The rooms were nice, but our room had not been properly cleaned. There was an empty wine bottle in the trash, a stain on the carpet, and dirt on the bedspread. The location is great for exploring the city. A block from Michigan Ave, the beach, and Rush street. The customer service was not good. We waited 30-45 minutes for our bags to be brought up to our room and finally had to go down to get them. There were two bellmen standing in the lobby doing nothing and our luggage was just sitting there. As mentioned the room was not properly cleaned which is never a good feeling when you are staying in a hotel. I requested a late check-out and was immediately told "No due to someone else staying in our room and they needed to clean it". He then asked what room we were staying in. He again said it wasn't possible as someone was staying in that room and they would need to clean it. When we checked out I forgot a brand new shirt I bought while staying there. I rarely hang things in the closet and had done so since it was a new shirt. I realized this the next day and called and again was given horrible customer service. They told me it was not in the room and that nobody stayed in that room the night before so they couldn't help me. Obviously, the maid who cleaned that room took it, but they accepted no responsibility for that. Not to mention they couldn't give us a late check-out due to another guest needing the room. It's a shame the customer service was so bad because it is a nice hotel in a great area of the city.
I would have preferred a discount on the Parking for staying in the hotel.
Great location, great value for the price. Staff need to stop acting so high fallutin. Yes it is the Sofitel, but you still work for me.

Large rooms and bathrooms. Plenty of fast elevators. Great location for the north end of the Magnificent Mile. More attention to detail could be provided to the cleanliness of the shower area. Several areas of black mildew in the grout of the shower wall.

we were traveling with our toddler. the hotel crib came with complimentary johnson & johnson toiletries and a stuffed bear. the room was clean, comfortable and spacious enough to be tolerable with a toddler in the same room. the bathroom was spacious, in excellent condition and well-appointed. we were on a high floor and had a great view of the city. it would've been great to have iPhone charging docks/stations. we forgot to bring one charger.
Rooms too small
Beautiful. Comfortable, luxurious. Staff assistance was hit or miss. Very frustrating. Some staff was very helpful. Others were not to the point of carelessness or rudeness. At this hotel I had expected service to be exquisite. It was not. For the price there's other hotels with better service who value their customers more highly.

Great location and staff. Feels like a high class hotel. One of the 2 elevators was out of service. So the one was always busy. Especially with always stopping at the the Club/Lounge on one of the floors.

The staff was pleasant at check in and breakfast. The room was comfortable and well appointed. I appreciated the full size hair dryer which I'm finding to be a luxury lately. The bar was a very young hip LOUD crowd. My group felt very out of place trying to get a drink there with some coworkers and we had to leave early because of it. Coming back to the hotel after dinner there was a wait to get on the elevator between all the loud groups going up to the bar.

Exactly the amenity level that you want to pay for. Great, though not extensive, onsite amenities (gym, spa), and a GREAT restaurant/bar. I was passing through on business for one night and I had a couple of small plates and was really amazed. I'd definitely come back just to eat here, but the room was clean and well appointed too. At 44, I have to try pretty damn hard to be hip enough to chill at the ultra-cool bar at this place. I leave it to others to judge whether I was successful or not.
Is this a swingers hotel? Lots of people walking around in their underwear in the hallway. Desk said this is typical.
I have heard there is some noise Weds to Saturday late nights but I was there on a Monday night. I guess there is a nightclub. That still probably wouldn't bother me. It's a really nice hotel and if you are going for a night out in the city this is a perfect place.
The front desk hung up on me 3 times and my girlfriend twice, the comforter had black mold. So overall this place is ghetto
Had a great experience overall. The staff at the front desk, restaurant and main door were all very attentive and courteous. My room was very quiet as requested it. It was located on the 15th floor and it was impeccable. Unfortunately I didn't have the time to check out and enjoy the gym and the lounge on the 4th floor. I was very pleased and would highly recommend anyone to stay at the Godfrey Hotel.
I would have given this stay 4/5 stars had not my Fitbit been stolen. It was not misplaced nor left somewhere, it was stolen which isn't obviously unacceptable. Everything was top notch including the view, but if I don't feel safe leaving my things behind, what's the point?
The hotel is quirky, clean and comfortable. Compact rooms for people looking for a comfortable place to sleep but don't need all the bells and whistles. Everything was clean. The girl at the front desk checking in was mumbly and hard to hear. Waited 5+ minutes for a valet attendant to show up (we were the only people there at the moment). Then we were taken up to an uncleaned room. Storing our bags in luggage after we checked out was a similar struggle finding an attendant that was supposed to be there. Fortunately there was one of the staff members who continually helped resolve the issues all weekend long. He was very professional and willing to do any job with patience and a smile. Please hire more staff like him!
It looks very chic walking in. The staff was all young and super friendly. The air smelled like it was diffused with something. There was a small bar and restaurant attached, which was convenient. Room was small but clean and nice. Staff suggested a boat tour and also booked it for us AND printed off directions, which was really helpful. The room was very small.. I kept hitting my shins on the edge of the bed. My friend and I stayed there together so it made for a pretty tight space but we didn't spend a ton of time in there so it was fine. Also, no breakfast, just free coffee. We ordered towels at one point and no one ever showed up.
Almost everything was absolutely wonderful except... Cleaning staff did not fully replace my used towels and cups. Also, the location made it difficult to easily hail a taxi.
I came to stay at Hotel Felix for NYE in Chicago. The location was excellent and I never had to walk more than 15 minutes to get to anything. Just a few blocks from Michigan Ave and tons of restaurants. But, the rooms were dirty and our floor smelled horrible. I'm certain our sheets were never washed due to all of the mystery hairs I found in the sheets. We also had a mix up when we checked in. Instead of putting us in a queen room, like we reserved 4 months prior, we were placed in room with 2 full beds. When we asked to be moved to our appropriate room so were placed in a tiny room. If you don't mind sacrificing space and cleanliness for location this hotel is fine. But if you are expecting a luxurious night in the city don't waste your time.
The hotel is very modern and attractive. And it is in a good location. The bell staff is very friendly Extremely small rooms. Small bathroom with shower only whichhas a curtain not glass Detracts from look. There are no bedside lamps ! Too bad for readers.bartender is sweet, not really does not know how to make a drink-not all that familiar with different types of drinks, bar not set up didn't have cherries, fruit.
Small Room not clean
I did not like anything about this hotel. It's in downtown Chicago and it has carpet like a motel. Does not make you feel comfortable at all. The tv sucks the picture even worse. The worst hotel I've been too! Too expensive for a motel like setting. First and last time ever at this hotel. -10

