( not fresh enough) but still, I give them overall 5 star.
The Grotto Restaurant was outstanding as was the adult pool area Smoke smoke and more smoking-- was disgusting . I understand that it's a casino however, they need a better ventilation system. Give us some fresh air!!
We've been several times as locals - love the rooms , pool & hot tub : decor - location on Fremont Staff is awesome and I feel like I'm back in time - love the retro feel - we recommend GN to all our friends . The club upstairs is fun & great view Overall my favorite
I like the location of the Nugg'. Everything feels pretty updated compared to most of the other Fremont street properties. The pool is pretty unique. Good variety of slot machines and table games, though you won't find the really low minimums here. Generally easy experience. A couple of things really stuck out as bothersome and annoying. Most hotels will provide a coffee maker, but here they give you a keurig machine and charge for the use of the k-cups provided. Not exactly a major thing, but it just sits there taunting you the entire time you're in the room. My biggest problem with my most recent stay was that in the tower where I stayed it appeared that four out of the eight elevators were not functioning. The hotel has no control over when multiple busloads of tourists arrive to check in, but if the elevators all worked that would have avoided the huge crowd in the lobby. Likewise, when many guests are all checking out on Sunday, getting an elevator down to the casino was nearly impossible, with most people resorting to riding elevators up to the top floor in order to get space on one going down. This has been an issue for me before, and I was admonished for taking the stairs down as they are not meant for guest access except in emergencies. Anyway, elevators were a big disappointment.
Clean Reservation was messed-up. I reserved a room with two double beds but they had me in a king room. When I asked for the double room they said I have to pay extra. Room was noisy. When I asked to be moved, I was told they cannot move me but they will give me complimentary ear plugs. I thought they were joking, but they assured me they were not. I went to eat at their fancy steakhouse and after an hour was told to hurry up and finish because my table is needed for the next party. On Friday night music from the nightclub below was so loud that the windows were rattling. I called the front desk a was offered earplugs…complimentary of course. I didn't sleep all night. When I checked out I asked for a paid in full receipt. I was told they can't give me a receipt because I booked it on Kayak which is a 3rd party. I will never stay there again.
Very accommodating and friendly staff. Fremont Street is the place to stay. We will definitely stay at The Golden Nugget again. Loved it!!
The staff was very nice and gave us a complementary upgrade on the room. Room was very clean. The line for check in and out was long. Lack of technology for the express check out. The room has a slightly cigar odor.
The Golden Towers were well remodeled. Fremont Strret Expiernce was entertaining for a one night outing, but not more than that. My room requests were the exact opposite from what I requested. I was placed on the 15th floor, at the very end of the hallway, far from the elevators. I took my elderly mother to the Golden nugget for her 73rd bday. I asked for a room not at the top, and not far from the elevator. Complained about airconditioner 3 times, never was fixed. Non smoking floor smelt like cigarettes at all times
Used to be a good value. Prices are high for what you get now. Not clean..
The rooms were clean, the staff was very helpful and the atmosphere was upbeat. Pretty much the basics that all hotels should have. Beyond that, what we liked most is that anything you could want for entertainment was within a short walking distance outside of the hotel. This was our first stay in downtown after having spent the past two decades always getting a room on the strip. When you stay at one of the big casinos, you're pretty much beholden to whatever they have to offer unless you are prepared to go on a long walk. At the Golden Nugget, the front door literally drops you right on Fremont, with multiple other casino doors about 100 feet away. Throw in a number of bars, eateries and sidewalk performers and you'll find it very easy to be entertained. If you want specialty bars, a short walk to the end of the Fremont light canopy will drop you at a row of neon lit bars, taking you back in time to old Vegas. Maybe it's because I'm older, but after experiencing downtown, I don't feel the draw to the strip, which seems more targeted towards younger club goers, people who like to show off in VIP sections, cover charges, over-priced drinks, trying to walk amongst impatient drivers as you constantly cross over streets and casino entrances, etc. But hey, there's a little something for everyone in Vegas. If you want to stay in downtown, the Nugget is definitely a great place. We also walked to Du-Par's at the Gold Gate next door for breakfast. Again, another perk of everything being within a short walk. Nothing comes to mind.
The Italian restaurant was very good the room smelled like smoke (it was a non-smoking room), we called and housekeeping came and deodorized the room, just masked the smell. It took over 1 hour to get our luggage, we had to call numerous times to get our stuff. This is the first time we stayed and I will not return
We really enjoyed the stay in Plaza, and the location is great to visit the Freemont Experience. Be aware that there are 2 towers, and one is newer than the other. I would make sure to choose the newer one to ensure you get a better room. Maybe it's a bit far from the strip (you will need to take a taxi/uber)
The rooms were a bit modern and in the downtown area. It smelled like smoke which I won't take my family too. The rooms are dark so for business it's a bit hard to do work in the room on the computer. As its so dim and barely light.
Very helpful stall. Left my cell phone there and Lost and Found were on the ball found it. Very please on the attention.
