it was conveninet to Victoria, breakfast satisfactory nearest toilet on floor below, nearest shower two floors above and it took 3 efforts to get correct directions to these facilites from staff, very poor facilities, hotel needing serious upgrade
The comfort of the beds, the showers, and the full English breakfast. No air-conditioning
The English Breakfast
The location was excellent - very close to Victoria Station - easy walking distance even with baggage! Climbing the stairs with baggage was difficult.
location close to Victoria bus station
Low cost Internet system was out, satalite television was not functioning, and thin walls so very noisy.
the location- very close to Victoria Coach Station and Subway no particular aspect
The proximity to Victoria coach station and bus links. The breakfast was good and the staff friendly. The toilet and washing facilities were cramped. The washing basin was chipped and spotty. Worst of all was the sound proof. We could hear people talking next door and tv noises. Our next door neighbours had the tv on until 3.30 in the morning and switched on again at 6.30 a.m.
Wonderful stay, lovely unique rooms, great location was very close to everything but in a slightly quieter residential location, very clean, friendly and helpful staff, couldn't have been happier Room didn't have a shower, only bathtub, but that was fine for me. If I was travelling with my tall husband we would need to make sure we got a room with a shower. Floor level doors could have been marked. It is very hard trying to find something negative about it!
within walking distance to Victoria station, quiet road. Acceptable for one night. rooms are very small, difficult to adjust room temperature. Small breakfast buffet, choosing english breakfast is the better choice, although I have to admit that I had better ones.
service no fan in room
Really nice hotel. Good breakfast that was included. Large room (for London). Very nice bed and linens. Great helpful staff.
Staff was amazing! So helpful! Location was just ok.
Hotel amenities were nice (not great, nor extravagant) but an incredibly friendly and accommodating staff and a very convenient location for the many of the major attractions
I was removed from my table to another table when I was having breakfast, without any reason. embarrassing.
Very close to Victoria station and good restaurants. Service staff was very helpful and friendly. Nice bathroom and very modern rooms. Quiet street. AC not too strong, which is typical in Europe.
We received a warm and friendly welcome which continued throughout the stay. The twin room we had was actually quite spacious unlike almost every other hotel I have stayed and was a positive improvement on having 2 beds squashed closely together with hardly any room around them.
Great location with easy access to Victoria station, Kings road & Sloan Square. Fair sized rooms which were cleaned daily. Had breakfast 2 out of 4 days. The meal was nice but price a bit expensive. Very helpful staff and pretty quiet given that there are only eleven rooms.
I was a bit sceptical because I thought the price was a bit low for a five star hotel but the room was fantastic and the staff were very friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a short break in London. There was a stain on the carpet - This was negligible though as everything else about the room was amazing.
Quiet atmosphere. Water not hot enough.
Very courteous and helpful staff - thank you Fabien. This high quality hotel is very well furnished with high quality fixtures and fittings. I would it to anyone.
the service was impecable. nothing was too much trouble. the rooms were also beautiful. i would choose this over a similarly priced large hotel every time.
The above says it all. Nothing.
Large comfortable room with good access to all transportation Bathroom very small and hotel air conditioning still was not installed. It may finally be completed by end June
The hotel is in a cracking area just 5 minutes from Victoria. The street is very quiet and the hotel was in a nice location. The hotel was very quiet (apart from the extract fan in the bathroom that sounded like a burst car engine at times)...Room was very comfortable, if a bit on the small side. Room was pretty small with no-where in the bathroom to put toiletries other than a little wire basket thing supplied. Also no real place to put your suitcase that then didn't interfere with any storage space for clothes. Also, surprisingly for a 5* hotel the staff never asked if we wanted any papers in the morning :(
Wimbleton, relaxed and some exploring
We absolutely love the Goring which almost feels like home when we arrive; always a lovely welcome and one feels so spoilt! Thankyou too for upgrading us to such a magnificent room - what a beautiful view of the garden and the rooms are so quiet in spite of being so close to Victoria. John and Marcelle Pyne
Michelin Star restaurant was unbelievable! Staff and management were absolutely wonderful! We will be back soon!!!!
Comfortable, country house style of hotel - quite small. Helpful staff and pleasing decor. Delicious dinner. Rather disappointing breakfasts and porridge made with water!
The room was charming and the bedding, linens, etc was excellent! The staff was friendly and helpful at all times.(especially loved the gentleman and the entrance who has been w/you for 45 yrs!) Decided to sit w/our friends in the dining rm while they had bkfst (which was included w/their room--they booked thru a travel agent and we had booked online). The hotel charged us 10 pounds for a cup of coffee and we thoght that was a bit outrageous.
