The location was good. The hotel and the room was old fashion. The pictures of the rooms that you show in your website doesn´t match the real ones. Also I had to pay an extra $100 for facilities fee.

2 bathrooms for one room made it extra convienent. Clean rooms. Ask for a room with a view. You can't go wrong. Didn't have any issues with anything.

The location was awesome It was so small and incredibly expensive for what you get. There were families being evicted in adjacent rooms. Don't know the story there, but not your typical "4 star" experience.
Location Very Old hotel and very expensive
Location is great. Price wasn't bad. Even though I booked and prepaid for our stay, they charged us 23 per night for "facility fee". When I asked what was for, they said "it's a required fee for wifi". I tried to say we didn't need wifi, but the gentleman said "sorry, it's a required fee". There is also some construction going on, which woke us up at 730am. When look outside, there was a cord. They didn't alert us about construction, and neither told us to make sure our curtains were closed. Rooms are also a bit outdated and small.
Came down from Boston and wanted to stay near Penn Station to make traveling home easier. The location was good since it's a quick five minute walk to the train. My biggest complaint is that the hotel charged me an extra $25 fee for the business lounge, phones and wifi, which they didn't disclose to me at all. In fact, when I checked in, they touted their guest wifi as a feature of the hotel. You can imagine my surprise then when I woke up with a paper invoice slipped underneath my door in the middle of the night demanding I pay $25 for a "facilities fee." Seems like they are nickel-and-diming their customers to squeeze out every last dollar of an already expensive hotel. Beyond the hiddens fees, I stayed in a Double Metro room with a colleague. The room was a bit cramped without much room to move around. There were only two accessible outlets in the entire room, so charging phones and laptops between meetings was impossible for both of us at once. The others outlets either used European plugs or were inaccessible behind the headboards of the beds. In the middle of the night, the room became inexplicable hot and since you can't open the windows, there was really no way to cool it down. The shower fluctuated back and forth between frigid and scalding hot every 5 seconds. All in all, the facilities were so so and I was thankful my tripped was only schedule for one night.
Location Staff were not very friendly. Man at desk checking me in was quite short with me, he kept asking me for a voucher, I kept telling him I didn't have one. He obviously wasn't listening to me. He never said hello, welcome, please or thank you. I realize it was check in time so it was busy, but don't work in this industry if you can't deal with people more appropriately. I actually found all the staff quite stand-offish, except the gentleman at the bag check. I had no cold water for my shower, and there was a tag from previous visitor on the floor in the bathroom. I left a bag in one of the rooms, when I called half hour later, I spent 20 minutes on phone, being put on hold. I finally just went to hotel and asked security to get it.
The location was the best! The hotel is okey, but the prices are not...
Clean. $31 surchase went to hotel for no extra value. Was a ripoff with only a small print notice in addition to large print advertised price. Buyer beware. Wouldn't recommend or go back.

Friendly and accommodating staff! Loved that everyone was there willing to help. Also liked the security of staff checking to make sure that all guests coming into the hotel were in fact supposed to be there. Didn't like that there wasn't a fridge and/or microwave in the room given the price. Room was very nice but for the price I would've expected at least a fridge.

Location, rooms are comfy , free internet My mother's shoes were stolen, Along with my nephew's (2 and 1/2 yo) pillow and toys. The shoes were inside a suitcase the entire time which makes the case even worse. We complained at the front desk, but the staff were unapologetic and did nothing to solve the issue.
Close enough to walk many places. Staff was extremely friendly. Horrible view from window.

The room was spacious for NYC standards and very clean and well kept. The furnishings were modern and kept up to date. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay. It would have been nice to have a refrigerator in the room to keep our water, wine and cheese cold.

