Very affordable price (except parking ). The hotel is within walking distance of all kinds of great places: restaurants, bars, Union Square, Japan Town, etc. The bed are big and comfy! The ice machine was kind of hidden on the third floor. Kind of weird. Also, no fridge or microwave in the room.
The hotel has a funny smell. I didn't like it.
Front desk person was very helpfull. Carpet with stains and smelly.
Bird poop on my car even though it's covered parking. Noise from garbage container cleaning at 10 pm and 7 am right below my room. Getting from parking to lobby is just sketchy.
The Opal is an older building with beautiful architecture and charm. To get into the lobby you have to be a guest, using your room key to unlock the front doors. I was so much more relaxed within the hotel with this added security. It is in an excellent location to good food and sight seeing and if driving, is easy to get to from 101 and they also have a private, gated parking garage! We will definitely stay at the Opal San Francisco in the future! Would recommend curved shower rods to give a little extra room. Because of being an older building the electrical outlets are minimal and had to do some rotation of electrical devices.
The only thing I did not like is that the hotel os smoke free. The need to offer a place for guests to smoke outside
The bed was exceedingly cozy, and the room was spacious. I don't know if all rooms are that spacious, or just the handicapped-accessible ones. The free breakfast was decent. There was a strange smell I couldn't really identify, which first reminded me of a grandparent's home. When I returned to my family, I was told I smelled like a bandaid, and that was similar to the room's smell. Not unpleasant, just disconcerting.
no air conditioning
The staff was very friendly. The rooms were nice and clean. The continental breakfast was very good. And in a good location if you want to see the city.
This place was rated 3 stars. We went into it knowing that. It met our expectations. Great location, clean, good price. Staff were excellent. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. Nothing. Was exactly what we expected.
Nothing Everything. Especially the manager.
Location Bed was not very comfortable, rooms were small, AC was bad and could not be adjusted after a point, bathroom light kept flickering, expensive parking, included breakfast was of a poor quality, no bathtub in the bathroom.
I was nice that had breakfast every morning. Also had fruit and water and coffee and tea every day and evening. Wine in the afternoon was nice also with cheese and peanuts. The music selection. I felt like I was in Church
The neighborhood is beautiful.
Complimentary breakfast. The decor too. Rather a long way from city centre and would be a difficult walk (very steep) for those less able.
informative info from staff-good breakfast-location excellent no complaints
Great location, wonderful staff!! Had to move as could hear the upstairs guests and children running about at too early a time.
The breakfast and the lobby were good The room and bathroom were not upto the mark for the price.
Staff was very friendly and accommodating, very quiet rooms and I felt very comfortable using the facilities. The beds were very comfortable and we had ample space. Great stay overall.
Easy walk from the Bart after coming in from SFO. No uphil climb with cases like we had when we stayed in union square. The larger room allowed us to have all 3 kids in the room so no second room. The walk to union square took less than 5 minutes and easy walk to transport to get all over the city. Would definitely stay here again. Breakfast was really expensive. Kids would never have eaten $21 worth of food. There is a Starbucks in the lobby though and lots of breakfast places enroute to union square. The crepe food truck on the corner was delicious. Only other complaint would be that the shower pressure was low when other rooms were using. Why no pressure regulators Marriott?
Good Location. Overall everything was alright. Nothing too wonderful, but nothing too critical. The lobby was fancy, but rooms werent wonderful. Not the friendliest staff. I found it strange that when I called for a bandaid, the front desk tried to sell one to me. I have been to other hotels, including Courtyard's, where they will just deliver something small like a bandaid to you if you need it. I even recall needing feminine products and they were sent to me. Considering the price of the hotel, and the parking ($59/night!), you would think a simple request like that would have been fulfilled.
Great location, near water front, business district and tourism venues. Location was accessible via public transportation: Bart, CalTrain King At station approx mile or less away. In house Starbucks Coffee and restaurant. Utilized fitness facility, clean and mix of Dumbbells and aerobic equipment. Encountered negative experience with guests on our floor using Marijuana, hallway and elevator on or floor. It reaked of the odor during the Second day or our stay. A bit of loud partying on our floor as well. We notified the desk a few times (they offered to give us another room), but apparently they weren't able to locate the source. Disappointed that errant "Spring Breaker kids" ruined an otherwise pleasant experience. FYI we were traveling for leisure, and had our 8 he old son with us. Not the environment you'd want a child exposed to.