The service was exemplary. In every instance the staff went beyond the call of duty to cater to our every need. I would stay there again and recommend it to all of my friends and colleagues. My only difficulty was flushing the toilet with arthritic hands- it took a fair bit of effort.
Great staff. Very friendly and helpful.
its friendliness and excellent location
location, high standards, excellent service beds too small, not very comfortable
No Tea and coffee facilities in the room
Superb service geared towards aristocracy.
Let me make tea in my room without needing room service
Attention to detail. Pleasant, friendly staff. Design of hotel foyer and lounge -like a very upmarket gentleman's club. Wardrobe door with full length mirror inside wouldn't open fully. Disappointing as my daughter and I were attending a dinner in an exclusive venue and wanted to make sure we looked our best.A minor point to some, but could be rectified by placing the mirror inside the adjoining door.
The staff were first class. The breakfast was excellent. The ambiance was great. The only minor comment was that in our room you couldn't fully open the wardrobe door which had the full length mirror on it because it was blocked by the door closer on the room door. Nothing really, but could only give the hotel 99.9% instead of 100%.
The staff was excellent, attentive and warm. The rooms were lovely; beds and showers were the best I've experienced. Plunder the pantry was fun.
Everything, food, attention to detail and comfort, very reasonable price, breakfast and champagne included, one of the best hotels in London and one of the more reasonably priced, which seems odd but thats how it was. No hidden extras and car parking. Just brilliant. Will definately be going back.
The room was a good size for London and well-appointed with excellent amenities such as Penhaligon's products and daily service of ice, water, fresh lemon slices and olives, bedtime treats, newspapers.
Nice small Hotel in a very nice location. Very nice rooms, quite and chic
Very friendly and welcoming staff. Everything you wanted was there. Relaxing and comfortable rooms. Great turn down service with candles! The exec lounge was great, like a living room in your home. We had a lovely stay.
a wonderful oasis amidst the bustle of victoria
The professionnalism and kindness of its personnel No cigar lounge
Ambience and luxury there was nothing I disliked
Wonderful hotel in so many ways; location, expansive and luxurious accommodations, service. We booked a junior suite, but were graciously upgraded to a one bedroom suite. We had so much room! As for value, other 5 star hotels cost as much or more ,but only offered a small room. Don't hesitate to book this hotel for a unique and outstanding experience. No complaints at all. Excellent in all areas.
It is very bad, noisy and old hotel it was same 2 star or B&B
The staff and venue was beyond excellent!
the friendly professional staff. I was given an upgrade which I appreciated not that I needed a 2 bedroom suite as I was on my own. there was nothing that I didn't like.
The service was excellent. We never left the building or returned to our room without a staff member greeting us with a friendly smile and kind words. The room(s) were a great set-up for a family and allowed comfort and space for a reasonable price. The location was convenient for all site-seeing and public transportation.
The staffs personal attention to our needs during our stay. It made our stay very pleasent.
so much to like: the rooms themselves were lovely, spacious, immaculate, with incredibly comfortable beds. The grounds are gorgeous. Great location - situated between Buckingham Palace & Westminister Abbey & around the corner from the Underground; thus every other part of London within reach. The workout room (gym) had all one would need for great workout, but even better than all else, the INCREDIBLE staff! So professional, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable- in particular the concierge team!
The design Extremely rude staff
5 star facilities, superb service. Spacious apartments. Extremely hospitable staff. Price is commensurate to 5-star status.
Staff, Quiet Room Complicated Payment procedure, inflexible invoicing, staff was not able to put the correct invoice adress.
Very comfortable , well equipped with excellent friendly and obliging staff.
Hotel staff was very friendly , checking in and out was very easy
we'll be back- fantaastic position- best London hotel we have stayed in. being asked to pay for internet access
The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was sumptuous The rooms were bit small
The food was delicious! Breakfast consisted of Indian food and your traditional English breakfast. I am a vegan so I was very happy with the Indian food choices. The wait staff at the Hampton Bar was top notch. We never had to wait for anything. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. There was a lot of construction happening across the street when we visited, but that is no fault of the hotel. Our room was not facing the street, so it was not a disruption.
Location location location staff was well I tune with my needs (where to go what to do) and they were very attentive to making my stay comfortable
Wonderful location. Room was not clean, bathroom had mold on walls, stains on carpet. Too noisy, could clearly hear people on room above walking & using restroom.
This hotel offers a welcome change from the big American chain hotels. Although it is part of an Indian chain, it has managed to preserve an old world charm. The Christmas tree in the lobby along with all the comfy couches and the Elle lovely courtyard made it feel very cozy and comfortable. The bathrooms could be a bit bigger but this seems to be a common problem with London hotels in general.
