location is good , maybe the romantic garden view is good. thats all our soap was finished we call reservation desk for that and thet said that come here and bring your soap, we paid 553 pound for 7 nights to this hotel but service is very bad breakfast time is the same bad service, breads came very late , eggs were finished...bla bla
The bathroom looked like it had just been redone. I was traveling with my boyfriend, suster, and father. This was a trip for her birthday and we wanted to make the best of it. We werent expecting much from the pictures, but the hotel felt like it was falling apart. I know those buildings are a couple hundred years old, but it seems like very little upkeep had been put into this one. It says it's a 3 star hotel, more like 1 star and maybe motel better describes this place. The rooms were extremely tiny, it had more of a hostel feel rather than hotel. There were bunk beds and one full for 4 people. The furniture looked like it was from the 18th century and was very skeptical about whether it would last the night. The blankets were disgusting, they looked like they had never washed them ever and that they were at least 20 years old. The television looked more like a 1980s computer monitor and it did not function. I get that most homes don't have AC, but this is a hotel, that's kind of necessary. Our form of AC was an open window. Luckily we were there during cooler times, but for us Florida answer, it was a little too cool at night. We tried to close the window, but the thing almost fell off completely. Forget about making a complaint though, the staff were rude. They never looked up to greet you and when you walked up to the desk, they still wouldn't look up until you said hello first. What kind of hospitality is that? They made you feel like you were a pestering nuisance. I'm sorry I'm asking you to do your job??? We chose this place so that we could all room together, but I much would've rathered stayed in a more expensive place and have 2 rooms had I known this was a disaster of a "hotel".
The central location. We found it noisy at night. Our upstairs neighbors clamboured around until very late and kept us awake.
Location was convenient. Staying as a young, not visibly wealthy couple, we felt utterly unwelcome in the hotel, even though we had paid fully for the service. Both reception staff did not seem to know what they were doing, and kept us waiting for a long time to check in because they didn't know how their payment authorisation system worked. The room was small but acceptable, but the bathroom was practically a cupboard , with 2 measly bars of soap and one wet towel, and nothing else.
Nothing hill area - very safe place in London, we didn´t see anything strange on the road, we felt safe outside and inside, enough possibilites to eat outside, even some shops are open at late evenings to get some food or newspaper, underground station Nothing Hill gate very close. Hotel just normal, enough for short stay in London, we come again. Good price. We had to go to Stansted airport very early - 3 a.m. Hotel organized the taxi for us for the price 75 pounds which was good, driver came on time, we got safely and quickly to the airport. Smell from smoking in our room, we asked for non smoking room. We opened the window, sprayed the room but it didn´t help. It looks that people were smoking in this room before for longer time. Otherwise OK. Bit cold in the room.
central, well maintained in general Although it was good value for money, the room was really small and the flush was not working properly. Also there was no tray containing kettle, cups, etc... that you usually find in other hotels.
The location, the bed was comfortable, the room was not as is usual for London stuffy and over-heated, a decent set olf lifts for a 4-storey hotel, the price remains good for accommodation with breakfast. The room was too small and the bathroom (if possible) even smaller, and the corner washbasin the smallest I have ever seen. It was not possible to get any part of one's anatomy over it - hence a rather wet floor. Television reception was awful - it must have been the only TV in London with just 3 channels. Breakfast is okay but something of a competitive sport - to try to catch the toast before it disappears.
Nice reception area No tea and coffee in the room, one pillow, no plug in wash basin, show was blocked, room was not en suite, poor breakfast, plastic culterly, some plastic cups in dining room, toast was very slow coming from kitchen, left luggage was in view of all guests in the reception area.