Very friendly and attentive staff at all levels. They went above and beyond for some of our requests. Food at the onsite restaurant was delicious though a bit pricey. Location was a bit dirty with a lot of construction and older run down buildings around. Lots of noise from the major road behind hotel came through the closed windows as if they were open. Parking was over the top! $60/day!!
We were a group of five girls and this hotel stay was great! Room is spacious, beds comfy. No complains. Pool is small
It was a perfect location to see the Embarcadero and the ballgame...a good center for traveling around town. It was even a short walk to China Town, No breakfast menu...just buffet in the AM...too much food, too high of a price.
The staff was very accommodating for my elderly parent's needs.
The staff, location and facilities. Nothing
Location, & staff. Carpet in my room smelled.
Beds are comfortable and is in a good location. Under renovation, the AC wasn't working so we had to sleep with the door open, which is loud outside
The staff were the most friendly and helpful of most of the hotels I've expetienced. We stayed there due to a close relative being in Cal Pacific Medical Center unexpectedaly from out of the area. They were so accommodating and extended our stay when complications arised. The restaurant was great and we loved Bill the bartender. We never felt like we were not welcome. The shuttle to the hospital was invaluable and saved us money in extra parking fees. I would not hesitate to stay here again under similar circumstances. We also enjoyed the restaurants in Japan town. They were wonderful. The only thing we didn't like was the road noise in the room. Our home is in an area that u Is extremely quiet so we are not used to city noises. Mew have traveled extensively and stayed in noisy cities where hotels are much quieter. I must say we are more sensitive to noise so take that into account. We would stay there again if we needed too.
The Japanese decor is calming. Nice neighborhood, walking distance to nice restaurants. Room is oddly designed. TV not easily viewed from bed. And the bathroom is not typical -- I think it has a Japanese influence so perhaps it is a comforting design for those familiar with Japan, but for others it seems strange. A deep thin tub with shower, no shower curtain, then the sink in a middle area that has wall to wall carpeting, and then the toilet in another room that you have to step up and over to enter.
Atmosphere, Location. A/C is perfectly setup. Great Shower/Bathroom combo Room next to the ice machine and elevators was rather loud. Pillows felt used and hard. Bed was not comfortable.
bar and restaurant were closed rooms were nice
- Very pleasant check-in experience - Attractive lobby - Attractive rooms - Nice area of town - Decent rates - Exercise room is about what you'd expect from a hotel - Free WiFi is slow, urges you to "upgrade" for a fee
We liked the friendly staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable. I would definitely come back and stay with my family .
- Quiet location - Deep tub - Free wi-fi
The building is beautiful and welcoming, the staff is amazingly friendly, other guests were pleasant, breakfast was nice, bed was comfortable, I felt safe, windows open, fan in room, wonderful place!!! The fan in the bathroom didn't work, but they supplied me with a plug in fan to accommodate, not really that big of a deal.
The hotel's location close to Union Square and a lot of events and fun * Old Hotel * Voices of noise and nuisance from outside the hotel * the bathroom it is small
They were very helpful getting the room we wanted and helping us out finding things to do in a city we did not know. The rooms were very classy as well. Just the location. It was at the heart of everything, but some might be looking for that kind of trip. I can't really say its a negative but it was too crowded in the city where we were. Again some might like being in the center.
Location was perfect House keeping was good Mattress was uncomfortable , seemed to cause backache . Space was congested
Excellent for our family Usa trip good position and rooms well appointed. Recommended
We always enjoy our stay at The Handlery. It's a good location and the staff is always friendly.
great little hotel with unique rooms. friendly staff Could not control room temperature. Room got way too hot and would not cool down enough to sleep.
Great location central to department stores, good transport links. Room size was very small
Great hotel. Small enough to be pleasant and cozy yet big enough to offer amenities. Nice location at Union sq. Weird/expensive parking ($70 a night for my truck) and no valet but very nice hotel. I'll definitely stay here again.
the location the room was very small and it sounded like people were moving furniture above me all the time.
