COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type
Visitors from the United States must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken hours before departing to Bulgaria.

Travelers who do not have a negative PCR test performed in the last 72 hours will be required to self-isolate at home for 10 days.

Bulgarian citizens, residents, and their immediate family members may opt to undertake a mandatory 10-day quarantine period upon arrival to Bulgaria in lieu of providing evidence of a negative PCR test result.

Visitors from the United States are not required to quarantine after entering Bulgaria.

Travelers returning from Bulgaria must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken 72 hours before departure to the United States.

Children under the age of 2 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test.

Travelers with proof of recovery from the virus within the last 90 days prior to boarding. Proof of a recent positive viral test and a letter from your healthcare provider or a public health official stating that you were cleared to travel.

Visitors returning from Bulgaria will need to quarantine for 7 days upon entering the United States.

Travelers who did not get tested, are advised to stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.​