Hotel very shabby & run down ,filthy carpets in room ,poor selection of food at breakfast & rude unhelpful person on reception.
friendly, helpful staff
Reasonable location Overpriced to stay in a dungeon
Location. Staff was rude, not helpful, unfriendly. Breakfast included was horrible. 1 very small cup of juice, 1 very small bread roll, and coffe if available per person. Most mornings coffe was not available. Many of the quest there during our stay were complaining about the same. One couple from Greece had their belongings stolen from their room.
Location. Needed one night passing through London and this was a great budget option. No wifi in rooms (although BT Wifi was available in mine) and no passwords available for wifi in reception because of a large group. Décor was extremely tired and worn, shower full of rust, cracks in walls and scratches in wood panels. Hole in bedside unit and toilet seat damaged. Advertised parking is on-street and restricted during the day.
Friendly helpfull staff Room could be updated and tea and coffee facilities in the room improved
I liked the atmosphere and the attitude of the hotel staff.
We got a room We had a conformation and when we arrived there was not a room. This was the booking sites fault however we were still there without a room at 2 am. Luck have it someone checked out early and the staff cleaned the room so we got to sleep for 5 hours before we had to be on the plane.
- the staff is very helpful and value friendly given a welcoming atmosphere;
Very close to tube station. Clean rooms. Nothing special, but you get what you pay for. Good value for money. Orange juice for breakfast consist of 10% juice & 90% water :(
The location and the price. We would like a better standard breakfast. We noticed and were delighted for three new components this time; milk and breakfast cereal (wholemeal and ordinary). Now we only were missing sliced smoked ham (cold) and cheese at the breakfast-table.
The laction was very central easy to get to all the major hotspots in London and close to a couple of underground stations. Bathroom could have been better, they need to upgrade their TV and a fridge in the room will be nice
location small rooms, poor breakfast, not proper running fittings
location I really didn't appreciate to have a room on underground level, I didn't even know that there are such rooms, as this option is not mentioned on the web site when you book. I didn't like the attitude of the staff when asked to change the room, I had to argue about this change. Finally, after one night, I get another room on 2nd floor. It is also very noisy. The breakfast is very poor.
Vicino ai negozi The staff were difficult. I paid by credit card. They wanted my husband's signature. Meanwhile, while awaiting the faxed signuture, I paid by cash for the first night. But my phone was cut off nevertheless. On checking out, I asked them to call a taxi but got another car service which cost double. I would not return.
noisey cleaning staff at very early hours in the morning the hotel in genral was very noisey and run down our room was like a 2nd class holiday holiday park accomodation out of date tired and grubbie, will not stay again
Location was excellent simply outside Bayswater Tube Station..... The fact that we were placed in the basement of the hotel, very claustrophobic , bars on the window made you feel slightly imprisoned, the hallways were too small for two people to pass at the same time.
great location friendly staff room is too small lift is too small used my credit card twice
clean / nice staff more choice for breakfast for buffet
Location Size of the room there is no place even to put your suitcase
Very clean rooms. Close to Hyde park. Rooms were small, placed a little below the ground.
Location This hotel the rooms are far too small.
The room was a bit small. Also, I much prefer the type of shower that can be detached for allover body spraying rather than fixed to the wall inflexibly.
Great location; close to the tube, convenience stores, restaurants. Hotel was dirty, the bathroom was so small you couldn't even close the door and the staff was rude.
Perfect location. Very small rooms thin walls
This is the second time we stayed here, so that must say something. The hotel is close to almost everything and is perfect as it has fridge, iron, hairdryer etc. Liked it a lot. The rooms differ, last time we had a bigger and better room for the same price. A softer bed would have been nice.
Room was clean & modern Only 2 TV channels worked without interferance. The bed matress was rock hard.
Staff were pretty good, but seemed a bit 'green' and couldn't always answer our questions.
The room was modern and clean. The service was excellent, more than willing to assist with different matters. The solution with kitchenette is very practical. The room was too small almost no place to store the bags.
the location and the cleanliness of the hotel. the bed was to firm for our comfort.
