Love the bathroom idea. Each one was different and fun to explore. Rooftop view was amazing. Great pictures. Over all good vibes love it ! There wasn't anything I didn't like.
It was the perfect place to crash. We didn't need anything other than a room. My 6 year old loves the bunk beds. The shared bathroom was clean and we never had to wait for one. I would totally stay there again.
Clean and convient to my meeting Friday night a group staying of the same floor came in at 1am yelling, laughing and banging the doors.
Good location, small rooms, thin walls
Clean. Private bathroom in our room. Accessible rooftop. Worked well for our spontaneous day in New York. Noise from hallway. High traffic from shared bathroom.
Small clean room, easy check in, good internet Rooms are for sleeping, not hanging out, but completely met my needs - I was traveling for business.
As a solo traveler staying in hostels mostly, I picked pod 51 and I was so happy with this place. As a hostel stayer saying your very happy is far in between. Very clean and very cute. Twin beds are bigger than the twins you usually see. We both had our own tv and outlet and sink! Right in midtown close to train and Ess-a-bagel! Would recommend this place to anyone.
I liked the location. The room is tiny with no room to properly open a suitcase. Not a nice place to hang out. Also, you can hear everything in the halls. I was so happy to move to another hotel with a bigger room.
Everything was great with the exception of our next door neighbour, who chained smoked both in his room and in the communal bathroom. He was on his cell phone constantly at all hours of the night, talking loud and sometimes yelling while going between his room and the bathroom to smoke. We complained twice to front desk staff who didn't appear to do anything about it as it went on for 4 days.
C u again next year!!!
Clean rooms, comfortable beds, close to good restaurants and subways. What's not to like? :) Small space (as advertised)
Location Micro hotel Essentials Cleanliness The rooftop access and view Kept bags for us even after we checked out No ice machine
very friendly and helpful staff, spacious superior room
Friendly & knowledgeable staff.Clean comfortable room.Excellent location.Added bonus of breakfast.
Good location, very friendly staff, lively restaurant.
This hotel has a remarkably friendly staff that seems eager to converse, making the guest feel comfortable and welcomed.
Excellent staff attitudes and helpfulness 1. The room decor was pretty stylish, but it was a bit dark for my taste. 2. at $299 it was excellent value; if the rack rate really is $500+ it's not good value at that price.
Location, and small hotel ambience
Very stylish - very helpful staff - good breakfast - excellent service Bathroom too small
Everything, could not have asked for a better time. Having to leave
The staff was incredibly helpful and pleasant. They even sent my Mom a birthday cake up to the room with no prompting from me. They just overheard us talking about her birthday. Very nice.
A terrific small hotel with helpful staff, high standards and human scale.
This hotel was so clean and beautiful, with comfortable beds and complimentary pillow service which we loved trying!! The staff was so friendly and helpful, gave great advice and recommendations on food and directions, and took great care of us! My only complaint would be that the wifi is so expensive, $62, but since it was our first time staying at the Benjamin, the concierge attendant was kind enough to comp that for us.
Central to the places I needed to visit. Reasonable price for New York City.
Personal service from front desk staff was wonderful. On our arrival William sent milk and cookies to my girls who thought that was great.
Good location; nice rooms; excellent, helpful staff Pull-out sofa not very comfortable;
What a Fab hotel, Staff Friendliness, Great Location, Large Suite,
my room after I forced the front desk to give me a bigger room the original small room
The hotel has a good location. The bell service is appropriate. In my personal opinion the hotel is a bit overpriced.
Staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful
Spacious room for ny standards and price. Very helping staff, especially the concierge and nice lobby.
