Border status

Suriname's airports are closed, except to direct flights from the Netherlands for medical, essential workers, emergency travel and repatriation flights.

Foreign travelers must submit evidence of travel insurance with COVID-19 coverage.

Test type
Visitors from the United States must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departing to Suriname.
Exceptions

Children under the age of 12 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 PCR-RT test result.

Visitors from the United States will need to quarantine for 10 days upon entering Suriname.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type
Travelers returning from Suriname must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken 72 hours before departure to the United States.
Exceptions

Children under the age of 2 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test.

Travelers with proof of recovery from the virus within the last 90 days prior to boarding. Proof of a recent positive viral test and a letter from your healthcare provider or a public health official stating that you were cleared to travel.

Exceptions

Travelers who did not get tested, are advised to stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.​