I loved it all! Everyone was friendly and the room was great. Awesome parking lowest priced compared to others and a great location. I'm will definitely be back!
Perfect location and very cute rooms in historic building! Safe environment, lots of great restaurants around. The beds were not comfortable.
Nothing The worst hotel experience I've ever had. Even though I did book at the last moment, there was nothing about the hotel to justify a rate of 200 a night. A creepy, worn hotel. A long, darkened hallway leading to a room next to a darkened stairwell, whose door I could barely fit through. The room was small and adequate. Worn carpet, fixtures Small, awkwardly laid out bathroom. Other than the location I can't think of anything to recommend this hotel.
The location was great. Yeah - theres homeless people outside BUT theres homeless people all over SF. My second room was good. I was originally put into a room on the second floor (avoid at all costs) and the windows were open when I got there (sign 1) - got them closed. Then my hot water didnt work and maintenance had to work on it for 30 min (sign 2). Finally when I slept it got so incredibly hot in my room that I was sweating. Not even the fan was keeping it cool. I should have changed rooms that night but it was 10 pm and I just worked a 12 hour day. The next morning I explained to the front desk all of the above and they immediately put me in a nicer room.
I got early to the pickwick hotel I liked that they were able to get me a room by 1 pm
Cleanliness, location, price and everything Charging Extra 50 USD , for Incidental charges no doubt same wlll be refunded but they should have that much faith in customer
Location excellent! The mattress with its loud rubber squeaking was completely INSANE!!!? It was something from a comedy show or hidden camera. I have never imagined something so aweful. Worse yet, when we told the front desk, we were told a Manager would call us. Nope. We called amd emailed. No return call. There is no excuse to have such HORRIBLE customer service as to not even return a phone call.
The AC seems not working, the vents blow hot air only. Opened all the windows to get some cool air but that was too loud as the room opens on to the busy road with lots of traffic. Wi-Fi is OK, but could not connect to VPN. It was a short stay checked in at midnight. I was travelling from East Coast, so that is 3 AM. Did not bother to complain to staff and checked out 8 AM local time.
The parking is a bit expensive- I realize it's San Fran but $46/night seems excessive
The place had character good location staff was good Rooms weren't cleaned enough, broken outlet in bathroom and rooms were kind of tight
It was 3 blocks to the Moscone Center. The employees were very friendly and helpful. Historic/ small rooms. Price was outrageous for the room - $349 a night (but we were there during the Pride Parade and Library Conference). We had to sleep with the windows open, weak AC - air temp not the problem, but street noise. Water pressure in shower came and gone. Both of us seating at the end of the bed flipped the mattress.. Surprise!
Great value! Great location for Moscone Convention Center. Cozy room (small), but very clean and quaint. Good for one person who's not planning to spend time in the room other than to sleep. T.V. was great with fast channel surfing, solid cable connection. Although old building, everything was very clean. Clean bathroom, great water pressure. I don't think there was room service - no menu or hotel binder in the room. Not a lot of space to put toiletries in the bathroom, but that wasn't a big deal. Wifi didn't work in the room - totally weak connection.
Unique room small but lots of windows that opened to Mission st and large wallirrir behind bed wall! !mission and 5 th st parking garage just across street , short walk to Moscone Center with Starbucks on way Close parking and walking distance to Moscone Center
The price you pay for a hotel in that location was great. It was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The shampoo and lotion provided was good enough that I didn't need to use my own (it was Bath & Body Works brand). And the towels were nice and fluffy - not thin and scratchy. It was pretty worn around the edges. Facilities were old and walls were badly in need of a paint job. The room was small and the bed creaked. The WIFI was slow and unreliable. The walls were pretty thin and you could hear other guests and street noises clearly.
Friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Clean. Helpful concierge. Central location near transport and theaters. Lovely Art Deco Architecture. Extensive vending machine. No Air Conditioning. No hotel movies. No room service.
Clean, convenient, helpful staff 4:00pm check-in, noisy
Some place is clean. Some place is poor.
Friendly staff, clean room. There wasn't shampoo in the shower, just body wash and conditioner which was odd.