The location of this hotel is perfect. It's a few blocks away from the river, Michigan avenue, and the Lake. Our room was very chic. There are hardwood floors, a nice desk area, a large bathroom, and a balcony. The minibar and room service were appropriately priced. We also loved the doorman, TJ, he was always very friendly and had the best recommendations for places to go. Make sure to ask him if you need any assistance with activities or restaraunts. He was much better than the concierge inside the hotel. The only odd thing about the room is that the entire bathroom can be open to the bed. There is a curtain from the outside that only just covers it. The concierge at the hotel was also sub par. When I asked where to get sushi he suggested the hotel restaraunt and when I asked where to get bagels in the morning he suggested whole foods. I was unhappy with this service as a concierge because they should know the hot spots in the city.

The architecture was the primary reason I choose the Dana hotel. I could hear a party going on in the room across the hallway, obviously very annoying at 10:30pm when i'm trying to sleep. When I complained the desk staff responded by telling me the noise complaint policy and that it may take a while for them to deal with the noise since the "partiers" have rights too. They weren't apologizing and they treated me like I was being difficult. What is difficult about expecting a hotel room to be place suitable for sleep? It took them over 15 minutes and 2 trips to the lobby to make things right but only after the concierge stepped in to offer an apology and an upgraded room away from the noise. He was the only one that appeared to have any hospitality training. They should hire more employees like him. Ultimately Chicago has so many hotel options, I can't see a reason to stay at Dana again.
We checked into the hotel at about 8 in the evening the night befor, and the desk clerk at that time let us know if we needed a late check-out just let the front desk know.... In the morning around 1030am, we requested from a different desk clerk a later check out time of an hour ot so. The clerk at the desk was undeservedly rude to us in telling us no. There are many better ways to deliver a no to a paying guest.

I liked the room and the view I drove from Milwaukee to Chicago for the overnight stay me and my fiancee for her birthday and we were hoping to attend the lounge on the rooftop and was denied due to a dresscode we knew nothing about i feel if i paid my money and staying at the hotel i should've been able to attend or at least tell your customers ahead of time about dresscode unfair and drove to Chicago for nothing completely disappointed

Got a bunk for $25 per night in an amazing location. Bunks had privacy screens and outlets inside and really weren't anywhere as bad as you might think. Will definitely be coming back here!!

Quirky hotel located within close proximity to the heart of Chicago. Laid back comfortable feel to the hotel with an eclectics mix of guests. Vibrant, comfortable, energetic bar located in the back of the lobby. Will definitely stay here again. Room was a bit small but that's the level we chose.
Being as I did not have a credit card I was NOT allowed to check in and my mother paid for it on line and is now being told she can not get a refund

Staff was sympathetic and helpful. The location and both the restaurant and cafe in the lobby were awesome. They were having a lot of maintenance issues during our stay. Pipes broke in the rooms next to us so the fire escape doors were open. Our heating/cooling system didn't work in our room and the best they could do was give us a fan and some drink tickets. The icing on the cake was being harassed by two bros in the elevator.