Room rate Location
The deluxe rooms are a good size considering NY space. The baths in the deluxe rooms are a real indulgence if you have the time to take advantage of them, the staff are helpful and friendly and the hotel generally achieves its 'cool' status if that's important to you. Just a heads up, it is a real favoured after work drinking hub and often still much like a bar into the late evenings. Nice touch with the Ipad in the room, location was spot on and easily accessible to all the areas. Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Royalton, but had gotten a good rate through booking.com. Paying standard rates I may have felt it was alot of money for what it was. Concierge Sasha was exceptionally helpful and was always willing to help. Whilst I appreaciate the mood and ambience of the hotel it would be nice to have been able to get more natural light into the room, we faced the inner courtyard so this might have attributed. I found the cost of the room service pretty expensive but the food was good if small in portion. My main gripe was the internet in the room, for a pretty signigicant charge it would cut out regularly if two consoles or laptops were being used at the same time (I was there on business), suggestion for improvement would be maybe a more varied offering in the gym it was relatively limited on the machines.
I loved the environment. It was very friendly and warm. My bed was comfortable and the bathroom was beautiful. I wish the TV was in a better location and the iPad had more apps on it.
Jessica on concierge was fantastic. She was very helpful and was very friendly. As well as being the only person you literally have any contact with. I really was disappointed with the ambience each afternoon. It felt like we were walking into a nightclub each day. The lighting was perfect, however the music very obtrusive and the relaxation of the hotel was not there.
OUtstanding bar with great ambience Room fairly small but still very comfortable
How close it was to 5th Avenue Nothing
I like the hotel decor
As a regular guest at other Morgans Hotels, I was once again left completely impressed and taken by the ambience created in each of their hotels, from decor, to music, to design to their staff. Ideal location, lovely bar/foyer, wonderful cocktails, fantastic service.
staff... excellent service. though it takes 40 mins to get a bucket of ice.
Service was exremely pleasant and accommodating. Room was the smallest room I have ever stayed in. There was no room to put suitcases, no drawers for clothes, insufficient room for toiletries, not even a box of tissues. TV wall mouint was broken so huge TV took up entire desk. TV did not work properly, either. Mattress was worn out and sagging. Room was generally down at the heels.
The staff was so nice and went above and beyond to be as helpful as they could. Mario was a wonderful door man that was able to compensate the trouble we had with our door. Chris and Danny helped my mom and I get metro cards so we could use the subway to travel around the city. Danny physically walked us to the train station to show us where to buy the metro cards. We had issues with the door to our room the entire stay, the key card wouldn't work after ten minutes of being programmed.
The staff was pleasant and helpful. The room and bathroom were small. no place to put the suitcases. also one elevator did not work for over 2 days and we did not have water for 12 hours.
The staff are excellent. They make every effort to ensure that you are welcomed and enjoy your stay.
The staff is excellent-helpful and friendly. The rooms are very comfortable. Very good bar. A small annoyance--all of the housekeeping paraphernalia (carts, towels, etc) was stored right outside my room. No noise or anything, just a bit unsightly.
Rooms and staff were excellent! Front desk, bar, concierge and bell men. Very very helpful to me when I hurt my ankle. Heard cleaning staff complaining in the hall, they didn't care who heard them.
The staff was excellent! The location of the hotel was great and the room was incredibly clean and comfortable. nothing.
The room was very large for NYC and comfortable, with a great view. We were upgraded to a suite, at no extra charge because we had an extra person.
The bedroom was very spacious, well fitted out and quiet. The bed was exceptionally comfortable - the best hotel bed we have slept in. The location at Bryant Park, a short walk from Times Square was unbeatable - nice quiet area but so close to all the noise and action. The hotel dining room (Koi Restaurant) was out of our budget, as were the room service and mini-bar pricing. A good job there were so many alternatives nearby. I can't remember ever having to go out to breakfast before!
the location of course, the room with the view of the park, the complimentary wine in the cellar the first room was extremly small-we had to upgrade, also while the room was clean what quite often gets overlooked are the dirty finger/hand smudges on light switches,on door frames , door handles etc.I had to use a soapy washcloth to wipe this all down plus the surface of the leather seating
Very central hotel, convenient for a city trip Didn't think that the hotel had enough amenities - Bars and restaurants
Relaxed style Staff very helpful
Very central, close to everything in NYC, they upgraded us to a junior suite for free. Even if our room was a junior suite, we were on the 5th floor, with an bad view on the AC ventilation (very noisy at night).
