Hotel room was warm and comfortable, as the weekend weather was poor it was nice to get back to an inviting room. Delay in breakfast - although once we got fed it was great.
big bathroom and unique decoration of the room. there was no fridge and safe box in the room. there is no concierge most of the time. staff are not professional.
The location was excellent on Russell Square with a Cafe Nero and Pret a Manger next door. The breakfast was excellent and I would highly recommend adding that to your package. The bathrooms were some of the largest I have seen in Europe. The staff at Hotel Russell did not measure up to the overall customer service I experienced in England as a whole. They are less than accommodating to guests who booked through discount websites and treat guests who booked directly with them better. The interior is very dated and needs renovation. My friends room on the first night had a very strong cleaning chemical odor. It was unbearable for them because they have some sensitivities. The hotel was unable to move them to another room and we ended up switching rooms with them. The wifi at this hotel is spotty at best. I would not refuse to stay at this hotel again but I would probably avoid it.

The hotel has an excellent location and a very nice atmosphere. I also enjoyed the restaurant recommendations made by the concierge. The room was a bit noísy (I lived on the second floor).
Excellent location with easy access to both Russell Square and Holborn Tube stations. Lots of very good local pubs and eateries and only minutes away from the British Museum. My room was fairly large by English standards with a very nice bathroom and very comfortable bed. An excellent breakfast with a good selection of both cooked and cold items was available and included in the room rate. My stay was short so didn't note any problems whatsoever.
Good location. Historic building with attractive public spaces. Good shower with adequate water pressure. Although my room charges were fully prepaid, the front desk clerk insistent on selling me breakfast, which I did not want, and in putting a 50 pound per day hold on my credit card, even though I said I was not going to use any of the hotel's restaurants. Difficult to get into the room because a large cupboard had been situated directly insider the door, almost blocking the passageway into and out of the room.
The size of the Junior suite was wonderful! The room was a little old and had some cracks in the wall joints. They didn't have any pull in area if you arrive by car. We weren't aware of this from the descriptions and had to drive around the area to find a parking garage and then roll our luggage a few blocks to the hotel.

Spent about a week in London and stayed at the St. Giles. No regrets. Close to the West End action and much cheaper than some in the area. This hotel is also frequented by bus tours - Ugh. The room was good though small (almost Japanese hotel room small). We did not partake of their restaurants and went to a much, much better buffet down the street for breakfast. Concierge staff was very helpful

Location and cleanliness are the only positives about my stay. Poorly operating lifts. Bathroom so small. TV inoperable. WiFi requires £5 payment daily by purchasing a code from a vending machine. Long lines at check in. Long line at luggage check/collection. Never again!

we had a great visit. The staff was impeccably polite and helpful. the elevator situation was pretty bad. I don't know if some of the lifts weren't functioning or what, but we ended up taking the stairs most of the time
Food location staff , all works well , I would love to go back but when all the work is done so it'll be that bit more comfortable for me The hotel lifts were very slow and 2 was not working at all , also there was work being done for the new reception area ! As I have sciatica very bad , It was very difficult using the stairs and temporary steps the hotel put in place !
The hotel is in a good spot, next to oxford street. breakfast was an extra £9.95 each per day.
A nice complimentary breakfast the following day. We booked a table for 4 in the hotel's Italian restaurant for Saturday 27/11/10 at 5pm in order for us to attend a show. When we were ready to eat we were told that we didn't have a reservation as this restaurant did not open on a Saturday night. We were however placed in your Japanese restaurant without too much bother. Better communication with guests would be better.
Very over priced
The location was the only positive. The room was about the size of a closet, and everything smelled.
Staff were very friendly and prompt Room was noisy being on the main road at a junction. I think if two people had been in the room there would have been a lack of space around the bed area as it was a funny shaped room.

Staff was very nice and helpful. The swimming pool is big, facilities are clean. The room was not big but sufficient for a familly with 2 kids. The bathroom was clean, with a bathtube but the w.c. inside.The breakfast was delicious, but a bit expensive. A pity that the swimming pool has restricted hours for kids when you have kids but it must be appreciated for those who have not.