Location small bathroom, early breakfast
location / wifi no freeview tv despite advertising the fact that they had it
Noisy - could hear the traffic and other street noises.
nothing it's more a youth hostel then a hotel. The tab only gives cold water, the towel is the size of an 'kleenex', the shower is too hot to use? Rooms are very noisy on street side. Small rooms. Dirty
Great Location near to metro stations Bayswater and Queenway, perfect for sightseeing. The street is full of restaurants and shops. Very expensive for value! Just for sleep! The hotel was razonnable clean except the curtains that need to be washed as fast as possible. The walls room were in bad conditions because guest don´t take care and the room was so small that the luggage went against the walls all the time.At the first night I have to wait more then 10min to have hot water and I had to call the girl of the reception to turn on the shower and the heater. The worst thing was after the check-out that I have to pay 1 pound for each bag in the luggage room!!!!Unbelivable!!!
locality for tube to central london very noisy from street untill 2am as above eateries/bar also the actual rooms flooring was cheap chipped laminate wood and so awake at 6am when above us awoke, definately wont stay there again.
Location near Tube
There was no best things, the reception staff was angry and not friendly.
The area it was in. Dirty rooms, staff could speak basic english, English breakfast was toast and ceareal, the water suply was off for nearly 48 hours.
the room had wooden floor and was bright, the service was friendly and fine in terms of ekstra towels ect. great location to the tubes boring breakfast with cold toast and the room could use a decent cleaning and a new madras
Super location, awesome value
The location is great and it's a warm friendly hotel. The room was extremely small. While that's common in London, this one was particularly so. On top of that they put huge furniture in there which blocked all light and made it harder to move around. They should take out some of the furniture to give you room to move around without climbing over your bags.
Nice room with high ceilings, good heat, and good bed. Bathroom upgraded and warm and good location to tube.
the Bed was comfortable and I like the fact that I had a Flat screen T.V available as well. The room was a bit too small.
The hotel has a very pleasant homely feel - the receptionists were really nice. Although my room did not have a kettle, they have a lovely little room looking out on the garden, with books and every sort of hot drink you could wish for. Everything was beautifully clean, which is the starting point for feeling welcomed and comfortable. All in all, I think it is an excellent place to stay. Many thanks to the staff!
Helpfull staff. The one single room on the third floor was vey small.Couldn't take a seat behind the desk because it was to narrow. The breakfast was limited in choose, however there was enough toast!
The management style of the hotel is amazing , because you are made to feel like one of the family as it is maore of a home boutique hotel than a hotel, and I have been staying there for years . The owners and manager are very professional and so is the staff reception, breakfats team, internet access, and woou the tea room is lovely so English , with its little court garden etc...not to mention that it is the best value for Money anywaher in london and very well located central with easy access to anywhere . I love the garden court hotel No thing at all
Good location, quiet, nice breakfast, fast checkin/ checkout, had internet terminal, good value. Room shower didnt work, so I used the hall one. I booked an non-ensuite room, so it didnt matter.
Comfortable bed, great TV, quiet hotel close to the tube. A lot of restaurants and stores nearby. They had a shower in the room, but not the toilet, this is if you choose shared bathroom and to me that means shared shower, not toilet. But it didn't matter so much, the shared toilet wasn't used by many.
Good location -- very close to Queensway and Bayswater Tube stations, walking distance of Hyde Park, bus lines. Many restaurants available just a short walk away, plus several pubs. Also, some decent shopping from a recently opened shopping center. Hotel was quiet, nicely appointed and comfortable. Offered DIY hot beverage service during off-breakfast hours. Good value for the money in an expensive city. Minor things: Sash-type window in our room was very loose in frame -- rattled with the wind. Wedging some folded paper in the frame kept the window quiet. Breakfast area roomy enough (holds 34 people, I counted chairs), but food was mediocre. Skinny white or brown (wouldn't really call it whole wheat) toast. However, more was readily supplied upon request. Tea, coffee, juice, apples, bananas, yogurts and cereal. Adding rolls or muffins would have been nice. More substantial fare, like bacon and eggs, cost extra, and once we smelled the bacon burning, this wasn't an appetizing option.