Great location. Rooms are decent size and clean.staff was friendly Hallway is very dark at all times
the style of the room they charge more for a 2 bed room because according to them we booked for one bed room. They added 100$ more per night.
The hotel is in a great location and our room was much bigger than other hotel rooms I've stayed at in New York. The bed turn-down was too early - before we were back from being out in the day and even when we requested a second turn-down it didn't always happen.
I love this hotel. The tech needs a minor facelift. I love the USB ports in the plug ins and alarm, but the Apple connection stuff is a decade old and Apple always changes their stuff just enough that you have to keep upgrading random toys like iPads, which sucks because even an old iPad can do some basic stuff like watch Netflix and control your AirPlay Spotify and those things, which is way more valuable than if you buy an app for a buck and you play it for a week and then check a month later and its third on your list for storage used. So certain things I've had to upgrade and now I'm a plugin short, which is a super first world problem sounding issue. Just sayin', the whole thing seems fishy to me. This hotel is nice. I'd absolutely stay there again, and there's a Blue Bottel coffee like 3 doors down, which is nice because New Yorkers are an amazing group of people that I love, but they don't drink good coffee. There are Starbucks everywhere and they always taste burned (burnt?) to me. Blue Bottle is a bit pretentious, but when you're a great coffee in a great city, you're winning. Also, Bryant Park is across the street from the hotel, and they do a bunch of cool little concerts and stuff in that park, and they keep it clean and there is a solid brunch place in there and a Grill. Oh, yeah, and the elevators at the hotel are some weird cross between a coffin and a bad 70's porno shoot. It's really dark and there may be velvet on the walls, but it's too dark to tell. If you're in there with another person, it's a little tight. A person or two with luggage? Really tight. That's a hard one to fix, though. You'd be out of commission the entire time because it's the only way up. Maybe just brighten it a little bit. The bar downstairs used to be solid and I bet still is, but I didn't go down there this trip. It is Friday night and I just wrote that. That is not a good life sign.
the location is great because I love Bryant Park. Old hotel, but redone kind of modernish. They should have left it old. We had a tiny room that looked out on ugly air conditioners from the other building. I had always dreamed of staying there but was very disappointed .
Location, location, location. The size of the room was a major plus point. We were pleasantly surprised with the huge terrace space given to me (room #1401) and though it only had a partial view of the park, it was quiet for a midtown manhattan hotel. The entertainment planner Katherine was very patient and friendly and she managed to book reservations at Jean George and Gramercy Tavern for dinner and lunch respectively. I stronly recommend the higher floors as there are fewer rooms the higher you go, hence quieter. I think there were only 6 or 7 rooms on my floor. The doorman / bellboy was helpful with luggage and getting cabs. On check out day, there were few cabs available and doorman flagged a passing private limo for us at reasonable rate of US$85 to Newark. Will definitely return to this gorgeous Quintessentially manhattan hotel. not applicable
Location was good for walking but, I was very dissappointed at how dirty smelling the lobby was. I stayed in NYC before and after a trip to the Galapagos. On the way down I stayed at a Hilton and on th way back I spent a little extra to end the holiday on a high note and chose the Intercontinental. In Asia Intercon hotels are luxurious and wonderful. The Intercon Barclay was a big dissappointment. The smell in the lobby for all 3 days was sour and foul. It reminded me of a gym locker. I hated walking through the lobby and sometimes you could smell it on the stairs before you even entered the building. Considering I paid about 100 dollars more a night then the Hilton, which was only three streets away, the room was very small and cramped. The bathroom was also very small, dirty, and the grout in the tile had not been cleaned well
Rooms are quite larger, ceilings high. Decor is modern but not colorful. Still some areas under construction
We went to NYC just before Christmas and could not have been happier with this hotel. Although our room was small, we did not spend much time in the room and therefore it did not bother us! The staff was so friendly and helpful and the location was amazing! We would definitely stay here again on our next visit to the city!
it was central and close to the bus pick up for Javits centre no cafe style dining
room was shabby; breakfast personnel unfriendly.