Hotel was walking distance from a lot of locations we wanted to visit. Hotel was clean and bathroom was better than pictures shown. We had a problem with our booking. Hotel staff/manager did not seem like they wanted to fix issue that they created. We requested a specific room(golden gate view) weeks in advance and they denied our request stating they were out of rooms. After I called multiple times to confirm reservation. Later that night I go to the lobby and Over heard a convo between staff and another guest, saying they were going to upgrade him to another room (golden gate view). really?!?! That's not good customer service at all!
Very clean & staff very friendly. Helped with navigating the city. Bus stop out the door was very convenient. Large basic room with desk. Nice looking pool & deck but rained so didn't get to use pool. Breakfast included with cereal, waffles, yogurt & pastries. Large room so would have liked a small couch or reading chair for more comfortable seating. Not the fastest elevator but only 5 floors so no big deal.
Big room, lots of space Because of the architecture of the building, in order to get to my 5th floor room, I had to go to the 4th floor, walk around the building, and take a different elevator to the 5th floor.
I am very upset with this hotel. We booked this hotel for our mini honeymoon in San Francisco. We booked and were guaranteed a king bed. Upon arrival we were told that we had Queens. I showed them my reservation that clearly stated that we booked a king. The front desk clerks were very rude. They didn't seem to care that our reservation said king. They said they gave our room away. Thanks for ruining our honeymoon. After a while they offered us free parking which was nice... but it was after I threatened to leave. The hotel is gross and not like the photos. Our bathroom was filthy and the toilet paper was on the floor. The bed was actually decent- but NOT A KING. I will definitely be spreading the word that you should not waste your money on this hotel. Perhaps if they would have showed some sympathy to our situation I'd feel different.
Cleanliness/comfortable /location Parking fees
Convenience of location, it is within walking distance to most all tourists attractions. The parking fee is outrageous ($45) and you must use valet to park your vehicle. Customer service was professional; yet, it wasn't above and beyond what should happen.
Great location, excellent breakfast, comfortable rooms and courteous staff There is no fridge on the room
The location is within walking distance of our destination, the hotel is very clean and staff friendly. The room did not have a refrigerator or microwave, our previous stay there the room had both.
House keeping is good and something unexpected good....... Breakfast is not good enough e.g. lack of variety of fruits
Very well situated to everything - transport, shops,
Perfect location walking distance to main attractions. No guest laundry facilities had to walk to another Holiday in to use the laundry. Breakfast times could have been extended to at least 10am.
Very close to the wharf, restaurants, cable cars and cruise terminals.
The Location was really good The breakfast was poor and the room was a bit dingy with a small bathroom. They had a coffe maker in the bathroom - yuck!
Location and friendly staff. Room was clean and quiet 3 years ago the parking wasn't as expensive as this trip 51 plus 8 tax each night is outrageous
The rooms were clean, the cleaning staff was friendly and always greated when we would pass. The breakfast was very good and had a lot of options, we always are early and it seemed to get really busy the later you ate but they never ran out of food. I felt like it was a great value! The hotel is located in fishermans wharf and is walking distance to the pier and tour buses, bike rentals, shops, and dining options. We did not have hot water the first morning however it was fixed when we got back to the hotel later in the afternoon. The concierge staff could have been better- they suggested an Italian place for dinner that had terrible reviews- - im glad I checked ahead. We also asked about bars and nightlife and she sent us to broadway street which is full of strip clubs- didn't see many bars- after the fact we figured out that we should have been closer to the beach on the same street. They lacked knowledge of the areas, I know it's a big city but they should be familiar with areas to send tourists.
Best location for the money. Large rooms, great staff and always neat and clean. Fine for me, but only have large King bed. Could be problem for some. There is a pull out sofa, however.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bed was super comfortable. The location was perfect. Noise from the nightclub!
Localization is awesome, close to transportation, restaurants and theaters. THe staff is very polite and willing to help. The breakfast could be better. It seems the hotel doesn't care about offering a good breakfast. That was the only thing that wasn't better than what I expected.
Friendly and helpful staff. Comfy bed.
Location was suberb being 1 block from Union Square and so convenient to all modes of transportation, theater, shopping, restaurants. Can't be beat.