Hotel is very clean, staff are nice and friendly. great location.
No wi-fi (which you have to pay extra for) in my very small room. Tiny tv.
Reception staff was very polite and willing to help & location tiny rooms
great location, good quality/cost ratio needs renovation
I had a very small basement room. It had a very dirty carpet on its one square meter floor . The bath room had no heating and was very cold. There was a lot of noise in the night when people returned from town, as the reception was right over and had an echoing floor.
The location. My room - 3a - under the stairs - very noisy! Couldn't sleep!!! And if the hotel had given me a refund the next day - I wouldn't be suing them
I liked the neighbourhood. Whenever I visit London, I stay at bayswater, because it is close to hyde park and I enjoy the walk. The hotel is small but clean and the staff is very nice. The breakfast is quite good value for money.
The location was only 5 minutes walk from Bayswater subway station. The rooms were small, the bed was terrible, the toilet was broken(didnt flush) and you could hear everything going on in the neighboring rooms and the corridor as if it was in the room!
I did not have to ask for anything - the first time this has happened in a long time No
Good location close to two tube stations and some good restaurants. Room was clean and the hotel had a lift in spite of its small size. Room was very small - to get from one side of the room to the other, it was necesary to climb across the bed. We were cold at night (although probably could/should have requested another blanket).
Vicki was very nice at Check in. Convenient to Tube stops and Hyde Park. Cleaned each day. Breakfast was good. As all rooms in the U.K., the room was a bit cramped. Shower was excellent, but in a small bathroom. No lift, but we enjoy the European staircases.
It is not specified during the booking that if you pay by card (debit or credit), there is an extra 4% charge. My room didn't have a window and was incredibly hot.
Great location! Good value considering the prices in London. Helpful and Courteous Staff! Everything worked as expected and as required. Tiny breakfast room - sometimes couldn't get a seat and knocking elbows with other patrons. Tiny room but adequate and everything worked.
Convenient for Central London. Good bus and tube links. Very poor maintainance in rooms, ie: plugs in basin missing, door handles loose, broken sanitary wear. Despite having room changed still faults in second room. Breakfast choice very limited and breakfast room like a waiting room.
Well I don't know where should I start... For everyone who complained: Yes - this hotel maybe is not the best in the town but you always have Ritz or Sofitel charging at least £600 per night. Yes rooms have signs of wear and tear but you have to understand that changing interior for such a small hotel is much more problematic and pricey than for big chains such Accor or Premiere Inn. It's old, huge (and beautiful) Victorian house converted into hotel.Rooms are big, beds comfy, bathroom maybe small but you would be able to have shower - unless you'd like to have sex on the floor - for this purpose I agree: it's a bit too small. Location is more than convenient walking distance (15 min.) to Paddington Station and 3 stations to Oxford street. look above. I hardly found anything bad. Yes - they might invest in new carpets but at the and of the day I usually sleep on bed not on the carpet - If you prefer carpet then your choice.:)
Good location, friendly staff. Up three flights of stairs with small kids and luggage, and I don't recall reading on the website that there was no lift. Breakfast was a bit thin. We asked hotel to recommend a car for hire to get to Gatwick Airport South Terminal, which the hotel staff booked for us; we were quoted one price but on the day of the driver told us that it was an extra 5 pounds because we were going to Gatwick South. I'm not sure if that was legitimate or if the hotel needs to be more careful about recommending a car service. Also, I was unprepared to pay in advance (typically in Canada you pay at check-out, leaving a credit card on file), so I arrived without enough cash to pay the bill and had to put it on my credit card, resulting in the extra charge to use a credit card.
