Great location. The lighting system requires a sense of humor. It is very easy to mistakingly turn out the lights on someone in a different room. You may want to bring a flashlight
Bathtub was awesome. They had outlets for US plugs too.
We booked this friend to stay overnight as our friends were having their wedding at The Ballroom in Park Plaza. Thank god the wedding was good, because that was the only good thing about this hotel!! As we were part of the bridal group we contacted the hotel months, weeks and even the day before check in to request an early check in, that never happened!! As an apology because our hair and make up artist was standing in reception, we were only upgraded for 2 of the 4 rooms. During and after the wedding, we got stuck in the lift (which was already broken but not decommissioned) no apology from the evening staff and no acknowledgement of their errors, rather I am told "I am done talking to you". After our party having spent tens and thousands of pounds, this is the treatment we received. No compensation and no complimentary offers to any of us.
That the coffee maker in our room didn't work.
Breakfasts were fantastic and location was excellent!
The hotel was exactly as I thought it would be based on all the excellent reviews written online. It is located close to all the tourist attractions and the subway is nearby to take you to wherever your heart desires. There is good food and entertainment at the hotel if you want to stay in. So go ahead...book this hotel...you won't be disappointed!
The location was superb. Rooms were comfortable. pricing was very fair bar was a bit loud at night due to music. prices are, well, London i.e. a bit high.
The location of the hotel is excellent, right in the center of London, walking distance to the London Eye, Westminster Abbey and Big Ben of Parliament building. We really loved the breakfast.
Location was great, and they upgraded us up when we got there. Room was very spacious & clean. In addition, they had gluten free breakfast options. Walls were not flush in one place in our rooms, which made it too easy to hear our neighbors in the early hours... (meaning there was a space between the walls.)
Situation plus we were at an Indian wedding in the hotel
Overall stay was very comfortable except there was a very loud wedding party on Saturday night that didn't end till past 1:00am, but the hotel gave me a very generous discount for that night. Would also have liked more overhead lighting because the atmosphere in the room was rather dim!
Good service Great location Breakfast buffet same everyday. Not much selection for 5 star luxury hotel. I stayed 13 nights and every morning same small selection of breakfast. There should be a lot more selection .
The room was fantastic with view over the Thames, Bed very good and quite and the Hotel is tucked out of the way but in easy access to all of London We did not get a warm welcome at reception, They tried to put us in 2 single beds when I had booked river view doudle. They would not take my word so I had to go back to the car to get our booking. It is also hard to get a cab from this hotel.
Hotel is very well located - 50 meters to Embankment Tube, walking distance to Covent Garden, Taffalgar Square. Service was great. Room was very nice and comfortable with heated bathroom floors, but no views to speak of. Would definitely stay here again. Great deal at $250US pricepoint. Nothing.
It would be a good 4 star hotel. good heating and hot showers. food was barely edible, always stale. reception service is appalling. In desperate need of refurbishment, old TVs, design. It was just a bed and a bathroom, not a 5 star hotel.
good location, good service
rooms spacious and very clean. staff very helpful and friendly. well situated for site seeing and close commuting facilities to explore the rest of london. no spa facilities that i was made aware of.
The welcome and service of all the staff. Everyone especially the Hungarian gentleman bent over backwards to make an extra effort every single time I approached them. More likely they approached me quicker, to help with my pushchair and baby. They were polite and fantastic. Your real asset!! The towels had an awful smell (I have a sensitive nose). My room was no 847. When I enetered the room I could smell the pigeons in fact I looked at the window sill and sure enough there was pigeon poo - and the windows hadn't been cleaned in some time? There was no child quilt / blanket provided with the cot (and, although the cot was provided, I had to ask for this to be made). The staff could be taught level one english.