The staff were always helpful and the hotel was in a great location to shopping, Times Square and Grand Central Station The shower used cloth shower curtains so that by the second shower the water would wick out to the second curtain and onto the floor. Also there is no fan in the bathroom so it was a bit steamy when you got out.
the location was good for the purpose of my business trip the bathroom was the size of a small closet with the smallest tub I have ever seen. the internet did not work for two days and on one day I had a cold water shower. Definitely not a 5 star hotel other than their prices and flower arrangement in the lobby
Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was beautiful, rooms were very clean and more comfortable than home.
The room service prices seem a bit excessive
Location good. No facility for making tea in the rooms. The extracters in the bathrooms did not work. Complementary Tea/coffee in lobby stopped at 7am.Basic internet facility should be complementary. the bathrooms are too small.
Staff were excellent - despite it being a busy hotel - one of the bellhops remembered my name and greeted me almost every time I returned - made me feel very welcome!
Wifi was great and entertainment and amenities on the ground floor were amazing. I had to change rooms because of the auto noise on the Lexington Avenue facing side.
Easy location. Noise levels from road were quite loud. You can't sit in the bar area without buying a drink, even if you are a hotel patron. I had forgotten my phone charge and the hotel staff was not helpful in providing a temporary replacement, perhaps from lost and found. Instead I was referred to an overpriced in-house gift shop trying to sell me a micro-usb cable for 15-20$. Check-in is late at 4:00 pm. Room was tiny.
Location The room had no AC, complain nothing happened, opened window, I could barely sleep because of the noise from outside
Door man was not in a service. Luggage deposit payable even in waiting for the room clearance.
The room was ok, was not too happy with my experience here. The place was a "4" star and the hallways my family and I smelled weed When I asked the valet parking to get please get my car "I was told it took 20 minutes " I waited 50 minutes and no one came to let me know my car was ready, and they knew I was wait for it.
The location was great & the hotel is small but pretty. It was New Year's Eve & they were understaffed. The check in took too long, when we finally got to our room it wasn't cleaned. Very messy. Had to go back to lobby. They apologized and changed the room. Later that night the key for the room stopped working so we visited the lobby a third time. Then the tub got clogged. We left it like that and checked out in the morning. Nothing was offered for the inconveniences and we had to wait for about an hour to get the car from the valet which was other hassle because we lost the stub and had to go again to the front desk. I'd been happy if the parking fee at least would've been waived. Again, beautiful hotel & location but they need more staff.
Accessibility/ location, customer service No sound insulation in rooms near elevators (room near elevator was outrageously loud because of elevator mechanism and doors continuously opening and closing). They moved our room, but could be a problem if hotel is full.
Me and my girlfriend arrived to the hotel at 6pm. Check in time was 4pm but we were told we still had to wait an additional 20 minutes for the key? I would've understood if it was a computer problem but I wasn't given a reason as to why I had to wait.
Location was perfect. My room and bathroom were very small, even cramped. I glanced in other rooms while housekeeping had them open and they were much more appropriate-sized. Perhaps my "low priced room" wasn't a bargain, but just the price of a small room.
Music at the lobby No toothpaste!
The rooms are perfect a d the beds are wonderful to sleep.the tv is perfect
Our room was nicely decorated and was clean. We also liked the fact that the hotel had water and coffee in the lobby. The hotel is centrally located, which made getting around the city very easy. The room was very small and it was difficult to maneuver around our one piece of luggage and each other in the bathroom. The wifi also wasn't secure.