Location of hotel was fairly near the tube station and other faciltites nearby When I checked inot the hotel, I had to wait a long time whilst they were checking my booking.I Needed an extra bed and they offered to upgrade me to a family suite afor another 103.50pounds. They then charged me 724.50 for the 3 nights stay.I Realised later that they had overcharged me by 10 pounds because the original booking was 611 pounds. When I queried them the next day,I had to go through 2 other staff before they refunded me 10 pounds overcharge. I hope I have not been billed twice ie once by my initial booking through your website and then by the Grange Holborn hotel.
The staff are extremely helpful and location is excellent. The television selection is poor and internet costs far too much.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was very small but that didn't really bother us. Despite the double glazing and being on the ninth floor, we heard the noise of the traffic all night.
The room was a good size, nicely decorated, clean. Facilites included TV, stereo, air conditioning which is very important. Bathroom clean with nice toiletries.
Everything about this stay was great. The room was beautiful and clean, the bathroom was spacious with lots of shelf space for our stuff. the staff was wonderful. the location is ideal, and they had a big lounge for guests. It's expensive but worth it.
I really liked the room, it was just enough room for the two of us, and the bed was really comfortable! :) we got upgraded to a room with a window, so that was excellent! The room smelled a bit because of the room not having a working fan after our showers, so there was a lot of condensation in the air left over.
The location was perfect for us. We were taking a weekend break to go to the theatre and shopping. We could walk out of the hotel straight onto the street surrounded by everything we wanted. We were amazed by the excellent use of space within the hotel. It was very compact but well thought through and comfortable. The staff were very polite and helpful. The complimentary wine and cheese was a big plus for us too. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants location in the West End. A little noisy from the street at night but didn't matter too much as it was a leisure break and not business.
Location Location Location. Being in the center of town, I had the ability to stop off at Hotel Z to drop off bags, freshen up, take a break before moving on to next neighborhood on my itinerary. Tube stop directly to Heathrow a couple of blocks away made arriving and departing soooo easy. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Room was modern, quiet and clean. DEFINITELY plan on staying again. While I knew I had booked the smallest room, and was happy with it overall, the in ability to open a window for fresh air was a little frustrating. Issues with the a/c were promptly addressed, although an open window would of been a better solution. It was only because my stay was for 5 nights that this bothered me. Next visit I'll book a larger room with an open window. :-)

The best part of the hotel was it's location. It is located in a great part of London, a very busy part of London. The staff was pretty nice and there were always around to help. Well the worst part of the place was probably the size of the room and the bed. I knew my room would be tiny but for the price I paid it was crazy. The room could barely fit your luggage and yourself. A constant maneuvering around everything. The bed was the worst bed I have ever slept in. Want to know what it is like to sleep on a rock or the ground? Well come to this hotel to find out. This bed was so stiff I would wake up every morning in some sort of back pain. It was ridiculous that this is possible in a modern hotel. It's a budget hotel but seriously just get a slightly softer bed as this was ludicrous.
Friendly, polite and helpful staff, clean facility. Good location. Noisy room location above delivery dock,construction noise one night until 11 pm. Extremely poor acoustics in restaurant (am acoustic specialist in N. America) very hard surfaces,floor,walls,ceiling and other multiple reflective surfaces make for most unpleasant experience resulting in avoiding restaurant second time.

The security arrangements were good - eg lift doesn't work to go to upper floors unless bedroom key card is inserted. The breakfast was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. I thought the bedrooms were rather small for a 4-star London hotel
The hotel is very well located, close to tube stations. the room is small and facilities require renewing. some broken (faucet, door handle etc.). price is very high and is not a decent return for the money
Room was clean and right next to the Russell square underground entrance. Room was small, wifi wasn't free and the room smelled, but in their defense we didn't ask to change rooms. Kind of pricy for a holiday inn.
The hotel provides a consistent level of frienliness, efficiency and comfort. it is well placed for shopping , sisgt seeing and business (city of London banks etc).
Hassle free check in and out. Very convenient to where I was working in Gordon Square, Bloomsbury and blessed by a 24 hour car park adjacent to the hotel itself and with shops very close. The room was without half of its secondary glazing which meant that it was particularly noisy due to the proximity of nearby pubs late at night into early morning. Reception acknowledged this aspect on departure but failed to offer an explanation for the absence of part of the system.

Proximity to underground and centre of London .yet quiet. This was a shopping trip so convenient for Oxford St and Marrlebone Road. Considering how small the room was, it was quiote well equipped. Double bed was so small. Asked if there was a room with larger bed, but told they were all the same size. Hotel was full so no option to change to two singles. Not good for anyone over 5ft 10 inches.

The Hotel was an excellent location for Covent Gardens only 5 mins walk dow the road. The staff were excellent couldnt do enough for you ven upgraded our room for free. Would def return. There was nothing we didnt like, the breakfast was lovely,hotel was so clean and the staff were Fantastic.