Everyone is polite and not overbearing. The room although we felt is was quite small it was peaceful and very clean. The only point was a dirty wet cloth left on the wardrobe shelve which was a little unpleasant,
Location is perfect for the theater district. Staff is very friendly and accommodating indeed. Hotel is very elegant, a bit formal. Could be intimidating for a tourist from the US west. Got a good room rate, but drinks, tea, and breakfast were as expensive as you'd expect from a 5 star central London hotel. We ended up changing our room twice -- the first time at the suggestion of the bellman, because it didn't have any view. The second room had a view but was way smaller than the other, and had no bath tub. We were moved a third time at our request and got a wonderful room (but without a river view). The staff made both moves very easy indeed.
Service and staff were exceptional. Made us feel special and very welcome.
The rooms were comfortable and we had a lovely view of the river and the lighted ferris wheel. The staff were courteous, professional, and responsive. The location is great. The concierge was quite helpful. Breakfast was great but if we had not obtained a good price including breakfast, the a la carte cost of adding on breakfast would not have been worth it. The hotel is lovely and we hope to stay there again. For about half of our stay the hotel telephone system was not working. The sink in one of our rooms was quite high and uncomfortable for our elder and short relative.
I was removed from my table to another table when I was having breakfast, without any reason. embarrassing.
Really nice hotel. Good breakfast that was included. Large room (for London). Very nice bed and linens. Great helpful staff.
Hotel amenities were nice (not great, nor extravagant) but an incredibly friendly and accommodating staff and a very convenient location for the many of the major attractions
Staff was amazing! So helpful! Location was just ok.
Helpfull stuff, good location, nice views, proximity to Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and London Eye, comfortable beds. The hotel is very tired and old fashioned, a little gloomy, small rooms, endless corridors, we had to walk to our room from the elevator like 400 meters.
Staff was polite, restaurant staff excellent, the room was confortable and quiet. The room given on the first night was not corresponding to the family room booked on your site. Booking com was blaimed by the Hotel for this situation. We were moved to a more appropriate room for the next night. Checking at the reception is a slow process and a lot of time was lost in sorting out the confusion about the room
Super hotel. Very pleasant staff. Like an oase in middel of busy city. Would like frigde in family rooms. Relaxed atmosphere. Helpful. Beautiful hotel, boys think it is oldfashioned, but I find that charming.
The location, comfort and ambience were second to none. The restaurant and bar staff do not appear to be trained at all - service was extremely poor and not in keeping wwith a 5 star hotel
The staff was great. Rooms were spacious. Luxurious. Location was amazing. I loved it.
All the staff were extremely polite and helpful. The room was generous in size, certainly for London.
I loved the room and the facilities, the food and service was excellent and I would stay at the hotel again. The staff especially were very friendly and helpful.
close to all the things London has to offer spa pool and surrounds should be renovated
comfortable beds. big spacious rooms. clean bathroom. newly decorated. noisy heater/air con. why can't there just be radiators?
I loved the location of the hotel!! We didn't realize that our view would be Big Ben, House of Parliment, Westminster Abbey and the London Eye. We were central to many of the attractions which made planning convienent (we only had to walk 5 mins for all of the above attractions and 10 mins for Buckingham Palace). We were also within walking distance to the tube, which was also easy to use:) I also loved the Concierge and Reception. They were all knowledgeable and helpful in assistancing us if needed. I was disappointed that the Spa and pool were not up to Marriot standards. I have stayed at several and when there was 'down time' I could count on being able to entertain the children in the pool area. The pool was small and the children were constantly in the way of those doing laps. Also, I did not see the whirlpool, even though it was listed as having one. Finally, the breakfast was great but expensive (20 pounds) considering that just around the corner in the same building, another hotel had the same breakfast for 7 pounds.
It was very peacefull great place to relax no
Excellent location and helpful staff Slightly disappointed with the standard of the bed for a quality hotel
The food was worth the price. The location is ideal for a city stay.