Clean and comfortable rooms - well air conditioned. The breakfast included in the rate was very good. The cheese and wine afternoon tea was also excellent and a great way to meet the different guests in the hotel. It is well located for all the sights of New York. The staff were able to make good dinner recommendations and never failed to impress.
location/ nice rooms with robes, slippers and complimentary water. Also breakfast included although basic and free wine early evening.
liked Everything. Excellent hotel
Staff is great !! Very welcoming and very eager to serve the client at best The room was very nice but a little bit more space would not have hurt ... now remember this is NY, so not really a complaint. Also, noise isolation could be enhanced (we were at the 12th floor but still heard a bit too much what was happening in the street)
Friendly, great amenities! We stayed in the "Money" room- the books were all 10years plus old- this was disappointing!
Hotel was in a great location to explore and the staff were attentive without being over-bearing. Great hotel.
Location was excelllent. The reception staff were extremely helpful and polite, nothing was too much trouble for them. Fantastic facilities. very comfortable hotel.
The staff were verfy polite and did their best to provide a very good sdervice
Good location, personal service and has character Was very expensive which I dont think reflect the facilities available (eg no spa)
Small hotel with a relaxed atmosphere. It's location is in the perfect position for the top sights and not too far to the main shops. The petite rooms are very small
The location was great. Very friendly hotel staff. The only problem we had was a couple of times we tried to find someone at the front desk and no one was there. The elevators are EXTREMELY slow! I wasn't a fan of the bathroom doors. All of them being made of glass NO privacy whatsoever!!
Decent rooms, does feel as clean as other hotels, kinda dated. They do not use ECOLAB product, which, to me, lowers by impression of cleanings and hygiene. No hot water.
The staff was great, and I liked that they had a wine and cheese for an hour, although I made it there 10 min before they stopped, the staff still served us. I wish the check-in/out desk was a bit more up-graded like the rooms.
Too many thing!
Free breakfast Nice staff and good location But the room is not cozy and warm. Not recommeded for family trip.
The location I was disappointed with the room as the first time I stayed there I was upgraded to the better room. This time, a small window looking no where and a handicapped shower with no door. Disappointed..
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
Upgraded us to a suite. Great location. Charged a hotel fee but it included free breakfast and happy hour in a club room. Very friendly and helpful staff.
The location of the hotel was prefect Nothing
Great, modern room; very nice staff; lots of perks that made the stay feel special
The customer service was excellent. Every single staff member was very professional and welcoming making our stay very enjoyable. The attention to detail during our stay was superb. Beautiful rooms and hotel. Great location. Wonderful stay. We loved everything.
concern for my experience was prioritized and evident at all times NO
The staff were very friendly, carried our luggage, and even upgraded our room to have a terrace which was huge! The room was also very clean. We could hook our phones to the smart tv or rent any movie we wanted. The location is awesome. We could walk to Bryant Park, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, etc. The elevator was very slow. We also could not change the temperature in the room. I kept setting it to 66-68 and somehow it stayed on 74 or would automatically change back to 74 during the day/night. It was extremely hot. Additionally, there is no hotel parking. We had to circle the block on our own. The hotel did give us a discount though.
From the moment you spot the flower crowned steps and friendly doorman you'll know you found a diamond in the rough of Manhatten. The William combines a classic touch with a very hip flare. The room was immaculate and complete with high tech accessories, high end toiletries, and the best - your very own Nespresso bar. The staff were super helpful and efficient, and you have your choice of an intimate cocktail lounge or adjoining tavern to enjoy.
Comfortable- Excellent customer service- all staff is very customer-focused and the accommodations are very comfortable. The only issue was with the key cards for room entry- did not work for the bell hop that escorted me up initially and were rekeyed, the did not work for me when I returned from dinner later that evening. The front desk explained that there have been some problems with the new system.
