Ghana Travel Restrictions

Unvaccinated visitors from the United States will not be allowed to enter Ghana.
Fully vaccinated visitors from the United States can enter Ghana without restrictions.

This entry restriction does not apply to fully vaccinated travelers, travelers under the age of 18 and unvaccinated or partially vaccinated Ghanaians and residents of Ghana.

Temperature screening is required for all passengers on arrival.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Unvaccinated visitors from the United States must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken within 48 hours before departing to Ghana.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to present a negative COVID-19 test.

Details and exceptions
Unvaccinated and partially vaccinated travelers must have a negative COVID-19 PCR test result. The test must be taken from a Trusted Travel accredited laboratory. Travelers must validate their test results through the African Union Trusted Travel or the UNDP Global Haven systems before travel. This requirement does not apply to fully vaccinated travelers, travelers under the age of 10, and residents of Ghana who depart Ghana and return within 1 week, these travelers must take a test on their arrival back in Ghana.
Unvaccinated and partially vaccinated Ghanaian citizens and residents must take a COVID-19 test on arrival in Ghana. Travelers must pay for the test online before travel and show proof of payment before boarding the plane and on arrival in Ghana. This requirement does not apply to travelers under the age of 18 and fully vaccinated travelers.
All unvaccinated or partially vaccinated Ghanian citizens and residents will be offered a COVID-19 vaccine on arrival provided by the Government of Ghana.
Quarantine requirements

Visitors from the United States are not required to quarantine after entering Ghana.

Details and exceptions
Travelers who test positive for COVID-19 on their test on arrival in Ghana must quarantine for 7 days at a designated health facility.
Unvaccinated and partially vaccinated Ghanaians and residents of Ghana must quarantine at home for 7 days or get vaccinated after their arrival in Ghana.
Documents
All travelers are required to complete a health declaration form no more than 3 days before traveling to Ghana.
To visit Ghana for Business or Tourism, you require a visa. A paper or embassy visa is the only type of visa available for visitors. Typically the visa is a stamp or sticker added to your passport. COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travelers returning from Ghana must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken within 1 day for RT-PCR (NAAT) and 1 day for Antigen (quick-test) before departure to the United States.

Details and exceptions
Effective:December 6th, 2021: A COVID-19 negative test result taken within 1 day before departure must be presented to the airline before boarding your flight. This applies to ALL incoming air travelers, regardless of vaccination status or nationality.
Children under the age of 2 are exempt from test requirements as well as travelers who have both valid proof or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 in the past 90 days and a letter from a valid healthcare authority who has stated that they are cleared for travel. Refer to the CDC Website for more details.
Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Ghana are not required to quarantine upon entering the United States.

Foreign nationals (non-U.S. citizens and non-U.S. immigrants) who are not fully vaccinated and are permitted to travel to the US by air by meeting certain vaccine exemptions are required to self quarantine for 7 days, unless they have a valid COVID-19 recovery document.
Travelers should also follow state and local requirements and recommendations after travel.