Nice interior All staff Ive come across felt like security. They dont respond to greetings. When they selectively ask to see your room keycard to enter the hotel and you see the people in front of you stroll right in while you get "carded" almost everytime...Im a well groomed mid 20's asian business man on vacation what more do you want? And in the heart of korea-town no less! I avoided the staff for the rest of my stay due to their less than friendly disposition and most times they seemed too busy to talk to you because they are allll on their phones textingg! Mainly speaking of night staff. For such a historic Landmark of a Hotel the staff certainly takes away from its authenticity,beauty and glamour. As far as the rooms go everthing seemed fairly clean and nice. Only issue was the brown water I had to shower in and the air condition wasnt working the first day but their engineering staff promptly fixed the A/C unit.
Nothing. I would recommend kayak remove this hotel from their booking options. It was rated 4.5 out of 5 stars and was the worst hotel I have ever seen. I travel all the time and use you guys to book flights etc. This was my first experience booking a hotel and I will never utilize the service again. I am having to battle with you guys to get money back for a place that was so low quality we didn't feel safe sleeping there. We encountered serious issues upon arrival. We looked at two different rooms and decided due to the condition of the hotel and the utter disarray of the rooms that we could not stay there. We are working back trying to get our money back as we had to make other sleeping arrangements.
The only good thing about this hotel is its location
Absolutely nothing. It was, by far, the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Rooms are from the 80's. Dirty and smell like cigarettes. Staff is unfriendly unwilling to answer the most simple of questions. The valet service is a joke. It took us 1.5 hours to get our vehicle back when we checked out.
The location was convenient and it was easy to get to all different places around the city. The rooms could use a bit of updating but we were not in that much. Just to sleep.

Clean and comfortable bedroom, nice bathroom, location is very good, near Port Authority, Subway, Times Square. The elevators are just 3 for more than 30 floors, what makes it difficult to get in in the morning, when everybody is trying to leave. I took more than 10 minutes to get one since it always skipped our floor. The reception desk staff was fine, but just that, they were not friendly enough to make you feel they really cared for your stay. I asked about the value for a late checkout since there was a transaction in my credit card, and they just said that they did not know about any transaction according to the value I showed to them. After the checkout, that was the value of my late checkout.
Loved - the location although a bit shady at night due to the gay strip club two doors down, all the free food and drinks although it wasn't the best tasting at least they offered and thats more than you can say for any other hotel in the surrounding areas, the kitchenette came in handy Hated - the elevator situation too many people not enough elevators, the fact that they used a pasenger elevator as a service elevator to hual trash from the guests room...it was filled completely to the top with trash bags and we had to stand there and watch and wait as they got it all out and sprayed and wiped down the elevator so we could finally get back to our room, I did not like seeing so much of the inner workings of the hotel in plain view
It feels as if you have your own apartment. Element has thought of everything. The full sized fridge,nth silverware and the dishwasher. The most notable feature at Element is the staff. They are truly focused on getting everything that you desire to you and somehow seem to always go above and beyond. Great for locals and for tourists. Room service was missed.
Enjoyed the decor and atomosphere - great location and a great stay! Free happy hour and solid breakfast to get you going. Someone tried to come into our room at 8AM but we had the deadbolt on - never found out who it was or why they would come in with a 12AM check out.
Clean, friendly staff, safe location, near Penn Station and Bus/Subway station. High speed elevators were quick and fully functional yet compact room, quality continental breakfast included. All rooms sleep 2 persons. Booked through booking.com and charge for room was not to occur until stay, instead the room was charged immediately, one month before stay. While Elements is a non-smoking hotel, you may encounter some large dogs. Rooms suitable for 2 persons only, would be crowded with a large dog as well.

The location is convenient to many points of interest 3 elevators for a 40 story building equals 5 to 10 minute waits for the elevator. The included breakfast is worthless as the space is so crowded and trashed by 8:30 that it is unusable. The kitchenette in the room has no value for a weekend stay and the space it takes up means there's no room for your suitcase.

Reasonably modern and upscale hotel in an ethnic, melting pot area of NYC with a very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Only small issues like a wall outlet that didn't work, a room refrigerator that only served as a bar and a very un-secure and difficult to use wi-fi system - nothing major.

The location was great, roughly 10 blocks from time square. There was no microwave or refrigerator stationed within the room. Also, the gym should did not have a 5-gallon water reserve for guests.

Great location, great price for the day we stayed, room was clean and a nice size for NYC. When checking in they indicated that the water would be turned off at 9am the following morning for emergency repairs. So much for taking the say off and sleeping in. Well, apparently it was only the hot water, which we learned about after getting to the room and reading the note that was slipped under the door. When we got to front desk in the morning, they asked how our stay was and I said it was good. They asked - why only good - so I explained the water situation (it was about 10:30am). They indicated that they hadn't even started the project yet. We went from all water off from 9am-9pm, to only the hot water, to - well the hot water will be turned off - whenever. I'm sure there's a better way.
This hotel was so amazing, I didn't expect much for the price but everything was spotless. The staff was amazing, they came up to our room 2 times a day to bring ice and they were super fast. King bed was very comfy and the hotel was within walking distance from Times Square but if ur visiting New York get a subway card and get everywhere for like 20 min at most. Perfect stay no complaints.

