The lobby is amazing.
In the middle of everywhere I needed to be! Near read line, near great restaurants and near the bean. Bed was a bit too uncomfortable and no water pressure in shower.
Location Beds were lopsided, couldn't sleep on it.
We arrived early and tried to check in.Were advised room not ready, but in a hour and we were being upgraded. Two hours later that room was gone, but we could wait for the upgraded room or take our confirmed room (smaller,etc) then.Decided to wait on 23rd floor where the upgraded room was located--very pleasant but took another 40 minutes. It was god to wait and worth it but,.........................., had two double beds. would have liked queen beds as we were three ladies, two of whom are larger.... Everything else was GREAT

Walk into the grand lobby and you feel like you're part of Chicago history. The rooms are a little small.
The check in was smooth and easy. Our attendant answered all of our questions and made great suggestions for food and activities. I will say, i had the BEST caramel macchiato at the Starbucks that is in this hotel. I told the barista then, and i'm saying it again now, it was hands down the best! The bed seemed really firm which is unusual for hotels, usually they are plush.
The room was very clean. The hotel had many amenities and provided a comfortable home away from home. I was approached by beggars both in front of the hotel (on the sidewalk) and in the hotel lobby. It would have been nice for security to be a bit tighter.
The main lobby and bar were beautiful and relaxing areas and the hotel is well maintained and clean. Rooms and bathroom were very small and the building is definitely an older building. That being said, the interiors were clean and well taken care of, and the common areas were very well kept and beautiful.
Decor, ambiance, comfy bed and linens, great shower, great mirror in the bathroom, we were pleasantly suprised to see that we were able to open the windows in the room, we like fresh air. The wall paper was peeling in the bathroom.

Beds are comfortable and the staff is very friendly. Onsite parking is cheaper than others in downtown Chicago. Wifi could be better. The rooms are older in style and decor, but that is to be expected in a 100+ year old hotel.
The rooms were kind of updated. But the location was superb, walking distance from everything. I believe they should spend more on updating the hotel. It carries such great Old Chicago character, but the painting over decades of old cracked paint, wall paper peeling off the walls and stale odor of the lobby like grandmas old furniture... doesn't do the history of ths hotel justice.
Nothing The room was dirty and so were my bath towels, also not to mention the hallway smelled really bad. Most importantly the staff were very rude when I informed them of my dirty room.
Room was clean. Maid service provided excellent work. Stayed at the hotel during a warm spell in April. Room was hot and uncomfortable. No individual thermostats. Cannot get a straight answer whether or not there was air conditioning. The website miss lead about barbering availability on the premises and had trouble with dry cleaning a suit.

A Very Walkable City with wonderful waterfront area and Great Food at Lou Malnati's and Gene & Georgetti. Museums, Aquarium, Planetarium, Soldier Field, Jazz Clubs and Great Restaurants...Everything is centrally located in and around Grant Park which is right across the street from the HILTON CHICAGO. The bed pillows were AWFUL! mushy and no support. A minor point, that would NOT prevent me from staying there again. My biggest CON was the cost of parking $56/day (self park) or $70/day (valet), for the cost of the room it should be included. Also in-room WiFi is an additional charge, should also be included.
Glasses which were used and kept aside for replacement were again kept in the same position for usage. they were not replaced just like any other utilities. overall very nice place

Staff, room, location. Only one kiosk to get coffee in the morning. You need to fix this. There is no reason it should take 20 min to get a coffee and pastry in the morning.
The location is good: close to subway, next to park, easy to get food to eat. I thought this is a 4-star hotel. When I saw the entrance of this hotel, it looks like 4-star. But when I got into the room, I thought I was in a 2-star Inn. The coffee maker is dirty, full of dust. The computer is not working and not able to off screen. The decoration of the room doesn't look like 4-star. Also, when the guest at next room used the bathroom, the loud "boom" sound would shock you. The WiFi is only free at lobby. The speed is really slow. When I refused to pay $30 for upgrade room with WiFi, the staff looked not happy. My teen girl was very disappointed for her trip to Chicago. She always wants to stay in hotel but this time she didn't want to stay longer.

My hotel was right acros from the park..a short walk from the museum and aquarium, as well as a ferry to the pier! The room was clean and large, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The lobby was beautiful! Hotel also has a large pool..was over all very impressed, would stay again on a return visit! That I had to leave!
If you are into architecture, this place will wow you. The intricacies of the interior decorations, the ornate massive stair case from the lobby to the second floor was something to behold. The rooms were a little tight but enough. Will definitely stay there again in my next trip to that city. Nothing.