Excellent location, spacious rooms, very good bathroom. Although the staff were quite good, there were some times when we had to ask for some basic services more than 10 times. We stayed for a week, first 3 days room service was good, after that room attendant didn't even bother to swipe the floor-the layers of dust were amazing.
convenient location, clean and smart room - good internet connectivity, comfortable bed, friendly and helpful staff the room was too hot...and unable to open window or reduce temperature
Good quality of decor and fittings in rooms and public places. Excellent position for enjoying central London.
very good location in central London Lengthy wait for lifts
Convenient and good value Air conditioning not working properly
It was in a great location, right next to the tube and the London eye. The room was clean and comfortable but a little small. the food in th restaurant was very good. A couple people on the staff in the restaurant were very unpleasant and borderline rude. the front desk staff and concierge were great and very helpful
I didn't stay, my boss did and they upgraded him even though he was only staying one night! Location is very good and staff friendly
Hotel room was a little smaller than what I was used to but it was very comfortable and the staff was very friendly. It was within walking distance of a lot of awesome sights and activities. They offered free breakfast in your room if you filled out your request card the night before. I was only able to take advantage of this service once because I never received another breakfast request card.
We stayed in the executive studio and we had everything we needed. Lovely modern design - very comfortable. Great bathroom. Close to Waterloo Station. Very friendly reception staff.
I liked the apartment style of our room and the ease of registering. The room was very well designed with a contemporary feel to it and the views were spine tingling! I would definitely choose this hotel again.
This hotel is "THE" place to stay. Location-Staff-Amenities-Location!!! Excellent location to walk around London en"Joy"ing the sites. Looking at the map you will immediately realize this is a premium place to anchor your rest area. A mere 100 yards from the Charing Cross tube station, this hotel offers a more quiet locale compared to the Piccadilly area (only 1 stop away on the tube). Before I was able to ask for an early check-in the front desk professional politely stated, "If you and your family would like, you may check-in now (at noon--3 hours early!!!). After flying on a 7 hour red-eye inbound these words golden to our bodies. This unexpected blessing let us rejuvenate with a 30 minute nap before we laced up our walking shoes. Without a doubt, this proved to be 'the most invaluable" act of kindness from the staff. According to our Fitbit we then walked over 20,000 steps and 10+ miles taking nearly 500 pictures and fondly did so with smiles--no way we could have done this without that early check-in and needed pre-rest I visited for a quick 24 hours trip (with 2 teenage kids) to gain intel for when rest of family comes so we'll be squared away. Fantastic experience! Please do yourself a favor and simply stay at the CQ Trafalgar Square. Now go to the next item on your travel checklist--the place to stay is solved. Lastly, remember that when writing and reading reviews, we cannot and should not evaluate others in their actions by using "our intentions" as the litmus test to criticize their performance. Translation: If I can only make porridge or PB&J's, I have no authority to critique one who "is" a chef but has different taste buds than my own. Enjoy your trip to this great city wherever you decide to stay and remember the reality of your trip--you are there for the city not the hotel. If anything is less than you believed prior to arrival, simply have a nicer dinner when you're out and bring the staff back a little sweet treat. Your act of kindness will be passed onto a future guest at the hotel. Be Well and Safe Travels :)) PS. Review written by a man with 34 years of worldwide travelling experience...and 11 more to go until retirement. Enjoy the people first, and human made structures second. Blessings. This box should be empty. CQ Trafalgar Square performed outstandingly and the owners of this hotel should be commended for their ability to not only acquire a premier property for travelers visiting the great city of London and but more so for accomplishing the most difficult task in any business--employing caring humans to transfer customer service models and ideals into memorable experiences for the traveler. Well done CQ Trafalgar Square...well done.
Location is fabulous for tourists and the room seemed pretty clean. I did my own wipe-down with wipes and there wasn't much left behind. Maid didn't replace my washcloth even though I purposely left it on the floor to indicate that I wanted a new one. Room was small and the view from the window was nothing but a wall.
Beautiful hotel centrally located in the heart of London's biggest attractions. Loved the ability to walk everywhere without ever needing a taxi. Wonderful stay and would recommend to close friends and family.
Location. There is nothing to say about the hotel, is normal 4* hotel, nothing to complain but nothing to admire. Nice bar. I was staying alone in double room, for one it was ok. for two would be definately small.