I liked the how friendly the staff were. The valet worked out awesome for me as I flew there to pick up my new 'stang. Every time we called the front desk everyone was incredibly friendly and nice. I wish there was a mini fridge in the room. I figured that was standard nowadays but apparently not. I would definitely stay there again. First time staying in that section of Vegas. I loved how tall the bathroom counters were. For me it was the perfect height. No fridge in room was our major downside. One outlet by window did not work and there was limited bathroom counter space.
Remodeled rooms Hotel was under staff, 1 person to check in, 1 bellmen, 3 elevators not working, food in cafe waa cold. They need to hire more people.
The staff was courteous, the hotel is conveniently located. The room was clean. Housekeeping didn't bother us at all. When we had an issue the front desk was wonderful about addressing it. The casino was one of the less hectic ones, lots of food and convenience options around. Glad that they actually had a first aid kit and sewing kit available in their store. There were two outlets in the room and one of them didn't work at all, the one by the desk. There was also a problem with the boiler that caused the hot water to be effected on our first day there, we couldn't shower until after noon. The beds are below average in comfort and will leave you stiff. Probably bring extra padding if you have back problems.
Price Front desk representatives Room smells nasty Unfortunately all night water leaks inside in my room from tap floor. My last time too purchase online hotel room, I'm check in 00:45 after 30min. Waiting time check out 9:15 am. I'm sleeping totally 2hr.
They charged me two times - for resort fee 22/ per day. And as well hotel fee 30 per day !!!
The hotel was pretty far off the Las Vegas strip, it was at least a 15 min car ride from there. The rooms were okay, not the cleanest rooms i have seen but good enough to spend the night. Seems like a good option to save a couple of bucks but at the end of the day, take it from me, if you are going to visit Las Vegas and be close to everything, look elsewhere, the crowd was a bit older and not the atmosphere that i was expecting, not that i was looking for a crazy party atmosphere, but it was kind of dead.
Are family enjoyed the Palace Casino and Hotel. It was a second time we stayed there and we will be back because the hotel staff was so friendly. Also we like the grand Café the food is good in the waitstaff is always Nice. Also the prices right so we like to eat their grand Café nothing better I didn't like the fact that two elevators were out of order. That's all I can think of that would be that they offer all the things anybody could ask or even a free shuttle to the airport so my complaint is very minimal indeed.
The location is perfect. The elevators were among the slowest I have ever seen.
It smells so bad !!!!! All casinos stick like smoke ... this is so much worse ... I had to brace myself every time I came back in the door ....I will not stay here again
Hotel was accommodating to our needs when getaroom booked our reservations incorrectly. The staff was very nice and eager to help. Initially booked a 3 person reservation non smoking. The getaroom people booked for 2 so we had to exchange our king for 2 queens which they didn't have at the time of check in except for a room in a construction floor that was smoking. The ac unit rattled all night too. The next day the hotel was able to move us thankfully and we got a good nights rest.
Casino Our room was not clean when we got up to our room. We weren't offered any discount or anything for this mistake. Poor customer service.
Loved their restaurant, MAGNOLIAS! Best breakfast and great price
Maid staff not that great. Coffee shop in hotel good value.
Front seat staff was friendly First day these the elevator in the parking lot wasn't working, had to use the stairs. The room smelled old and the music coming from Freemont street wouldn't let me sleep. Once the curtains were moved to look outside we found a McDonalds hash brown wrapper and pieces of has brown underneath giving us the impression that the room wasn't properly clean.
The hotel was situated in a great place which had easy access to bus routes to the strip. The bedrooms were clean and we were given towels and any other necessities we needed. We had to pay for wifi (24 hours at a time) not having their on pool, but there was access to another pool which was okay.
Location was great right in the middle of Freemont st The beds were worn out
Large hotel, seemed inexpensive Had my room over the Freemont concert stage, music was really loud until well past midnight
The people were friendly and polite and accommodating the room was to small and the air system was poor.
Great downtown location. Great price. Restaurant had good food. Room was really smokey, live bands made it hard to sleep in evening when I tried to sleep around 1am. Poor shower head with no water pressure.
I was looking for a cheap place to sleep, but when I checked in, I was charged a $22 resort fee. The total was still less than $60, but it would be nice to have known about this fee ahead of time.
Location Unfriendly front desk staff, hidden resort fees, misrepresented pictures of room.
The pictures of the rooms you are shown are the newly renovated rooms. The problem is not all of the rooms are renovated at this time. We had a room that smelled musty and one they would have been ashamed to put a picture of online.
valet workers were nice... but practically mandatory to use valet because there is no free parking loud band playing outside fremont street and no sound insulation no free parking, $3 an hour fee, cheaper to use valet ac sucks, on max ac, it couldn't cool the room
The employees were all very pleasant. Once I paid for the room (and resort fee online) when checking in I am told about a $100.00 deposit that will be refunded upon checkout. When I check out I see Another $21.00 fee (Resort Fee) All and all we ended up having to pay almost $64.00 for that $20.00 room. The bathroom was so small the door hit the toilet, when I went to hang my towel on the hook on the back of the door it slipped and fell in the toilet. There are bands playing in the blocked off area on Freemont till at least 3am and it blared into our room. The food in the restaurant was outrageously priced for the tiny and outdated cafe. $11.00 for a hamburger and that was about the cheapest thing on there menu. I will never go back and will tell everyone I know how bad it was!