Enjoyed our store and appreciated the beautiful court yard in the hotel as well as the complimentary breakfast. Having stayed at multiple hotels in London, this one was the best value
The hotel was sold out so the room they gave us through Kayak was not so good, a bit tarnished and with warning signs everywhere, We stayed in better rooms in this hotel in the past. They used to give us welcome notes and a fruit basket to thank us for coming back But, this time, no note, not a great room, as if they were indifferent because we had booked through Kayak (with which they are not partner). It was not possible to change for a better room for 4 days. Then, a wonderful attendant, Adriana moved us to a better room for an additional fee. So,we had s a better experience toward the end of the stay. I am a fan of the "free breakfast" which seem to attract a non-business crowd.... As a result, a loyal returning guests get a luck ward welcome.
Location, near tube station and yet accessable to Westminister, Buckingham Palace, London Eye and other tourist sights on foot.Room was comfortable and spacious. Bathroom could do with updating. No complaints
Our room had a balcony overlooking the impressive courtyard and was well equipped and prepared. Check in and out was effortless and staff were friendly and well informed.
Very attentive and friendly staff. Great restaurants and Spa inside the hotel. Spacious and well equiped rooms. Great location close to Victoria station (ideal when you fly into Gatwick), in walking disctance from the tube, Westminster, St. James' park and Buckingham palace. First room we were given (#352) had a lot of noise from the subway passing underneath, despite the fact that we had explicitly asked for a quiet room! From the second night on we got a very quiet room.
Clean, comfortable, well organised.
they were very nice. gave us a room upgrade and breakfast. vey good value and the room was in good condition. much better than all other hotels I have stayed in in London except the dorchester which is correspondingly expensive!
The hotel was literally a stones throw from the Apollo Theatre and Victoria station. Was clean and the staff were helpful.
they were very accommodating to our needs. we arrived before there was a room available and they took our luggage and stored it for us and then upgraded our room when we came back several hours later to officially check in. Extremely friendly hotel personnel. lovey décor and enjoyed the lobby bar and wait staff there. we thought our room was very clean and the linens and hygiene products first rate. also very upscale.
this is a fine hotel in a good location. the room i stayed in was massive, the bathroom was terrific....deffinitely recommend it to anyone the food, and health suite(massage etc) were quite expensive and beware the fridge, it is charged automatically once you remove anything from it....
Location. Comfort of bed. Good check in Not having the executive lounge facilities pointed out to me so i wasn't able to make use. Room carpet wasn't clean and bathroom could have been cleaner.
Very close to trains, tubes and some shops. Room clean and big. Would stay again. Staff very friendly and helpful. Booked a twin room but ended up with a king size bed not sure where booking mix-up happened, just watch for that.
convenient location for transport links and city more effective double glazing is needed to reduce traffic noise
Location - perfect for a London weekend Breakfast was outstanding US outlets Quiet
Superb hotel for decor, great location for seeing and gettng around london due to its 2 min walk from the tube, would definately stay there again!
Location near Victoria Station. Nice and clean rooms. Modern and functional. Personell of the reception desk are nice and polite, but less effective and lack the entusiasm to follow up on problems. We bought the plaza plus package, but did not get a newspaper before asking twice. Never got comlementary chocolate in the room, only got on set of bath robe for a double room etc. Although staff promissed to correct these errors, it never happend. Finally we gave up and did not bother to ask again.
Checking in was very smooth. The mattress was very, very soft. So much so if you sat on the end of the bed you could quite easily have rolled off!
Excellent location. Room was very dated and basic.
Convienence toilet facilities only just acceptable
The Grosvenor is expensive and a nice splurge in London. It's located right in Victoria Station, so it is perfect if you're seeing shows, going to the Kew, or any tube connection. The Gatwick Express is direct from Victoria to Gatwick and back. The lobby is a throwback to the grand old days of luxury hotels. The high tea is expensive and wonderful -- a real treat. Even if you don't have the high tea, the pots of tea are delicious and the tearoom is very elegant. Staff service is hit or miss. Some were very friendly and helpful, others less so. We were quite jet lagged when we arrived. The attendant said something about having to notify them the day before in order to get a discount on breakfast, which made no sense to me and in our state of exhaustion just went right over our heads. The next morning when we went to breakfast, of course we didn't get the discount because we hadn'tt "notified" them. Why is this necessary? They were very helpful with directions, printing boarding passes for us, and other services.
Location is great if you need a train to Gatwick. Also for acces to sights in London. Staff we helpful and it was a nice stay,
Room appearance very poor, furniture needs replaced, bathroom sink cracked and dirty appearance, constant noise from announcements from station!