Very atmospheric. Lots of history. Cozy nice wine bar
It is a hotel where guests are treated like royalty. Staff very courteous and friendly, rooms immaculate and very comfortable, hotel very accomodating. Lobby is wonderful, cozy with armchairs and drink and food service...great hotel. I've stayed at the Algonquin many times, and have never found anything unlikeable about it. Now that all the rooms have been rennovated it's even better.
Friendly staff, comfortable bed, good food, very pleasant atmosphere of lounge/dining area Room opened straight on to the corridor (no entrance hall with bathroom/wardrobes as in many hotel rooms)
The vibe is just right: every single person--desk, bell person, housekeeper--was extremely polite and considerate without being obsequious. The intellectual history of the hotel obviously is still regarded as important. Room (deluxe queen) was elegantly set up and very clean. Room size was comfortable, by New York standards (meaning most are very small).
The Algonquin has a great location on 44th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues. It is a few minutes walk from Times Square but in a quiet street. The lobby and lounge is very attractvie with wood panelled walls. We had a deluxe room on the 10th floor with a gigantic king sized bed, although the room itself wasnt particularly big. The gym was very well equipped and air comditioned. The hotel has character from the wallpaper showing cartoons from the New York Times to the in-house cat. The business centre only consists of one PC and printer which is chargeable by the minute/page. Having said that, it was never in use when I needed it and I was able to print my boarding card for an onward flight easily. The rooms are not particularly large.
Excellent location, close to Times Square but quiet, twin bed room size ok for New York, very friendly staff, newly renovated bathroom, beautifully styled and very lively lobby frequented by natives no, nothing!
Efficient accurate checkout. Nice atmosphere. Comfortable bed. Malfunctioning key system. Nonfunctioning controls for temperature of room.
The room itself, although quite small, was clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. A particular woman at the front desk wasn't very plesant or professional upon our arrival when it was determined that they lost our reservation. Nor was she helpful and respectful when we tried to resolve a billing error made by them. Unfortunately, one week later, I am still trying to get my money back from this hotel.
Location was perfect for our needs; the hotel's history is fascinating. The construction taking place behind the hotel involved nonstop noise--- like jackhammering but worse because of the huge excavating equipment--- from 7 A.M. to 6 P.M. during the work week. We were told we were "upgraded" to a queen room upon arrival and then informed about the construction. Thank goodness I had brought earplugs! While I realize the Algonquin has no control over nearby construction, I do think they should inform guests earlier or reduce the rate for guests staying on the backside of the hotel. The noise was deafening---even the porter warned us when he took our bags to the room, saying the noise was really bad. I loved the hotel except for this terrible noise.
Luxury and convenience
Space and privacy. housekeeping was spotty some of the time, late, and frequently the room was not cleaned well enough e.g. trash left in trash cans.
Very pleasant and accomodating staff. Close to United Nations building, Grand Central station, Empire state building. We had only 2 problems with this hotel. 1. aka website states that the apartment has "spectacular" views which is absolutely not the case. The views that we had were just of the next building. This may be the case for all Manhattan apartment/hotels but the aka should withdraw their claim of "stunning" views. The "view" from the room was particularly important to us and we and specifically requested this at the time of booking and were dissapointed to find that there was little to see from the apartment. 2. It would be much better if the sofa in the lounge woud instead be a sofabed.
Everything was perfect! totally recomendable! I liked everything!
It was very relaxing stay; the facilities in the room were very sufficient. The room cleaning has to be more than one time in a week.
I stayed in a one-bedroom suite and I had everything I could need for a 1-week stay. The location was excellent for my meetings and the personnel - especially the reception - was very accommodating and nice. Also, since I was there at a less busy time for the location, the price quality was excellent. Not really.
Very comfortable, peaceful and convenient location to stay in NY. Nothing I can say in particular.
People are friendly, the receptionist all excellent
Amazing room. It was clean and well equipped. Staff was very helpfull.
beautiful accommodation, good location, very helpful staff. No.