Loved the Luxurious Amenities this hotel offers. Our room was comfortable, cold, and dark. All we needed was a fan to soothe me to sleep and upon calling the front desk, they delivered a fan to our room. Only negative I have is that our room had poor lighting. I'm a makeup artist so lighting is key for anyone to put on makeup, let alone a professional makeup artist like myself. Upgrade the lighting please!!
Clean, professional, great guest services! The restaurant next door had terrible service. The hotel however was great!
Rooms were clean $53 for valet and they brought down the wrong car 2 out of 3 times. Both times I waited for more than an hour when the entire purpose of the valet is to save time. Half of the staff was excellent and the other half was rued.
The location was great and checking in and out was very easy. Complementary water bottles were also great!

The Front staff made this place, really nice and very helpful. The location was great and made getting around Chicago a breeze. Next years Microsoft Ignite conference I will be booking at this Hotel again. Next time though I will remember to get a room with a fridge!

Great for a business trip where you don't spend a ton of time in the room. Not so great for a couple's getaway weekend. Room was rather small and room was in need of upgrades.
My wife and I have always stayed north of the river but chose this one to stay in a different part of the city but be close to everything. We loved the location to CTA stops because used that to get around the city. We loved the location's proximity to basically anything that we needed. The staff was very informative and friendly. My wife enjoyed the chilled water bottle stations on each floor. The elevator runs very quick compared to other Chicago hotels that we have stayed at. The room service and food deliveries run late into the night. We purchased our room online so maybe we were not given the best room. Our room was in a "hole" of sorts. There was absolutely zero views from the small window and barely any sunshine. The size of the flatscreen tv left much to be desired. Most hotels now at least have a 40" tv. There was no microwave in the room and not one that we could access down in the lobby area. The bed was not overly comfortable. Again, we loved most things about hotel because we chose it more as a crash location, not a place to stay all day.
Outstanding service and staff. The room was clean and they had a fitness room that wasn't busy. Also, they had these purified water stations on each floor. Very small room and the treadmills were pretty low quality.
It was a great place to stay - stayed here for business travel. They're professional all around. Don't get a car here; expensive for parking. You shouldn't have one in Chicago anyway.
We stayed at the Club Quarters because it's a block away from the Chicago passport office, and was reasonably priced. Checkin and staff were great, very helpful and attentive, very accommodating. The business center in the basement is very convenient, however, it didn't offer color printing and we were prepping for a visit to the passport office which required color printing. The staff have me a list of kinkos/fedex offices which offered color printing, however the list was outdated and I wasted an hour running all over the city following old information. I share this with the staff and hope they have updated the info. I would have gladly paid for color printing, and was wishing I spent the extra $$ to stay at a Hilton, which reliably has color printing.
Location and value
The room layouts are convenient, the cleanness of the hotel is up to par, and the hotel is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Chicago and there is a convenient social bar downstairs! Customer service representatives at the front desk were not helpful. I personally would not recommend this hotel before another hotel because of the service I received; but the hotel is very nice and in a great location.
The location is absolutely perfect if you're visiting Chicago from out of town. However, the rooms are small and basic so if you're not planning on staying in the room that much it's perfect.
TV service did not offer NBC and possibly ABC. Otherwise a great place and location. The other stay a couple of weeks ago - the phone did not work. Could't call to the front desk. Phone was dead and even after reporting this continued to be dead for the whole week.
Free wifi and free water. My "queen" bed was really two twin beds pushed together which lead to an uncomfortable nights sleep. The room was also the size of a closet but I was too exhausted from my flight to put up a stink.
Loved the free coffee and water on each level. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Walls were thin, and you could hear other guests making noises and playing music in their rooms.
Great accommodations for the price, friendly staff with awesome recommendations, clean and in a great location. Would definitely recommend! Only real negative was that the room was constantly too hot with no way to adjust heater or turn on air conditioning. Had to have the window open the whole time to keep temperature down and was still way too hot. Microwaves to reheat food would also be a great addition.
The staff was excellent. ALL staff members were superior in their performances from checking to cleaning staff everyone was helpful. The concierge service was extremely knowledgeable of the area and transportation and very helpful. The new construction taking place in the hotel.