The man who checked us in was friendly, which was probably the only good part of the entire stay. Not 4.5 star hotel. Disorganized checkin/out, no security in lobby b/w bar and elevators, no bellmen to hail cabs, minibar not restocked, no 'do not disturb sign', ran out of bath mats (provided a hand towel instead), bad wifi, room designed for 1 not 2.

The location. There was nothing special about the hotel. The room was very small. I did not like the laminate flooring. The bathroom was very small. Towels small. Had to request to have our room made up at 4:0' in the afternoon because housekeeping did not get to it.
The front desk staff and manager were friendly and competent - they were very helpful when I became ill and had to extend my stay.

New, clean, and excellent helpful staff. Bar and restaurant on site was a plus. Dogs yipping in adjoining room. 2 dogs were left alone in the room and barked incessantly! There is a Chelsea Dog Hotel right down the street and would suggest people take their dogs there. Service dogs are a different matter.

The staff was very friendly from the moment I checked in. I had an unobstructed view of Lower Manhattan's skyline which was gorgeous. I visit New York a lot to see my daughter. I will definitely be staying here again.

Staff wasn't always accommodating to my needs. Certain employees went above and beyond to help. Others just hung up the phone when I needed help. Small rooms. Badly designed space. Inability to control temperature of room. Rude staff. The engineer was helpful but the front desk staff treated me like I was in their way and bothering them constantly

Close to all the possible scenic spots + bus/train station Long line on breakfast and only 3 elevators for all the floors ( 32 floors with atleast 5-7 rooms in each floor).
The staff was super helpful and the rooms were very clean and nice. The breakfast was great and there was plenty of food. The location is excellent. You can easily walk to any location in Times Square and we enjoyed the fact that the hotel was not on a busy street, so street noise was extremely low. I would highly recommend this hotel. There was a lot of traffic in the lobby in the evening because of a hot new club "The Sky Room" that is on the top of the hotel. However, the Sky Room staffing did an EXCELLENT job of getting hotel guests on the elevators before the club hoppers. We also were never disturbed by the club in the slightest. This isn't really a negative comment :)

Next to the bus stop if you travel through Newark airport. Yes, the breakfast room is small, but it was not a major problem.

Hotel was great location, clean and spacious room for Manhattan. The staff was discombobulated and one shift didn't seem to know what the other shift was doing. We were locked out of our room twice because they mixed up our reservation even though it was pre-paid. Each time it happened requiring is to come to front desk immediately and disturbing our morning like it was our fault. They couldn't seem to wrap their heads around a simple reservation and the inconvenience they were causing. No apologies for it either. If this had not happened, this would be the best hotel in Manhattan.