Quality comfortable accomodation in central london at a fair price. The relationship between Club Quarters,The Grand and The Northumberland was a little confusing.
Location . Dislike. Booked non smoking big room with kitchen. Was given smoking room ( as if they just had held a smoking party).Eventually offered a non smoking room but much smaller and w/o kitchen . No reduction in rate ! This is truly a quarters but not hotel !
Excellent location, polite, helpful staff, well appointed rooms.
Staff was friendly, professional, and responsive. Clean, quiet, and modern rooms with big screen TV. Beds are comfortable and relatively new. We were able to check in early for a reasonable fee. Bathroom had no ventilation and you have to prop open the door to clear the moisture after a shower.
Convenient & central location , very comfortable Customer service needs to improve
Location is excellent, v close to Charing Cross and Embankment underground stations and walking distance to Leicester Square and Covent Garden. Bathroom small-ish and towels were old but functional. Shower was reasonably strong and water was hot.
Perfect location for us. Minimum fuss. Good room and bathroom with everything we needed. The card check-in system and the lift operated by card - not obvious which way to do it and everyone we met felt the same. Needs rethinking
The fact that the staff were friendly and that the hotel was a reasonable price Only that we were unable to have a drink brought to our room after 11pm even though we asked about this previously and were told it was a 24hr service.
generally efficient and good rooms not cleaned on regular basis. i was told it is once a week. at least the rooms can be cleaned more frequently even though linen need not be changed for a few days.
The location was perfect and many of the tourist sights were within walking distance so we saved quite a bit on travel and travel fares. On a weekend visit you do not spend much time in the hotel, but I would stay here again because of the location. I would advise people to avoid the £9 cost of breakfast and just walk round the corner to a small cafe and pay half the price.
The location is perfect to see many sights and close to the underground. There are NO American Outlets anywhere, and I understand that yes I am in the UK and they don't have the same voltage as in the States, but EVERY hotel I’ve ever stayed at in Europe has had at least ONE American Outlet. The outlets are no where near mirrors. So even if you packed an outlet converter, you wouldn't be able to see yourself do your hair. CFL lighting instead of LED, which take a long time to warm up and are not as bright. Instead of having One Strong WIFI Network, they had over a dozen WEAK Ones. You had to constantly re-connet to Wifi because the signal would go out. We spent majority of the time reconnecting between 3 different Citadines Wifis. The bathtub/shower is so high off the ground, you have to physically climb into it, and careful not to fall out. I almost fell out completely one, but thankfully my boyfriend caught me in time. Our in room fridge creaked and moaned all hours of the night, and soon became part of our nightly sleep, Given the Opportunity, I would NOT stay here again.
Great location, excellent cleanliness, apartahotel concept very good. Internet useless. Recommend bringing your own USB modem
The room had a kitchenette with cook-top, refrigerator, dishwasher and flatware/glassware. These amenities came in handy to prepare a meal or have snacks on-hand instead of purchasing every meal at a restaurant. The room was a good size for a in-town European location. The room and bathroom were clean and well-kept.
It was in central London No complimentary tea/coffee making materials
It isso convenient and central for shopping and the theatre I thought the carpets in the corridors were threadbare
Great location (just off Trafalgar Sq. and 2 mins walk from the tube station); room is big by London's standard and the price; reasonable facilities The room smelled a bit when I first moved in, especially the kitchenette, either it got better later or I got used to it. Linens were not changed during my stay (3 nights), but you sort of expect that with a serviced apartment. I would be better if we were told how often they change though.
Location is excellent. Very clean with a kitchenette with microwave, stove, dishwasher, electric kettle. Very nice to be able to have breakfast and not have to change clothes. Very green with a toilet tank that is topped by a little sink where u wash your hands and it automatically fills the toilet tank; ingenious!! Little staffs also a a bit dark in the rooms but that's because they use energy saver lights do OK with me.