The hotel staff was helpful with solving problems that was generated by Kayak/Hotel.com (wrong number of beds in room) while booking. Location is excellent. For a big family like us that needs place to "gather" together the lobby was very useful. Booking by Kayak/Hotel.com generated problems. Number of adults and children per room was not deliver to the hotel. When I asked Hotel.com to change the reservation through the website , NO respond. Rooms are a bit small.
Hotel is clean and comfortable. Rooms are well appointed. Location is superb. Good value for money in a city renowned for overpriced hotels. Check-out was a bit haphazard, otherwise no complaints
We arrived to the builders in reception..complete with hard hats and hard viz jackets! There had been no mention of the major refurb going on when booking. I'm sure it will be very nice when finished, but not really the first thing you want to see when entering your hotel.. I'd received a call the day before check-in to see if my booking for two colleagues double rooms (for single occupancy) could be changed to single rooms - I said not, particularly as payment was immediately taken from my card two/three weeks before on booking and the rooms were for business clients. Although I was then told 'ok..not a problem..' this was ignored...and they were put in to single rooms on arrival!

Location is great. Bed was fine and apples were a nice touch. Gym was okay. Staff was horrible. There were months in the closet--I killed three. They did a lousy job cleaning in general. The sinks and counters were not even wiped down. There was toothpaste/grim residue not wiped up half of the days I stayed there. Dirty dishes owned by the Hilton were left for, literally, a week. The cleaning staff tossed my water bottle even though it was with wrapped up my clothes on top of my luggage and then denied it. I tried to explain the problem with needing a size of plastic bottle for security. They made a lame attempt to make it right after two hours of waiting and complaining, but they could not be bothered to listen or understand the actual problem, so the solution did not work. Great location, but I would never go back. There is no accountability.
The staff was exceptional...friendly and helpful....willing to go out of their way to assist. Would stay there again. Gym was excellent and the breakfast was very good.....breakfast was available until 11AM on weekends. Met all our needs.
Location of hotel for bars, restaurants and shopping all available within walking distance. Room clean and spacious compared to other London hotels I have stayed in. The fact that there was building work in progress and scaffolding in situe which I understand from reviews on other sites has been going on for quite a while at this hotel.

This was my second stay at this hotel. I stay in Bloomsbury twice a year for business and usually stay at the Morgan Hotel. My first visit was not great. I was not recognized as a gold member while there and was given a pretty small but nicely appt. room. I had not planned on going back but there was a good deal on Agoda for a suite and so I thought I would give them another try. The room was fabulous! Room service was perfect with excellent customer service. The customer service except for a few blips here and there was very good. Just lovely all they way around and now I will look forward to staying there again in the future. I was checked in by a very nice woman who talked so lightly that I had to ask her to repeat things. She also did not handle my credit card correctly and so I ended up not being able to charge to my room--slight inconvenience--not terrible. I had a business call that got cut off and the switchboard kept connecting my party to the wrong hotel--more problematic. The breakfast wait staff was not very good. I had to get up from my table to chase them down for a cup of coffee. The basically seat you and then do not attend to you there after. The dinner food was quite good the breakfast is not worth the 21 pounds. Next time I will probably go out for breakfast.

The location and the cleanliness are factors which lead me to book, in supplement I experienced an extraordinary friendly staff. Furthermore I adore the hotel's mixture of traditional and new barock style. It was tropically hot in our room. There is no air-condition in this hotel. The window was to small to let efficiently enough fresh air into the room (temperature outside like 17°). They provided a fan, but I'm a type of person who catches a cold when I'm sleeping with a fan directed at me. Due to this I had remarkable troubles to get to sleep.

The location was superb! One minute walking distance from Oxford street and five minute to Covent Gardens. As central can be, two minutes walk to the Tottenham Rd Tube Station, shopping area, eateries, books and more.