The hotel is well located, just one block from Union Square and its huge departament stores (Macys, Bloomingdalesm Saks etc) and boutiques. In Union Square there's a sightseeing bus stop, so it's easy to go to other points of interest. The room was good, large and clean. There was a microwave oven, a frigobar and cafeteria on a corner. There was some noise, it seemed to come from the hotel itself, like an extractor fan or something like that.
Very central hotel, close to everything, very helpful staff, nice room there was no pool and the hot tub was under renovation
Location was very desirable. Close to Union Square, but not right on Powell Street. Also, club level lounge and fitness center were nice. Even on the 10th floor, the street noise on Saturday night of our stay could be heard through closed windows.
We loved the size and layout of the room. it was so much larger than most "big city" hotels. Also, the location was excellent.
Location is perfect, steps from Union square, local music, theater and shopping. Price was very good. Two complaints although minor would have been easy to fix. The room had a coffee machine with packaged coffee but house cleaning forgot to leave new coffee packets for Sunday morning. The car was valet parked in the garage for the weekend but it was returned with some very minor new scratches on the drivers door.
I like being in the Presidential Suite.
Front desk was extremely helpful. I needed to cancel my reservation to relocate closer to the hospital where my family member was undergoing surgery for a brain tumor. However, I had booked the room through Expedia. The manager assured me that the hotel would not charge a cancellation fee, given that Expedia advertises no cancellation fees except as subject to the hotel. He was willing to be put on the phone with Expedia to explain the waiver. While on the phone with Expedia, I was put on hold for 30 minutes, then reprimanded by the Expedia representative that I would be charged a cancellation fee of the first night's stay. She refused to let me speak to the manager, and also refused to speak to the hotel manager who had happily obliged to discuss the matter with her. I was continually placed on hold, only to have her come back to the phone to reprimand me. I am grateful to the hotel manager for his hospitality which was in stark contrast to my telephone encounter with Expedia. Expedia and the false advertising of no cancellation fees, as well as the rude telephone spokesperson.
The room service was good and the beds were comfy We booked it becuase of the pool but when we got there we found the pool was closed for the whole of our stay. The location wasn't particularly good for sightseeing.
The room itself as well as the bathroom were very spacious and comfortable, certainly value for money (although a bit old-fasioned styled). The staff at the hotel was very friendly, but not able to check previous charges on the credit card (already confirmed by my bank), "the system is down now" was the suspicious answer I got. This is probably just holiday inn's policy and may have nothing to do with the staff's skills, who were always very helpfull. The parking is extremely expensive compared to the public parkings around.
simple place for business. very clean, beautiful view of the city and part of the bay. staff was helpful. good for late checkins, as checkin is 3pm, so make sure to call or check in prior to arrival. pool was closed for renovations, but that really isn't a complaint since they will be upgrading it which is great. maybe breakfast was kind of expensive, i payed $19 for the buffet when it was just me. so kind of high, $15 would have been more reasonable given the limited choice in food.
well the first day i opened my curtains and had a panoramic view of the bay. it was an absolutely georgous view of the city and bay, it could not have been better. nothing
One of the best business travel experiences ever Nothing
Convenient location especially the cable car stop adjacent to the hotel. Room temp was difficult to manage.
Friendly Staf, clean rooms. City c Highly expensive parking!!!
I like the view and the complimentary wine tasting.. Our room at the 20th floor had a great view of the city at night.. Even tho it was a short stay on our 10th year aniversarie it was a great one..
Nothing in particular. If you reserve with Booking they give you the room next to the elevator which is very noisy during all the day. The staff is not very professional; I asked to change the room and they told me that in that day the were complete and the move to the other room was possible only the day after. These was completely false because a friend of mine reserved a room for the same day 30 min. after. Parking very expensive, in the nearby street you can find easy parking for the half price. The zone is not very beautiful, the only nice thing is the cable car stop next to the exit.
Very good value. Nice looking and simple hotel for a very reasonable rate. Just what I was looking for. Nice breakfast and good views. Took my wife and baby with me on a business conference trip. Room worked well for the baby with enough space for the crib provided unlike other hotels I saw. Overall very solid hotel. Location was not the best but I knew that going in. Some of the surrounding streets were a little sketchy at night. Not a big deal for me but maybe for some others. Parking pricey at $45 a night but all hotels in SF are about this expensive.
the staff were the best. Baker on reception was a great help nothing to add
The location is perfect: near the ferry building , F line, Bart, and cable cars. Our bay view room was simple, really comfortable and designed well. Jon honored our birthday celebration with wine and chocolates: so thoughtful.