Great service . Very good secure parking
We liked the location as we were visiting art galleries and also had a trip to the theatre. It is in a very convenient spot. We found the room cold in the evening and could have done with another blanket or two, as the weather was very cold. The thermostat didn't appear to work. We woke up cold in the night.
Location The room and hotel needed refurbishing and there were only old blankets on the bed.
Fantastic location.Very pleasant room.
Very good room size. In fantastic historic building. Excellent large shower.Excellent central location. Check in area a bit cramped and rather disorganised. Called over to us as were leaving check in to give info. about facilities etc. Not very professional in approach. However check out very smooth and so above may just have been a one off at a busy spell.
tv - internet facilities no outside smoking area
location - in the heart of the city Comparing with other 4 star hotels at the same price the rooms are very small. I booked around 4-6 weeks in advanced asking for city view and all I got was an inner courtyard... I advice that this kind of requests to be processed early and not in the last day when there are no rooms available to choose from.
good size room, staff very friendly and helpful, quiet hotel whilst being in a very central location no residents bar, reception area bland and personality-less
hotel is centrally locatated in london, tube station just around the corner, walking distance from the beautiful covent garden. i loved the service the hotel provides where u can check out on a touch screen computer without having to go to reception. on checking in, we were going to be charged double what i agreed to pay on this web site. only for having my print off of the receipt i wonder would we have had any come back.. not a good start! i booked a studio kitchenette but only got a double room with sofa bed. to be honest we were so tired after coming back from a hard day of shopping we hadnt the energy to argue as long as our room was clean and slept 3 comfortably we didnt mind.
Very good place in the middle of the centre Staff at the desk, were unintrested and not really friendly
Ideal location and good size of rooms
The location was excellent, very near the tube station embankment, a short walk from covent garden. It was very comfortable. no
The hotel was very clean and had good visual appeal. It was also in a great location. The room became very cold at night.
front guys were terrible. we reserved taxi in the dawn for the airport but they didn't even checked. it we get the taxi by ourselves we were late for the bus for the airport inthe 3 o clock in the morning
Bathroom exceptionally poor.
Location We staying in hotel for 2 nights and at 8am both mornings workmen where outside our hotel They where really loud and drilling. We complained as we where not warned about this but where told we could not be could not be moved.
My wife and I both enjoyed the friendly atmosphere The hotel was too warm!
It was quiet, lobby was clean and modern. The room was much smaller than expected, for 3 people it was very tight. We had only 2 sets (like coffee cups, shower fluid). The view was very disappointing. Hotel is far from metro station in nasty area.
The Breakfast was very good. The rooms were a good size too. The rooms were boiling hot. they are installing air conditioning at the moment, but our room did not have any, and it was uncomfortable, and unbearable to sleep in.
The location of the Hotel. The cleanliness. The staff.
lovely hotel very central would deffinately stay here again.
Good facility's, new Hotel, central location.
Attitude of the staff, friendly and not supersilious. I forgot ot mention that the shower in my room sprayed directly onto the opposite wall rather than in the shower tray
We loved the hotel. Our only "but" was the size of our room; it was a superb room in every way but size. I found out later that this is their standard room; we could, however, upgrade to any of an assortment of bigger rooms or suites for a fee. Since there were none available, we didn't get to check these out. Our rate included breakfast which was splendid, with a large variety of both cold and hot items. We highly recommend it. We will definitely return to St. Ermin's on our next trip to London.
Beautiful hotel; excellent service; great breakfast; nice gym; 2 min walk to St. James's Park tube station
Convenient location - 8 mins walk to Westminster Abbey / Big Ben, 12 mins to Trafalgar Square, 15 mins to Buckingham Palace. Overall comfortable facility, very well appointed. Quality and variety of breakfast buffet options was excellent. Staff service was exceptional! Soft mattresses end up with low spots, which is tough for people that require more back support. Bed in my room had such low spots on both sides. Narrow bath tub was a bit slippery to stand in, step out of without a convenient grab handle for balance.