Excellent location especially if you know nothing about London. My 7th floor room was quiet and great for sleeping in. You can walk to many tourist locations. We had a great time. The breakfast was the exact same food every day
Clean room and good hotel location
helpful and friendly staff
Old-style luxury hotel with modern comfort Nothing to dislike
Location is very convenient. Hotel staff is good. The restaurant offer is quite large, good and inexpensive. The rooms (carpet, furniture, bathroom facilities) looked old and worn-out.
Excellent location which why we had booked again Very small room considering what we paid, we previously considered the hotel good value but not anymore, we even had breakfasts at Victoria as the prices for that were prohibitive.
Clean room, pleasant attentive staff, extensive breakfast buffet. Crossing the street to get to the taxi stand can be hazardous
Central location. Hotel looked great and the room was very clean, spacious and had lots of facilities- iron/tea/coffee/sports channels/trouser press/ shower and bath/fridge/air con apart from our fridge not working and we could not get our heating to work it was all great
Pleasant atmosphere with polite helpful staff, bright and pleasant reception area, room light and cheerful.
Near Central London, and close to Chelsea and cadogan Hall (concert) The price - too expensive
close to Victoria Station. Way over priced room, but very close to Victoria Station. Lobby is dark and depressing, room was better than lobby. clean and comfortable. Problems with shower draining. Breakfast buffet was average, fruit was not fresh.
The location was convenient. The hotel room was quiet. The bed was awful, felt like sleeping on springs, very hard. The bathroom was a joke. I had to spend time reattaching the bath hardware as it came off when I tried to use it. There wasn't one part of the shower that was acceptable. The shower head wouldn't stand up, pieces were falling off so I had to use it as a hand shower. This hotel is in serious need of updating. Everything is worn out, stained and terribly cleaned. Surfaces were obviously not cleaned thoroughly often as you could see the dirt. Overall I was quite grossed out by the whole experience and would never stay at this particular Doubletree again.
nothing particullary the electricity plug for shaver was out of order
Location, cleanliness, breakfast selection, room. wifi not included in rooms.
Staff went out of their way to provide prompt and courteous service. The location is right across the street form a major train station and access to Circle and District subway lines. Rooms were modern and clean. Breakfast was ... expansive... the classic British breakfast. The restaurant and bar were comfortable. The concierge gave us a great tip to a nice Indian restaurant within easy walking distance. Frosted glass door on the bathroom means that if you turn on the bathroom light in middle of the night you wake up your partner as well.
The location is excellent for speedy access to the main attractions in London. The room was a good size. When we arrived (at about 4pm) there were no quiet double rooms left unless we upgraded, which I thought was poor. The pillows were much too big for me. I tried ringing reception to see if there were alternatives; I held on for ages but the phone was never answered. In the end I phoned room service and they sorted me out. The room was far too warm and the air conditioning did not sufficiently cool it. At reception they told me that the weather had been unusually warm which had taken them by suprise, but in my view they should have been able to sort it out. The breakfast is good but extremenly expensive; I would have liked fresh brown bread.
Excellent Location in Pimlico. Very quiet. Very safe. Window opened to a very quiet courtyard of apartments so we didn't have to always have the air conditioner on. Breakfast was very expensive.
Great location for being close to Victoria Station and an easy walk to all the main sights such as Westminster Abbey, or the river walk. The room, while small, was very comfortable and cozy. The rooms are a bit small so it was initially difficult to navigate my bag into the room. Also, the front desk staff told me when I checked in late on Sunday that most places were open for dinner until 11pm, but everything was closed after 9:30pm.
Proximity to tube, palace and a good pub..(Bag of Nails - 50yds)Attentiveness of staff. Nothing was too much trouble.
The staff were excellent No pool/jacuzzi facilitiesbathroom a tad small considering deluxe upgrade taken
Excellent location, superb room and staff were exceptionally polite and accomodating. In fact the staff really stood out among a lot of hotels I have been at. Breakfast was also great. The Guiness tap was out at the bar.
the staff was wonderful and the location was top of the chart
staff very friendly and knowledgeable smallest of room
Free room upgrade. Good Location. Very Nice Hotel. Bar meals a bit pricey. Very squeeky floorboards.
Staff were friendly
helpfulness and friendliness upon reception door of room needs caulking to reduce noise from hall
great effiicient and genial staff nothing
A quality hotel with good restaurant and bar, good service and close to convenient transport links (train/underground/taxi) On this occasion our room, although well presented, was very small with an undersized double bed. Supposedly a quiet room, there was noise from the air-conditioning plant outside.
Very clean, nice-looking hotel. Great staff--very helpful and friendly. Nice, high-quality amenities. Generally had a luxurious feel despite rooms being small. Excellent location on quiet side-street, around the corner from Buckingham Palace. Generally, no complaints! The rooms are pretty small, but this isn't an issue if you only have one or two people in your room and, if you're like me, don't waste time hanging in your room while on vacation.