I liked almost everything about the hotel. The room was great, the day staff was great, the location is better than several in the area we stayed at in the past. Room amenities were also very good. The female employee who checked us out in the morning acted liked she was bothered by having to leave the rear office to deal with us. She was sullen and sighed and didn't even look up as I talked to her. She is NOT a good employee to have at this wonderful hotel.
This was our second stay at the Talbott. It has a great location, the rooms are large, and the staff is welcoming and efficient. We particularly like the cozy parlor areas with fireplaces. There was nothing we did not like.
Personal service. They actually get to know your name. You sort of feel a bit like family. They care about your stay. Were willing to go the extra bit to make our time there great. Thanks for a fabulous trip!

From check in everyone was very nice. We were going for a short trip to another city in the US and were going to stay again at Talbott before heading home. We didn't want to carry one bag & a set of golf clubs so asked if we could leave it behind. Talbott was very understanding and stored it till return. All hotels do it but the attitude of the staff at Talbott made the difference. ..

Room Service was as expected for similar hotels. Pricey, Ave quality, the usual limited items. Wouldn't take much to provide better then expected.
It was a great hotel, great rooms, very clean, and a pretty nice view of downtown Chicago. All of the staff was amazing and any question we had was answered. If you drive there are tons of parking garages right in the area that are in walking distance. We decided to walk everywhere since it was all right there. We loved our stay and will stay at the Hilton again.

Location of the hotel was excelent however there were some workings in the street outside but this situation I think was favorable because less traficc in the street. No claims at all, we stayed at the hotel only a short time, most of the day we were outside but the hotel was confortable and the personal polite.
The staff was so friendly and I enjoyed the free coffee service in the mornings. I also took advantage of printing out my boarding pass with their easy airline check in computer in the lobby.
The beds were nice and the rooms were very clean. The staff was okay, very effective. I liked the showers and fluffy towels. Good view. The window in my room was missing the safety piece that prevents it from opening all the. A 21 story fall may have adverse consequences to the curious child. For me it wasn't a huge deal, I don't have a kid that's going to fall out a window, but it does show a lack of attention to detail. I also noticed the exterior of the building wasn't as clean as other hotels.

The hotel was in a great location, it was close to a variety of restaurants and activities. Also there is access to the red line subway directly in front of the Hotel. It was a clean and stocked with complementary coffee! We also had great help from Reggie with our luggage. He was friendly and made everyone laugh. Alma at the check in desk was also very helpful. Overall everything was great except for our first encounter with a lady at check-in. We were trying to describe an issue we were having about our luggage. Our flight lost three of our bags and would be delivering it to the hotel. We were brushed off and felt as if our issue wasn't important enough to be listened to. Alma was able to step in and help.
The hotel is in a great location. We could walk to the Art Museum/CSO Hall as well as to the Magnificent Mile. Navy Pier is a long, but doable walk as well. SleepNumber bed is super. Linens and pillows, comfy. The Herman Miller desk chair is a nice touch. The hotel is not responsible for the construction in front, but it is inconvenient and unattractive.
Great location! Short walk to shops, parks, river/lake and transit! Lots of sirens go off at night but if you turn the fan on you can sleep much better!!!
Valet parking was very expensive for the weekend. We could've chose self parking which was around the block but did not know that until we arrived. We chose the valet parking because we were exhausted from the drive into the city. You have to really look for the hotel driveway to pull in off of the street in unfortunately we arrived on a Friday evening and it took us three or four times driving around the block in bumper-to-bumper traffic to get in.

What a fabulous find this little hotel is! Superb location, funky decor with a rock 'n' roll theme, and prices I couldn't beat after a day's searching online. Sure, the rooms are small, but the renos are modern and neat, and there's great music in the lobby, the bakery and the Berkshire Room. Definitely where the cool kids stay ... even if the cool kids are over 50!