Location is excellent for access to all Chicago has to offer. They are renovating and the construction noice was a bit tedious. My room was clean and adequate but there were visible signs of disrepair. Cracked drywall, buckled ceiling and signs of water damage on one wall.
My room had a beautiful view and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Decor is a bit dated and the pool was a too green for me to feel good about swimming in it.

Location location location! We were so pleased with how close we were to all the attractions we wanted to see. Walking distance to everything! The staff was more than amazing; kind and helpful. We hadn't intended on using the pool but if we had we would have been disappointed bc it was closed for 48 hours (the length of our stay).

It was a clean place to lay your head at night. The staff was nice and courteous. The TV and refrigerator were modern and worked well. The construction around the hotel is pretty scary. The heating system of the hotel is ancient and it was hard to get to a comfortable temperature without opening the window.

Nice pool. Parking was overpriced and when I asked the receptionist for assistance in locating cheaper parking, she told me that I would just have to walk around and find it. The security guard was very helpful in assisting me with that. Turns out a cheaper parking garage was actually next door. Got into my room to discover that they checked me in for the wrong room. I had ordered and had a confirmation receipt for a standard double, she had given me a single queen. When I tried to call down from the room phone, I could never get through to the front desk. When I called from my cell phone as a new customer, I was able to get through and it took some arguing and reluctance on the clerk's part and a long hold before they would honor the receipt I had for the room I paid for. I had ordered and paid for my room over a month in advance. No hotel restaurant or bar, which forces you to go next door to the Hilton and discover how much nicer their place is. I will not be staying here again.
The room we had was amazing. The view was amazing. The hotel itself was amazing. The lady who checked us in was very very rude, we booked 2 double beds a month I'm advance and she leads to tell me that we did not. We told her that we wanted 2 queen beds and she lies and says there aren't any rooms available with the bed arrangement we want. When I pull out the paper and show her the we had 2 queen beds, she goes to talk to another person and than a room that fits what we wanted magically appears. Other than this ridiculous incident all of the other staff was very very nice. Avoid checking in with the African-American girl with braces.
Staff promptly covered our mistake of a missing room with a walk-in and helped the family stay together during the vacations!
The hotel was fantastic as well as the staff.It was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Great recommendations for activities and food. We had the the tasting menu at Mercat restaurant and had some of the best food we ever tasted. We will definitely be staying here the next visit to Chicago!

The room was comfortable and updated. There was an employee who listened to me (Iesha) and displayed professionalism and good customer service when there was a HUGE error in the room reservation on the part of Kayak/Get a Room. Lobby was inviting, The hotel forced me to upgrade my room and pay more per night due to the reservation made through Kayak/Get a Room which did not secure 2 double beds for 4 people. They contract with Kayak but you still need to call the hotel directly to be sure you are receiving the room you requested. Does not make sense to contract if you still need to call them directly. They did not clean the room during the stay unless asked directly.
Rooms are pretty clean and comfort Staff was really bad, they treat you in a bad way, they didnt provide any help, they charge you for everything. I asked for a double bed room and they charged me extra 20$ even I requested the room weeks ago, Internet isnt free and is really expensive.
For Chicago Michigan Avenue, the price is good for quality, clean rooms. Yes the room is small but very functional. Large bathrooms and plenty of storage.

Spacious,luxurious, close to a lot of great sites such as the museums and shopping and site-seeing places. Great to have breakfast included in the price of the room! Not very helpful at first with the parking for the workers didn't know the streets well to give directions to the parking garage and were really trying to have valet parking as the only choice at twice the price at $44/day!
Great hotel, well updated. Nice bathrooms and beds. The restaurant downstairs was incredible. The best smoked salmon Benedict I've ever had! Will go back.
The hotel was beautiful and in a perfect location - within minutes of everything there is to do in Chicago. The number one reason I will go back to Hotel Blake is the concierge, Showtime. This man knows everything there is to do and will go out of his way 100% of the time to help you out. We had an amazing time and can't wait to go back. I can't think of a single thing.
The staff was friendly , I asked for an extra mattress for my child and they sent it immediately and at our arrival night it was rainy and the door man gave us umbrellas to use.The location of the hotel is good too. 1- The breakfast was poor and it was at the reception area (no room for breakfast), It shouldn't be called continental as they serve only donuts and croissant with canned juice and coffee. 2- the room has no fridge, 3- the coffee maker was in the bathroom.4- the internet was so slow. 4- parking costs $44 a night which is too much though all the 4-5 stars hotels I have been to around the world have their own free parking lots for hotel costumers.