The Lobby and wine service. Should not say Courtyard view--there is no courtyard. We were given a handicapped room, (we are completely able), that did not have a wine bar and the shower was extremely weak. They did not ask if we wanted a handicapped room. They did give us an upgrade the next night-but the previous night's stay was wasted.
Generally quiet location, low key public spaces (lotsa night life next door with several restaurants), very helpful and friendly staff. Nightly wine tasting in the lobby. Ez access to bart, ferries, waterfront, and downtown. Our room didn't have a view, but there should be some rooms with views of the Bay.
excellent view, clean quiet room, evening wine tasting, friendly staff rooms a bit small
Great location, updated by Kimpton. Generally comfortable, lovely lobby... The room was the smallest room I have ever stayed in the US, directly adjacent to the elevator.
The location of the Court Hotel was amazing. Just a block away from the ferry building and bart station. There were many wonderful restaurants just feet away.
staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel location and facilities were excellent. No.
The location on SF bay with panoramic views of the bay Bridge was outstanding Small room size
Location was convenient. I love the Embarcadero area.
Welcoming and comfortable hotel that's perfectly situated. Room (king) was spacious, the bathroom, while medium sized, was neat and modern, and the honor bar well stocked! Honestly cannot fault this hotel. And, for those who like to work out, the next-door gym is exceptionally well kitted out - the best "hotel" gym I've ever seen.
Excellent customer service Building is too old
It was close to everything!!! Its in a really noisy part of town
easy Too much furniture in the double room!
Location, mainly. Good sized room. I needed to do a bit of work so the desk was handy.
average good. very kind hotel staff and wonderful location. and safe.
The location and value of the hotel is easily the best in San Francisco. We have stayed at this hotel many times and are always very satisfied with the service Nothing
The room set up was very comfortable and allowed for eating, watching a movie and playing a game with my kids. And the bed/bedding was very nice. The smell in the room was not great; we brought in a few gardenias from the flower stand and it did the trick.
Clean room good shower City noise very disruptive to sleep. I actually got up the next A.M. to find out where street work was being done.
Return stay at Hotel Abri was great. I was upgraded to complimentary suite. Staff is always very helpful and friendly.
It was in a great location. Close to restaurants, Market St for shopping, cable car very close, Rooms are clean, offers (HBO, Free Wi-Fi and Restaurant in the Hotel) The rooms are to small, to hot in the room (muggy), drinking glasses were not wrapped in plastic, parking is to expensive.
The staff was very friendly, there was an elegant ambiance about the whole place. Didn't get a chance to dine at the in-house restaurant, but it was very busy the whole stay so it must have been good (though expensive). This hotel is located in the heart of San Francisco, so getting to other restaurants and shops was easy as pie. The cleanliness of the room could be improved, there were several hairs on our bed and a big stain on the sheets. The room size was very small, and had very little natural lighting because our window faced another building. The bathroom was teeny, though immaculately clean. Also, the parking offered by the hotel is $50, so it is cheaper to park in the parking garage if you are just staying one night like we did ($23).
The location was great, just a couple blocks from the Powell cable car turnaround, bart station, and all the Union Square shops. We had a room on the top floor and it was a good size for a city hotel. Great location also meant that there was a lot of street noise at all hours (eg, nightclub across the street). But we just kept the fan on as white noise and it was fine.
the free breakfast. Quite a quaint place to stay. No window view at all in our room.
The ambience and location. A very different experience and obvious pride in which the owners had tastefully decorated each and every room. Lack of Tea/coffee making facility in the room.
Everything about the hotel, it was charming, very clean, the people were very nice, the room was comfortable. Loved the decor and the French influence. I would defintely stay there again and would recommend it to family and friends. Loved the old elevator, reminded me of the one when I lived in San Francisco many years ago. I am planning on another trip to San Francisco in the near futrue and would like ot stay there again. Close to Union Square and stores and restaurants. Want to try their dinner next time. Dont have any dislikes whatsoever
It was very nice to get an American Breakfast with your room rate. No blow dryer in the room - had to ask for one, and go to the office to get it.