Modern, clean room with access to restaurants: some that claim to be the home of deep dish, Eataly, and some other nice but standard places. Cute cafe in the lobby with good coffee and pastry's. Close to subway, and not too tricky to get to from airport. I was surprised to see vending in the room: the mini fridge was stocked with drinks, and there were cans on pressure plates that if you moved, you bought the items. It made me feel nervous that sitting at the desk if I jostled a can I'd have to pay $5. I had them take all of the vending things out of the room, which they did quickly and with no fuss. Probably something you want to check on if you have a problem with alcohol, have kids in the room, or just not in to having impulse purchases in your room. Also, they are a decent hotel, but all of the copy on their marketing materials and their look seems like they are trying way to hard. Show, don't tell. If you have to tell us you are cool, you probably aren't. That said, it is a fine hotel - we can like you the way you are.
Amazing staff and very nice looking rooms. The pool was ok. Breakfast was over a little early. My room had a continuing smell of fried chicken which we didn't have in the room. Be careful when ordering from kayak. When I put my parameters in for my room to have a king suite with a sofa for three adults and a child; also to include parking. When I got to the room it was only a king bed so hey had to move me to a double bed room since they were sold out of king suites with sofa. My reservation was only down for two people and after my stay I received an email saying I am being charged extra for parking.

Happy hour and breakfast were nice. Our room was not clean! Stains on the pillows and towels and hairs in the bed linens. Bathroom was tiny!!!! We had stayed here before a couple years ago and it was a much nicer room and bathroom. Not impressed at all with the housekeeping... No attention to detail.
Loved the open atrium, complimentary cooked to order breakfast, early evening cocktail and snack reception, cleanliness of the hotel and pool area. It really was a wonderful location and felt very friendly!

The courtyard was marvelous. Breakfast was outstanding. The staff went out of their way to help the guests. Room service was great. The comforter for the bed was notwell made. The batting shifted to the foot of the bed during the night.
I have stayed at the Embassy Suites Chicago near Navy Pier previously and I had wanted the experience of the Downtown hotel to compare. My experince at Downtown was excellent. I like the ease and convenience of its location. The staff are friendly as well. I had provided my feedback already before checking out. Overall, everything was good.

The staff was friendly. The construction noise was terrible. Construction was happening at 7 am on Saturday morning directly outside our window. The breakfast was terrible. I understand it was free, but at least provide decent food. There was only one working elevator.

Huge rec center on lower level (basement). Room wasn't cleanest. Stain on comforter up by my neck. Sink was clogged from prior guests. Parking was extra and expensive. Used SpotHero to get lower rate and closer location. Grand Plaza was 1 block.

Front desk staff very helpful in giving transit directions to any place we planned on visiting, where to get some basic groceries, restaurants in the area within walking distance. Breakfast included area not having real cups for tea and coffee and all plastic cutlery.
Everything about the stay was great. The room was clean, the hotel's location is convenient and there's a train station a couple of blocks away. The complementary breakfast was a no for me. The scrambled eggs were just so awful. The fruit salad was okay but the quality of breakfast really needs some work.

The staff members were some of the best that I have had encounter. They were friendly and had the answers to all of our questions, informative without being annoying. The staff ensured that we were treated right and comfortably, from the valets, front desk receptionist, to the custodians. I enjoyed everything about the hotel.
I loved this hotel. My girlfriend and I stayed there when spending the weekend in Chicago. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was modern, and the floor to ceiling windows offered great views of the city. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well. We checked into the hotel and everything was going smoothly until the gentleman at the front desk nervously told me that our room would be on the 2nd floor and asked me if that was okay. I thought nothing of it at first. If that was the only room they had when we arrived then that's the room we would take. Then when we get to the room and we see by the front door that it is a handicap accessible room. When we enter the room we notice the view outside of our window is obstructed by the awning out front and the shower was not the modern style showed in all of the pictures on this site. It looked like a prison style shower. Not to mention I did not feel good about being in a handicap accessible room when neither of us needed to be. I would hate for the hotel to turn away a handicap person just because we were placed in that room first. We went back down to the front desk and requested a room change which we received with no problem. The lady at the front desk informed us that third party sites tend to move people to handicap rooms. I've found this to be true with other times I have booked rooms on a third party site in the past. She suggested calling the hotel and specifically asking for a non handicap room in the future. So just a heads up.
One thing I don't like about the aloft hotel that me and my family was told to leave the hotel because they smell smoke coming from our room which don't smoke and plus we had our one year old son with us. The lady told us we had to look leave we had half a hour to leave we had a reservation from Friday to Sunday we got put out Saturday evening .... We was falsely accused
The rooms were beautifully designed. Beatrix, the adjoining restaurant, was great for drinks and breakfast. There are many things to do, eat and see in walking distance. There were a lot of loud guests who were clearly out to party the Saturday that we stayed here. The rooms facing Clark street had a lot of car honking/traffic sounds until well after 2am. Bring ear plugs!
The staff was super helpful, check-in and check-out was easy, and it was one of the best night's sleep I've ever had! My boyfriend and I loved this place and we will definitely be returning.
Decor is modern and fun. Staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Very clean. Comfy bed. I signed up for their program. All hotels seem to be doing this. So I have ANOTHER card in my collection. The card gets you points and you don't have to pay for your bottled water in the room.