Easy parking at lot next door. Easy unload in front of hotel. Great staff at hotel helped with transportation and restaurant choices. Hotel had large rooms and big bathrooms with large modern showers. Hotel allowed us to check our bags and leave them at hotel after checkout on Sunday so we could sightsee all day and get car out of parking! City noises all night but we were too tired from all our activities to be affected at night! No pool or hot tub but we knew that ahead of time. Overall best big city hotel experience we had!

Walk in shower was nice, bathroom very spacious. Bed was comfortable. Nice location to restaurants and the river. Staff very helpful, especially Dan. Dan was awesome and helped us book another night so we could be in the city longer. Good price too. A few shower tiles were dark, possible mold. It only had one door so water splashed everywhere. A palm-sized piece of the wall was missing and FYI if you don't want to hear street noise such as sirens and honking ask for a room away from the street, you won't get the best view but you'll be able to sleep without interruption.

The staff was great, everybody from the manager to housekeeping were so friendly, the hotel is older but they are updating and its coming along nicely, we've stayed in quite a few hotels and I can tell you these beds were amazing, so comfy. the hotel is within walking distance of EVERYTHING, Everything was so amazing we didnt want to leave Theres a restaurant on site which is great but no free breakfast that frequent Best Westerners are used to, no pool at this location but then again theres always Lake Michigan
The service was absolutely outstanding. The staff presented themselves excellently and were helpful and friendly. The door was opened for me every time I came in or out of the hotel, even late at night. From front desk to maintenence, the employees of this hotel treated guests fantastically. We are already planning a future visit.
I was visiting Chicago for a conference in Fields Museum. This location turned out to be a the best. I walked to the museum. The stay was comfortable.
The location and price cannot be beat! Check in was quick and staff were polite. We got just what we needed, a place to sleep close to downtown, nothing more, nothing less. The place is kind of dingy and run down looking. They never cleaned our room. Not very modern. No mini fridge in our room.

Staff was wonderful. Rooms were clean and plenty of mid priced restaurants within a block or two for casual drinking and dining. Grant Park is across the street and you can walk to Lake Michigan on large marked and paved pedestrian routes that go under all the roads and over the train tracks. Two major events in the area pushed the room price higher than normal and they are making improvements to modernize but not there yet. Hallway to our room had slight odor.

Staff was great, very knowledgeable and quick to give recommendations and directions. Breakfast had a lot variety and protein and fresh fruit options. Walls were thin, I heard a conversation in the next room at 11pm. Also WIFI access was too complicated to log in from a smartphone that I gave up since I had very limited time in Chicago.
We loved being right next door to see Hamilton. Would recommend to everyone. No parking problems. valet was awesome. All the staff were very polite and helpful. We went New Years Eve so it was busy. We did have to wait for our room but the staff helped us get luggage to room so we could make our reservation for dinner. Teenagers loved the breakfast.

The hotel was well located for our purposes--within walking distance of shopping and many attractions. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and staff efficient. Breakfast was the typical Hampton Inn fare which is good quality geared to a wide variety of tastes and preferences. The facility was an older building that had been retrofit. Our room was a little smaller than other Hampton's. This hotel is probably better suited to a couple than to a family with younger children. But it was efficient and did the job. Décor was funky and different which can work either way depending on perception. Overall, the space worked for us.

The room was comfortable and large enough to have a small sitting area. I liked the extra high ceilings because the room felt much larger than the floor space. The beds were comfortable and the furniture in good condition. There was a complementary coffee and tea bar in the lobby with fresh fruit and sometimes cookies. This was a nice stop over before heading back to the room. The breakfast closes on the dot at 10am. This isn't convenient because younger people (I'm 28 years old) like to sleep in a little later. I prefer to get going around 10 or 11am. This is a simple fix, extend the breakfast hours by an hour. I'd like to see more plants indoors at this hotel because the city starts to wear on me after a while and getting a fix of nature is relieving.
The staff was very friendly and the room was very clean and well appointed. The location is also very close to many of the attractions that we were seeking out. within walking distance of Millennium park and Navy Pier.