We were treated very well by all of the staff. The concierge, Juan, was extremely helpful and thorough. We tried high tea for the first time and it was terrific. Well worth the price. We would love to stay at St Ermin's again when we return to London. The internet worked for my husband and my daughter, but not for me. I believe it may have been an issue with my phone, though
Conveninet location Exceptionally poor layout for breakfast
excellent location, nice staff, pleasantly surprised in over-expensive london
Excellent free left luggage service None
The location is excellent. Many sites in walking distance; close to transportation. Made two separate requests for wake up calls (on different days) and got neither wake up call!!
Excellent location, good large rooms with everything you would need for a short break, friendly and helpfull staff None
Minutes from everything you need access to. Lots of things to do and the staff was extremely helpful for suggestions. No a/c just a small fan but it sounds like it doesn't get too hot so we understand.
Location near the eye puts tourists in the middle of the action. Staff was great - friendly and responsive. Hotel is clean and well maintained. Great value for London. Very satisfied - would recommend this hotel to any tourist visiting London on a budget. This is a "value" hotel - if you want curb service for luggage, deluxe rooms, and special help with arrangements go elsewhere. The staff, however, makes every effort to provide assistance.
Great location, very clean and very quiet. Close to tube. Hotel needs a ramp at the entrance for people with heavy baggage. It's an older building without air conditioning although fans are provided. If it is a very hot day room might be uncomfortable. It was not hot on our day.
the staff were all helpfull and friendly Breakfast was excellent . Location was great.and Bar staff very friendly
Great location, very clesn, no problems
Cold plates at breakfast not enough coffee mugs dirty trays
Nice and Quiet...Good location A box of tissue (Kleenex) would be good and air conditioning...wasn't too hot when we were there though so the room only was warm in the afternoon.
Location is excellent. Easy walk to many London sights. Quiet area. Next to the Tube Station. Nothing
The staff were friendly and polite. The facilities met our needs. The location was close to tube station and within easy reach of the places we wanted to visit in London
Part of the hotel is a pub. It was freezing and the food was poor. Such a shame because the location is fantastic.
The location was great. We were just a block to the tube, and a block to a major intersection to catch buses and cabs. Our rooms were adorable, cozy, quiet and clean. Perfect spot for walks to St. James Park and Westminster Abbey. Whole family enjoyed food at the pub downstairs. There is major de-struction going on at an adjacent building, so some sidewalks and streets nearby were blocked. This also meant some construction noise, so don't expect to sleep too late in the mornings.
The room was very cold even with the heating up full blast. Food on room service was not good.
The location was awesome. We were close to everything and we were able to return to our room when the walking was too much. The bed was very uncomfortable. The springs were poking through, making it very difficult to get a good nights rest.
Right in the heart of London....easy to get anywhere throughout the city on foot or by tube in this location! Also, nice to have a pub attached to the hotel for any late-night food/drinking needs a traveler may have throughout their stay. There was some overnight/early morning noise in the alley adjacent to the hotel - seems like there is a recycling facility where lots of bottles can be heard being transferred from trucks to holding bins - not the hotels fault, but woke us up early a on a few of our days there.
great location, quiet street, nice room no
i liked best the staff's flexibility and friendly interaction. the single pane glass windows. there was a draft coming into the room, and in the morning the window will was filled with a puddle of water from all the condensation building up over night. the acoustics are pretty bad- you could hear all the construction going on outside, as well as the buses driving by, the guests in the pub, and the person in the next room coughing.
Close to Westminster Abbey and Big Ben. Good restaurants around it. Taxis are easy to find. Bathrooms are small but you ate in Europe.
location, close to underground, it was very noisy with people slamming doors
The Sanctuary House Hotel is a gorgeous centrally located hotel--2 blocks from Westminster Abbey. The rooms are clean and have lots of special little amenities that really make the stay that much more fun. The staff is very courteous & helpful. They went the extra mile to help us with everything we requested. I would highly, highly recommend this hotel.