The service was spot on as well as the entire decor of the place. Very beautiful and clean. The room was quaint and delightful. I enjoyed the bathtub very much. The heater was a little hard to use.
Kind hospitality, There is no coffe machine in the rooms
There is French music playing near the office. Each floor has the works of a French artist, and we stayed on the Chagall floor - one of my favorites. The elevator was prompt and I enjoyed the old style gate that closed after the doors closed. Very charming. Quite close to Union Square. American breakfast was included in our price; nicely done. -
We were very pleased about the location. The hotel was very cozy and comfortable and we would definitely consider staying here again next time we'll be in San Francisco. Only that the wireless internet connection should be working in all rooms and maybe the breakfast could be improved with more fruit/ healthy alternatives to the eggs and french toasts, which was good but very rich!
I liked the friendliness of the staff and the attention to making the hotel a comfortable place to stay.
Location, just perfect Restaurant schedule
Staffs are very friendly
Convenient, charming and reasonably priced. Includes a well-prepared complementary breakfast. Would have tried the restaurant but it was quite expensive. No fridge in room.
The room was large as was the bed. The sheets and pillows were fabulous. The decor is totally themed Victorian but with modern bathrooms and TV. I moved to a back room which was very quiet. Staff was helpful. Breakfast included was fine - even had a fresh waffle-making machine. Originally I was in a room on the 2nd floor facing Sutter Street which was noisy so I switched to a back room that was quiet.
Courtious staff, reasonable price and good location
The rooms were clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. Nice morning breakfast to start the day. Love the cozy and warm ambience. Hope to stay again on a future trip.
Queen Anne is a beautiful place to stay in San Francisco. The staff and service were great. The location is the best I was able to walk and enjoy the many scenes of San Francisco. I love the history of Queen Anne and love that they have the history printed out for you to look at. I also love their tea, sherry and treats that they give out at 4pm every day. It was great to wake up and enjoy breakfast in this wonderful establishment. I hope to visit again soon. Wish they had bacon for breakfast. The smell of bacon gets me up in the morning.
The staff was very helpful and courteous. The downstairs common areas were very spacious and comfortable. The complimentary Internet service did not quite reach my room - the signal was weak and therefore I was unable to conduct any electronic business.
The staff was very helpful
the location, the staff, the decor, other guests The darkness of the room facing a wall across a narrow space
Very accommodating staff. Pretty central location with decent breakfast options. Afternoon sherry, tea and cookies enjoyable. No fan in room so needed to open windows for air movement and then had some traffic noise. Better bedside lighting for reading. Maid service was just ok but not through.
My wife & myself stayed at Queen Anne for 5 nights during our trip. We are so pleased with the service. Although it is like an old historic house, everything is tidy & clean. Giving us a feeling of warmth & like home. Furniture & things are all like antique. Roberto and Rita, the concierge was superb giving us very very good recommendation & always helpful tips. People there were very nice & friendly, the kind that we couldn't get from those chain hotels. Will certainly stay there again next time we visit San Francisco. Cheers, you guys at Queen Anne are great.
The place really has a charm, and the moment you walk through the door you feel like there is nothing the staff won't do for you - and do it with a smile. It is very cosy and welcoming. The afternoon tea/coffee/sherry and cookies is a lovely touch too. Also, the cinnamon scent throughout constantly made us stop and sniff appreciatively. There weren't a lot of restaurants nearby - but then again, the ones that were close were lovely (especially the Persian).
I loved the location, and overall appearance of this hotel. The staff was awesome. I enjoyed the tea, and coffee, and continental breakfast. The beds had plastic liners which were noisy when rolling over or changing positions.
coziness in the hotel, fireplace on, 4 pm sherry time
extremely friendly and helpful staff, room cleanliness, location in union square area rooms small, but most likely the norm given the area
the honour bar - i like that they trust you. The front desk welcome style. Assistance with familiarising ourselves with San Fran. Ease of car being taken and returned for parking. didnt love the art in our room but know that is personal taste.
Beautiful art deco decor, and great location - and especially great to be welcomed each evening in the bar with a glass of wine! A great feeling of hospitality in the hotel. Front rooms can be a little noisy with street traffic.