We traveled in from Heathrow and the hotel was close to the underground stop. Easy walking distance to all major landmarks. Staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast in the morning was awesome. the 110 outlet in our room had a plug broken into it making it unusable.
Location is excellent - very convenient for Covent Garden and transport links. Most of our destinations were within a 10 minute walk. Our room was on the inner courtyard so quiet and peaceful. We had been concerned that the bathroom might prove a problem ( from reading earlier reviews) but although the door is frosted glass, it was not possible to view the occupant from the bed. We enjoyed a full breakfast on both mornings without any delay in service. All colleagues were keen to ensure that every detail ran smoothly. We did n't expect a bath in the bathroom( only a shower) so were delighted at the opportunity for a soak before our evening out. The umbrella came in handy for the unexpected shower on the first night out. We used the spa on the first evening- a little disappointed at the state of decoration. Nearly slipped on the floor when I stepped of the matting. Just to clarify that the spa is run by another company.

it is a beautiful hotel with excellent room facilities. there was a power cut within the hotel there was not an acceptable contingency plan to overcome the problems that were encounted, hence the hotel rating.
Excellent location just off the Strand. Friendly and helpful staff, and great breakfast included in my stay. Rooms are a little small. Also not much of an open lounge area for waiting around or hanging out, but tight space is to be expected for the location.

The wait time for everything was exceedingly slow. A food order could take over 90 min for delivery. The rooms were not sound proof you could here every person who walked by and what they were saying. The staff were not trained for a hotel of that price. The breakfast selection was mediocre and the same everyday for the 9 days I was there. The hotels decor is old and outdated. It was difficult to even have a bottle of water delivered. The food was less and average.

Perfect location for shopping and theater in London. Excellent breakfast in a beautiful ballroom. Nice champagne bar for a drink before dinner. Some rooms are very small and hsave no heating in the bathroom.

Not much just a city hotel
Perfect location because of walking distance to major shoppping streets and Covent Garden/Leicester Square. Good concierge services. Housekeeping started cleaning round 9 am, the noise from the hall and nearby rooms woke me up every morning. Obviously paying for location and not room size. Air-conditioning makes considerable noise.

The helpful from the staff who able to allocate a room for my very early check-in. A room is assigned which is a disable room. However, this is not the same expectation when I book a 'Superior Double Room'. I have not asked for a change as I have a very busy schedule during my stay in London.
The hotel exceeded our expectations. It was beautiful, clean and stylish, it even had fragrance oils in every corner so it smelled like heaven. The double bed room was relatively small but has everything one might need. Bathroom was big, beautiful and luxurious with boutique soup collection. The housekeeping was exceptional, the room was cleaned twice a day and little treats like chocolate was left for us once a day. Loved it!
Excellent service, cute rooms (small, but as expected), wonderful marble bath. Turn down service includes chocolates! In a convenient area, not far from the Tube.
The Location. All theatres in walking distance, lots of restaurants and Soho shops. Close to underground. The rooms are really small (I am British). Minimal mini bar and hopeless main bar. Remote control did not work, tissue box empty. Dissapointing room service menu. So although it looked the part, I was very dissapointed, not value for money

Good restaurant, nice building, clean. No hot water, only luke water. When problems ocurred during extending my stay, different solutions were promised by different persons, no promises were kept though.

The location was perfect - central to tons to see and do in London. I was nervous about noise from the street, but didn't have any major problems. The staff is friendly and courteous, everything was clean and modern, and their restaurant and bar were good. I was skeptical when booking the hotel online because of the decor (pink and green crushed velvet, really?!) but the questionable interior design didn't take much away from the fact that the hotel was clean and modern. I did end up upgrading to a king deluxe as I was worried about the size, so that helped (and the bathroom was spacious and beautiful). If you can get past the very ugly decor and an overpowering cologne-like smell that they pump into the lobby, this is a fabulous hotel.
Hotel location is key for seeing all theatre; either side of the Thames.
Polite and helpful staff and location close to where I was going out I could not at first work the lift nor put the lights on in my room because I did not know I had to put my room card in the slot. The sign in the lift is not noticeable enogh and n arrival I went up and down a few times before giving up and using the stairs. Next time I wil know.
Location was excellent, it is about 30 footsteps from the hotel till the one of theatres. view from the window was poor, smell in the room.
The location of this hotel is great. We were able to walk to so many sites from the hotel. We also liked that there were two Underground stations nearby. That made it convenient getting to and from the airport without taking a car service. The room was nice, and the staff at the front desk was very friendly. We also like the option to include breakfast with our stay. The housekeeping each day was just okay. Some days they didn't give us more than one wash cloth (there were two of us) and other days they left the windows open in our room. We were also disappointed with the breakfast each day. We would've like the buffet to include a few more options for the price. On the mornings that we ordered breakfast from the kitchen, it was often slow and the service was not that great. Other than those minor things, we enjoyed our stay at the Radisson Blu Edwardian Mercer Street.