A couple of the staff....Evening reception that gave us a comp b/c our room hadn't been cleaned after two calls to the front desk and the Maintenance guy...Scott...who repaired the heater, and the security guy that helped us open the safe that was stuck. Valet guys were friendly. The location is good. No hot water in late afternoon and evening. Reception told me that during afternoon and evening, I needed to run the shower for 20 minutes before the hot water would show up. They were close...18 minutes. Seems like a huge waste of water. Bathroom smaller than the backseat of my car. Room noisy starting late in the evening. Heater didn't seem to work. I had many contacts with staff to help me solve a problem, repair something, or give further instruction or how things worked, which I've not had in other hotels. My wife and I stayed here as a less expensive alternative to the Golden Nugget, where we usually stay because I were here for a conference and we'll be coming back in April. Not a good choice. Will never stay here again. Ever.
Too much noise from outside...rooms too small
We stayed facing Fremont street, it was a little noisy.
Convenient Cozy Nice decor Friendly staff Floor in bathroom substandard Seemed not clean Maybe needs remodel Also freebie chips rip off Not usable on all tables and $25 each too high to really play Reasonably Suggest lower denominations
Location Staff rude rooms terrible not clean its more like a motel with gambling
This hotel was terrible Loud location, music doesn't stop till 2am, small dingy dirty room, hotel over charged for stay, rude staff, worst hotel I have ever stayed at.
It is an old era hotel from the early 1900s. There are antigues and photos worth bucks scattered amongst. When you get upstairs think green mile. Valet seems to loathe their positions. Room was dirty due to lack of care. I work in international business so i can tell when a worker is given too many rooms, tht or a lack of training. Brittle doors slam all times of the night as the plywood hallway floors play lullaby late into the night letting you know who is up and heading where any time you like (usually 2-5am( Thumbs Down Kids
Great value, clean rooms and clean organized casino floor. Bathroom a little small but well stock with towels
Convience Tony Romas restaurant. They offer steak and lobster for $11.99 from 9:00 - 11:00pm. We went to eat at10:20 and were told that the wait was too long. I waited all night to have that dinner. Although the manager was nice enough trying to explain the situation I was not happy that we were not offered some sort of comp.
The hotel room is very cheap. The bathroom was small and disgusting. Very out dated. The only up to date thing in the room was the T.V. Also plumbing was bad as well. Took water forever to drain out of the sink and tub. Would not recommend.
No pool and "non" smoking rooms still smelled very much like cigarette smoke.
good location if you like the freemont experience affordable valet parking is nice our room was ransacked while we were out! reported to security, no response at all. there is no swimming pool :( loud, duh its the freemont experience but yes LOUD in your room. air-conditioner loud and didnt work very well to cool the room. no wifi! what?!! yes true. guess they want you out gambling instead. no coffee no fridge in room, guess they want you out of room...
Location Front desk very unorganized and under staffed, slow
Nothing The room was too small, there where no curtains on the window just wooden shutters, the room was very hot in the morning, but at nights its was freezing. The bathroom was horrible, it was very small! I dont recommend this hotel to anyone!
Room was next to strip way to noisy
Low nightly rates. Convenience to the attractions. Free valet parking at Fremont. No self parking at Fremont. Free self parking at California Hotel. Get the voucher at Fremont but present it to California for a refund of any fee paid at California. No Resort Fee. Depending on the resort reservation, you can even get a $10 voucher towards the restaurants, etc. We reserved a "2 double/1 King room" and ended up with the 1King bed. There's 4 of us (2 adults + 2 teens). Front desk gave us a foldabed for free. For the price? No complaints on the older room and austere bathroom (e.g., shower head about eye level of a 5'8" person). $9.99 wifi per day per device. If you have 2 devices (ipad, iphone with limited data plan, etc), you pay $20 per day. ---> Resort fee of $20 per day would be better when it includes wifi for any number of devices. Website only indicated "wifi". I think this racket is even worse than the resort fee, which, at least is shown in the reservation page of travel websites. The payable wifi for our stay was not shown anywhere in our reservation details. We reserved through a website called Amoma, which was one of the sites referred to by Kayak I did not bother to check if they have a swimming pool. I think they don't.
Freemont street experience location. Buffett was very good. Valet parking worked well for us. NO RESORT FEE!! No pool - and the California hotel pool that Fremont shares with was closed. Older hotel. . .
Our room was facing the west we could not hear the bands on fremont st. the room was plain bed was old but clean. No frills but good enough for us. They were kind enough to let is check in on a friday at 1 pm which was great after long flight. toilet over flowed onto floor. window did not open in smoking room.