Good location Price relative to similar accommodation
our hotel was a very luxurius hotel witch din't cost mutch money
Happy Hour in the hotel bar with "Ricky" and live music, very fun
Very helpful at the front desk nothing was a problem. Booked a car to the airport for us. Bonus is happy hour with the other guest each evening.
Hotel staff were friendly and helpful, the room was charming. Free tea and coffee downstairs every morning was a great bonus, and the bar had a nice cosy atmosphere for a nightcap - it didn't feel like a hotel. My room was at the back which meant it was quite quiet which I believe is hard to find in the centre of town. Perfect location for transport everywhere. The coffee shop attached to the hotel served terrible coffee!
Fun design, good food at Mum's restaurant All was good.
Very nice and modern rooms with Manga on the walls - perfect!
Funky hotel with bed rooms & great beds! The neigbourhood was v. interesting - lots of shops & services nearby but no tourists
This was the first time that we stayed in a hotel in such close proximity to Japantown and we were not disappointed. The feel of the hotel was that of a boutique-style hotel where the staff was very attentive to our needs. The decor of the rooms were nothing that we have seen before and was such a pleasant surprise. We would definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers to the San Francisco area.
Big double beds, the design of the bedroom, location of the hotel in Japantown (calm area of the city), bus stop opposite the hotel, good connections to downtown. Nothing in particular
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Funky modern design, good location for Japantown. Nice view Check in was slow and room is pretty spartan, if "funked up" with Japanese kitsch. Although we ordered a King we got two small Queens
Very well located...professional staff, very clean and friendly hotel. Japantown is the best and safest way to discover San Francisco. Free Wifi and lcd Tv: Simply perfect Rates are excluding taxes and city tax, so please pay attention to final total
we loved the bartender - she was awesome - we talked about saki and where she was from, what her parents drank...she was terrific!!!
The hotel staff was absolutely wonderful! Always trying to be helpful! The decor was very unique and enchanting. The beds were very comfortable.
The price point and location were great. The staff was always kind and greated us. It was nice and clean. So was the general location of the hotel. Some other "high end" hotels in the financial district for instance suffer from ridiculous pricing ,and you get to watch homeless at close range. The beds were terrible ,imagine the Grand Canyon combined with the Marianas trench. Rooms very spartan and bland.
The staff was great. Helped with tickets to attractions and local restaurant suggestions. Comfortable beds were a plus. No free breakfast, but reasonably priced breakfast was available
Great location, pricy for the little you get. Not the cleanest Marriott I've stayed in
Within walking distance to everything you want to see! Perfect for families! Love the breakfast room. Very clean!
I loved the comfortable bed, the cleanliness, and the friendliness of the staff. We had stayed at another location the night before which was so terrible, that I was online looking for a hotel and fortunately found the Marriott. They were able to accommodate us and turned our potentially awful weekend into a great success. I wish we would have found Marriott earlier. Could hear some people late at night but they settled down quickly enough.
The hotel staff was very helpful! Everyday Edward had suggestions for us. The room was very clean and was in a great location. Only a block from the dock, food, shopping, and tour buses. Street was a little noisy. But obviously, not the hotels fault.
Great, central location. The Nob Hill neighborhood is nice, plenty of places to eat and shop nearby. Everyone on staff at the Inn was incredibly friendly and helpful. The building itself is gorgeous. We had a really enjoyable stay here! Neighborhood is a little noisy, but it's the middle of the city so it's to be expected.
The staff were incredibly helpful, and the location was perfect Traffic noise as vehicles made it up the very steep slope outside my window
Quaint. Charming. Right in the city. Did a lot of walking. Close to Union Square and Chinatown. Great eating places nearby Loved the hotel staff. They were helpful, informative and always considerate. Friends all said that this would be a place that they would return with their spouses and children.
It's like you're really staying in someone's mansion! The feel is not like you're in a hotel but in a fancy home. I liked how quiet it was, and tables to use downstairs. Also loved how big my room was with a desk I could use! Most hotels these days dont have workspace. Loved that there was a fridge in the room but the microwave was downstairs in a kitchen area so you ate down there - that way the room didn't smell. Couldn't figure out the thermostat