When I called to have the light bulbs replaced they said they would be right up. They never came. I switched light bulbs in the 4 lamps so I could get work done. The breakfast is not staffed and you have your choice of two cereals
In the business area so could walk to my office in S. Wacker Drive The tap filter needs adjusting (room 4013). Not really a bad point but you may wish to rectify.
Good location, very big room with a nice view. Staff seemed to be quite good. Some of the public parts of the hotel seemed rundown and some fixtures and furniture in the room could use updating. Some of the clientele seemed dodgy, as in a bit overly friendly and nosy. There was no wireless internet, as far as I could tell.
We enjoyed our stay, location is very convenient close to all major attractions. When I arrived person at reception desk told me that my reservation was cancelled though in fact it was not. Customer Service was very helpful to locate my reservation. I just do not understand why hotel staff could not see it.

Location, location, location, couldn't have been better. Lobby was beautiful, unlike the rather drab rooms. Cleanliness was impressive and the room maid was such a doll! The Hotel security were both friendly and helpful. It is nice to be recognized and have a cheerful face to see each morning and evening. The front desk clerk was...well there is no other way to put it, absent. In the four days I stayed there I never once found the man at his appointed front desk but was hidden somewhere in the back room. This man never offered anything of help, including baggage help etc. When I did speak with him it was terse and inadequate. Surely didn't make me feel welcome. He should get another job in which he does not deal with the public.
Clean room, hallway, and downstairs facilities. Friendly & well informed staff. Three medium sized elevators. Small cramped room with tiny bathroom. Even on the 10th floor the sound of blowers in the alley made for an incessant, loud hum all night long. Screaming crickets would have been more welcome. Then the steam radiator heat wasn't turned on until 10pm. My room was about 60°F when the pipe-knocking finally began. The restaurant downstairs was overwhelmed in the morning since only two people were working - though the food was pretty good. I waited 20 minutes to order at the counter and another 20 minutes at the table until my pancakes were finished. 15 minutes later I was finished. Parking is not included and my plans kept me in downtown until 3:30. So I put my things back into my car at the garage across the street after breakfast. When I collected my car it had been parked there for 23.5 hours, yet I paid $15 dollars extra for a second night as I was ready to leave after 2pm. Still cheaper than another night in a hotel plus I was home in about 4 hours anyway.
The only friendly people working at this hotel are the two porters that worked in the lobby. They were friendly and helpful. Especially the man working the night shift. I found every person I talked to at the front desk to be short and rude. I asked about where to park for the best price and he acted like no one ever asked that question before and was rude about his answer. Never mentioned validation to reduce the fee - found that out on my own. Scowled at the mere mention of early check-in and never offered to take luggage. This man needs a new job where he doesn't talk to people. Came back later to talk to a younger guy, thought he would be friendly - but no smile, no helpful tips. Blah. Then the rooms were unbelievably old and run down. Warning: NO BLOW DRYERS in room.
The room was a good size-a bit plain, but comfortable. The entry/exit to Grant Park for the Chicago Marathon was directly across the street. You couldn't put this building in a better place. Great location.

It's was close to everything so I could explore during my layover and get some .rest. It was good for the price. But I would stay there again. It is next to a loud people mover. Also when they redid the hotel they took to many short cuts peeling paint exposed pipes no breakfast
This is a comparatively affordable hotel and a good value for short, busy-schedule business trips. If you don't need the extra amenities and if you want a convenient, clean, no-fuss "place to stay" it's a good find. It is also close to the downtown Universities, making it easier for the moving in (or out) of your college student(s). Although there are many food choices within a few blocks, it would be nice if there was a breakfast choice, that was open early, in the building.
Parking garage right across the street. Beds were small uncomfortable cheep pillows and sheets. Staff at front desk was rude and not welcoming. Very loud Banging noise on the pipes around midnight. View from Windows was an abandoned building. Only gave us one coffee cup and no water cups.
Location Everything but location
The people were wonderful. We were able to check in early, and they let us check our bags after checkout so we could explore the city for a little longer before we had to leave to go home. The people and proximity to Michigan Avenue, Millennium Park, etc. were what made our trip. The window air conditioning unit kept the room very comfortable, and there was a safe in the closet, which was nice to have. It was what you would expect from a Travelodge: old, fairly clean, somewhat comfortable mattresses, nothing extra. I am very glad I brought my own hair dryer because they did not have one in the room.
