Travelers are allowed if they are in an essential category such as healthcare professionals, students, government members, diplomats, military personnel, humanitarian aid workers, airline crew, seasonal workers, travelers in transit, or travelers entering Greece for reasons authorized by the Greek embassy or consulate. COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Unvaccinated visitors from Germany must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken 72 for RT-PCR (NAAT) and 48 Antigen (quick-test) hours before departing to Greece.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to present a negative COVID-19 test.

Details and exceptions

Upon their arrival, they will also be subject to random testing (rapid tests) as per the procedure described in the Passenger Locator Form (PLF).

Children under 12 years old are not subject to the obligation to a PCR test.

Acceptable vaccines are: Pfizer BioNtech, Moderna, Astra Zeneca/Oxford, Novavax,JohnsonNJohnson/Janssen, Sinovac Biotech, Gamaleya (Sputnik),Cansino Biologics,Sinopharm among others.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors from Germany are not required to quarantine after entering Greece.

Details and exceptions

If a traveler tests positive, then they will have to quarantine for ten (10) days. International flight passengers, who have been fully vaccinated and the rapid test they take upon arrival is positive, will have to self-isolate for ten(10) days. In both cases, self-isolated traveler will have to show a negative result to a molecular PCR test on the last day of their quarantine, in order for the quarantine to be lifted.

Details and exceptions

All travelers entering Germany, irrespective of whether or not they spent time in a high-risk area or area of variants of concern, are obligated to present proof of the absence of Covid-19 infection. Proof of vaccination or recovery are accepted in lieu of a test result.

Children under the age of 12 are exempt from the obligation to furnish proof.

Quarantine requirements

Unvaccinated visitors returning from Greece will need to quarantine for 10 days upon entering Germany.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to quarantine.

Details and exceptions

If entering Germany following a stay in a high-risk area, traveler needs to self-isolate at home or in their place of accommodation for ten days. If traveler spent time in an area of variants of concern prior to entry, the self-isolation period will be 14 days. See List of Risk Areas.

No quarantine is necessary if a negative test result, proof of vaccination or proof of recovery is submitted before entry.