Room Airconditioner was efficient but was too noisy at night - probably needed maintenance to fix noisy fan which appear to be out of balance.
Great value for this area of Manhattan. Staff didn't seem to communicate between one shift and the next. They confused and crossed our reservation and double charged us making us get three sets of re-keyed room keys. Pain in the total a$$.
Front desk was wonderful, just things beyond their control occurred. Shower in our room squirted from wall even after repair man tried to fix, had to change rooms, delay in getting extra towels from housekeeping--the biggest and most noticeable is the cleaning staff does not know how to properly clean a room, wood floors not swept in rooms and the space between glass showers and sink have never been cleaned--whole bars of used soap, hair ties, wrappers and etc in the space-- just totally gross-- room 306!! They really need a lesson in how to clean a room!!!
I was in town for a convention and found the location perfect. Staff was great which was a real plus given the small size of common area. The room was comfortable and I liked the wood floors. Rooms average to large size for NYC. Just want to commend the staff at the front desk, bell man, and breakfast staff all helpful and friendly. I think I saw a cast member from Law and Order staying at the hotel too. Better after hours food in the vending machines. It was out of colas at 9 on a Wednesday night, and limited snacks selection. It is NY so only had to walk a block to find what we wanted though. 35th is one way west and not cab friendly.
Great value! We had an enjoyable weekend visit to NYC with a group of friends. We stayed in a Premium Room with 2 Queen beds, and a pull-out sofa. It also had a mini-fridge and wet bar area. The room was huge, clean, and very comfortable with tons of windows. The location of the hotel was convenient to our weekend plans at MSG. Hotel lobby staff was friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations. I would definitely stay at this hotel again, and would certainly recommend it to friends.
I like the new trend of wood floors, as used here. Seems cleaner. The rooms are very attractive, but less functional than others. The beds are very comfortable. There are lots of places to plug in devices (regular outlets and USB) in several places. Elevators are plentiful and efficient. Loved having a Keurig coffeemaker. I interacted little with staff, but all I encountered in the hallways were friendly. A little off the beaten track, which is good in the city. And right next to a police precinct, which made me feel extra safe. There was no drawer-storage in my room (the closet is elevated, so you can put things on the floor of that, plus belowe the closet are two cubbies - one with the iron/board and one with a safe, but not really convenient for clothing). There was no countertop space in the bathroom for cosmetics, etc. No minibar, which is a sign of 4* and up, to me. And all that is provided are paper coffee cups. Some people may like that they may be cleaner, but I like glass glasses, and ceramic cups. Since I brought a bottle of wine, I asked in the bar if I could have a wine glass to take to my room and the bartender said he wasn't allowed to give one to me. I had a problem turning my TV off with the remote (it would just come back on) and a late night call to the front desk was no help ("Just turn the volume all the way down.") I eventually found a power button on the TV, but the desk clerk should have suggested that. At check-in, the clerk was not unfriendly, but when he handed me my keycard, he didn't really explain anything about the facility (breakfast, etc.) like people usually do.

I didnt like anything about it. I reserve a room with 2 Queen Size bed when we get there it wasn't reserve for us awful experience the man in the front desk he suggest his going to look for another hotel but we were so tired we just need to relax.
I have stayed at the Tryp several times (perhaps 8-10x) over the past few years. Overall, the room size is good, price is good, nice little bar downstairs. Decent accommodations for the money. The staff was so horrible this time around. Just overall not accommodating. There was no hot water on the coldest day of the year. My husband took a freezing cold shower and the just put their hands up like oh well!

close to penn station I stayed for 4 nights. very loud and i'm talking about car trucks passing by it's people banging on trash cans and construction. The hotel is next door to a police station. room are good size but decor is modern cheap looking with dispensers for shampoo and body wash glued in the shower. I would not stay there again.
Close to subway stop A lot of noise in room hardwood floors and thin walls, makes for a noisy experience especially with the exit doors being slammed by housekeeping all day. Could hear full conversations in the rooms from neighbors
The staff was outstanding and did everything they could to make my stay the best possible. The room was very clean and nice and had many added accoutrements that I had not expected. Overall my stay was excellent and I would recommend this hotel for business and pleasure!

Misinformation from concierge on where to park when we arrived at midnight. Construction noise outside our window all night with no warning or apology from hotel staff. Place is pretty crowded and dingy. Was not aware that Hilton did not give points if booked through kayak
The staff at the DoubleTree South Times Square is AWESOME! Friendly, helpful, bent over backwards to make my stay comfortable. Small room, ice machines not on every floor. SLOW elevators!
We got our cookie, so we had that going for us... which was nice. Staff was curt and unwilling to accommodate a booking error that occurred. It didn't really seem like my business mattered much there. Won't be making any future reservations here.
Got in late after the Bruce Springsteen concert and the front desk associate gave my friend and I each a bottle of water. Extra cookies on check out -- which are amazing by the way! Issue with two blow dryers.

For the cost I don't see how you can charge what you do for these rooms when you can stay at the one at Times Square for the same amount and have a suite. You can barely walk by another person in these rooms. You charge WAY TOO MUCH for them!!!

Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was good sized with a large shower, but there was virtually no counter space and it was impossible to use the faucet and sink without splashing water outside the sink. The room had almost no drawer space. Two narrow and deep drawers and one letter drawer. Closet also very small. If you are staying more than a day or two, you will have to still live our of your suitcase. Speaking of suit cases - no place to put them to get them out of the way. Very poorly designed room/bathroom/furniture for counter space and drawers. Broken safety rail in shower - very dangerous! Nice breakfast - but constantly running out of plates, bowls, etc.

I was really pleased about the accommodations on the hotel. Full kitchen was really useful. Personnel was kind in general (as long as a problem did not arise). I did not like the eggs for breakfast. Couple of packages were not received by hotel.