Staff was friendly. Small room (n°5) in the basement. Unreliable internet connection. Noisy in the basement.
This was probably one of the best hotels, that I ever have lived in. Friendly staff, good service und spacy rooms - one can't wish for much more. The "Continental" breakfast could include some "Continental" cheese and/or sausages as well - not everybody likes jam, or a big "English" breakfast.
The rooms were dirty, small and uncomfortable. Breakfast was a joke - just tea, juice boiled eggs, cereal and toast. Our room had a broken shower door which was hanging off its hinges and dangerous, but when told the staff said we would have to put up with it as there were no other rooms available and if we wanted a shower we would have to use another room. We asked them to contact the manager as we didnt want to pay for this, but they refused. Apparently the manager only starts work at about 11am and does a couple of hours and then goes so good luck if you encounter any problems.
It was a bed after a trans-atlantic flight. The shower was 10/10. We arrived before check in after all night flight from USA hoping to sit off till room was ready but told to come back. Came back and carried cases upto 2nd floor to find 2 single beds instead of a double. Given a room in basement. Tiny. Nowhere to hang clothes. Climbing over cases to get to bathroom where there was nowhere to hang a towel or put toothpaste, razors, foam etc. As for the breakfast, well read the other reviews on here, terrible. dining hall slightly bigger than our room.
The location was excellent. The room, bathroom, breakfast room, lift and reception were all above average for the price. Continental breakfast was excellent. Very little although the staff could have shown a little more enthusiasm.
The room was very well appointed and the receptionist proved an excellent ambassador when a glitch arose over the central booking system. Room temperature levels seemed high but this may have been due to unseasonably mild weather.
I liked the hotel's location and the continental breakfast which was basic but adequate in a pleasant restaurant.
Good location. Staff were helpful. I had booked a single room but the shaver point wasn't working so they upraded me to a double. Overall the hotel was clean, comfortable and good value for money.
Room was clean and bed comfortable. Location good Shower didn't work - freezing morning experience. Lights flickered. Breakfast not the best
Frendly and helpfull staff Airco broken, fridge broken, evening an night noice of nextdoors home. Croissants an bread (breakfast) of low quality
Proximity to tube and reasonable price Noise from other rooms, no lounge or bar space
Clean, fresh, brightly decorated, comfortable, friendly and efficient staff. The room was very small and quite noisy (next to airconditioning plant).
The location. Awefull - Just prior to arrival (being 2.5 hours after the soonest available time for book in to our room), we were just yards away from teh hotel when the manager (Manoj) called from his mobile and very bluntly said "Mr Robindon? Due to maintenance your room is unavailable and you'll need to find another hotel to book into". Obviously this was out of order, not just for being so late in the day but the managers attitude. We decided to continue to the hotel to confront the manager face to face. After around 30 minutes of arguing that he was out of order and teh service was not acceptable we were provided a key and direction to our booked double room - which was a twin. 2 more hours later we had the room we booked though in poor condition
The room was ok, and so was the breakfast (not much choice, but pleasant). The worst thing was that noise due to the underground lines passing underneath. The machine to make tea wasn´t working.
nothing breakfast, room very run down although clean if anything, staff sleep behind counter and can't assist with queastions asked.
The locations is great. Good transport links. No curfew. Room was a good size and clean. Breakfast available until 9:30am Sound of underground train throughout the entire building - not good if you are a light sleeper. No complimentary toiletries in the bathroom so had to go and purchase our own. Insufficient space to cater for more than a few people during breakfast. Extremely noisy plumbing coming through from the neighbouring room - a problem when your neighbours are up at 5:30am.
the hotel staff were very helpful and accomodating. The location is great
cleaness underground railway noise
Good location, friendly staff Bed uncomfortable, room too warm, toilet seat broken
The room was spacious and clean and great value for money
London and BBC!!! Maybe a window which didn't shut down.
Good location, rather cheap, every day cleaning No soap and shampoo
